LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT OF A TODDLER 

An area man has been taken into custody for the alleged assault of a toddler. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 22 year old Jordan Holloway struck both a 3 year old child and a 23 year old man in the head with a handgun on Saturday.  

Officials say the incident occurred on the front lawn of a residence on Lester Street.  

Information obtained from the victim suggests the assault was in response to an earlier physical altercation. 

Holloway was arrested and lodged in the Butler County Jail on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a child - 1st degree, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

MULTIPLE FATALITIES REPORTED AFTER WRECK IN STODDARD COUNTY 

Multiple deaths have been reported following a single vehicle wreck last night in Stoddard County. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 55 year old Jeffrey Stultz, of Pocahontas AR, ran off Missouri Highway 25 and struck a utility pole, ejecting him from the vehicle. 

Both Stultz and a passenger, 41 year old Renee Karpinski, of Holcomb, were pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope. 

Two other people were injured, and both were transported to a hospital in Cape Giradeau.

DEXTER MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE STATUTORY SODOMY RELATED COUNTS

A Dexter man has been taken into custody on multiple statutory sodomy related counts.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 45 year old Chris Eugene Stickler Sr. was recently booked on four counts of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy - deviate sexual intercourse.

DONIPHAN WOMAN FACING MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

Authorities in Ripley County have arrested a Doniphan woman on multiple felony charges.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 32 year old Jacquelyn Young was taken into custody Monday afternoon on a felony charge of assault on a law enforcement officer.

SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING BOATER IN CLAY COUNTY

Authorities in Northeast Arkansas are searching for a missing boater.

According to Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller, 911 received a call reporting that a boater was missing near Holland’s Lodge on the Black River.

Multiple agencies, including the Clay County Emergency Task Force and Arkansas Game and Fish have been assisting in the search since 5 pm Sunday evening.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE TRYING TO LOCATE MAN WHO ESCAPED FROM CUSTODY

Authorities in Poplar Bluff are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who was arrested and then escaped earlier this week.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, a reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of Colton Howell.

PIEDMONT WOMAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK 

A single vehicle wreck in New Madrid County has resulted in the death of a Piedmont woman.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred early Friday morning on New Madrid County Road 250.  

37 year old Heather Hicks was driving when her vehicle travelled off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.  

Hicks was reportedly not wearing a safety device and was ejected during the wreck.  

She was later pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George DeLisle.

MAN WHO HAD WARRANTS FROM THREE STATES TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN DEXTER

A man who had active warrants from three states has been apprehended in Dexter.

According to the Dexter Police Department, early Wednesday morning, an officer conducted a traffic stop for an expired license plate. During the stop, the driver falsely identified himself and then attempted to flee on foot.

PUXICO SCHOOL DISTRICT CANCELS CLASSES FOR THURSDAY

The Puxico R-8 School district has announced that classes will not be held on Thursday due to the funeral of a student.

In a letter sent out on Tuesday, officials say that school will not be in session so that students and staff members may attend the funeral services for a student who passed away on September 14th.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE ANNOUNCE ALCOHOL SALE COMPLIANCE CHECKS 

Authorities in Poplar Bluff have announced they will be conducting checks at local businesses to make sure they are selling alcohol properly.  

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, in the next few months young adults under the age of 21 will visit businesses which sell alcoholic beverages and try to purchase the drinks. 

Police Officers will be working with these minors, and will cite employees and businesses for violations.

MISSOURI STATE CONGRESSWOMAN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR STATE SENATE 

A State Congresswoman from Southeast Missouri has announced her candidacy for the Missouri State Senate.

Earlier this week, Holly Rehder announced that she will be running for Missouri’s 27th Senate District, which is made up of six counties, including Wayne, Madison, and Bollinger.  

The seat is currently held by Wayne Wallingford who is facing the term limit.  

Rehder is coming up against a term limit herself, having served as the Representative for Missouri House District 148 since 2013.

MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES IN CONNECTION TO WEEKEND SHOOTING

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, a Ripley County man is facing multiple charges in connection to a shooting over the weekend.

According to authorities, 33 year old Joshua Blackshear allegedly shot his wife in the hand on Sunday at a convenience store in Ripley County.
