LOCAL MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY FOR POSSESSION OF COCAINE

A local man was arrested in Butler County yesterday on a cocaine charge.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, 55 year old Daniel Wood, of Harviell, was taken into custody for felony possession of a controlled substance – cocaine.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wood was taken to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.

HAZMAT TEAM DISPATCHED FOLLOWING OVERTURNED TANKER IN CARDWELL

A HazMat team was called to the scene after a tanker overturned in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Kennett Fire Department, the tanker overturned Thursday afternoon in Cardwell.

The tankers contents began leaking, prompting the department’s Hazmat team to be dispatched to the scene.

Officials did not reveal what was in the tanker.

Agencies from both Missouri and Arkansas responded to the wreck, and no one was injured in the incident.

28th ANNUAL QULIN HOMECOMING BEGINS TODAY

The 28th Annual Qulin Homecoming will begin this evening.

The event will begin with the Qulin Homecoming Pageant at 6 pm at the Qulin Middle School Gym.

There will also be multiple events on Saturday, including the parade, a corn hole tournament, and the pumpkin throwing contest.

The Doniphan City Wide Yard Sale will begin this weekend.

There will be yard sales across the city on Saturday, as well as other venders such as food trucks, live music, and more.

RECEPTION SCHEDULED TONIGHT AT THE MARGARET HARWELL ART MUSEUM

An artist who is known for painting in multiple styles will be featured at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum tonight.

The opening reception will feature the art of Wayne A. Conyers, an artist who has done work with several styles, including watercolor, figure drawing, and oil paintings.

The reception will be held from 6 pm through 8 pm, with an artist talk at 6:30 pm.

MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION HOSTING A PRESCRIBED FIRE WORKSHOP IN POPLAR BLUFF

The Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting an event for landowners this weekend.

The MDC will show landowners how to use prescribed fire as a land management tool.

MDC officials say this technique is used to manage grasslands and old fields, originating from the Native Americans.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, at 8 am, at the Chamber of Commerce in Poplar Bluff.
