TWO BODIES RECOVERED FROM BLACK RIVER IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

Two bodies have been recovered this week from Black River in Northeast Arkansas.

According to authorities the body of a missing boater, identified as 71 year old Allan Peterson, of Scotland, was found Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, the body of Ricky Boak, of Marmaduke was also recovered from Black River.

The two deaths were reportedly not connected.

MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

A man has been arrested in Butler County on drug related charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 48 year old Todd Leibold, of Lyles, Tennessee, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon for felony possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

He is also facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

He was transported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office following the arrest.

FAFSA FRENZY EVENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY AT POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL

An event has been scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

FAFSA Frenzy will be held from 3 to 8 pm at the Poplar Bluff High School Commons Area.

Students who are interested in participating must sign up at the counseling center.

THE POPLAR BLUFF MUSEUM WILL BE HOSTING ITS NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM GALA EVENT SATURDAY

The Poplar Bluff Museum is hosting a Halloween event this weekend.

The Night at the Museum Gala: Hocus Pocus event will be held on October 5th, from 6 pm to 10:30 pm.

The event will feature a silent and live auction as well as dinner and entertainment.

Costumes are optional, but encouraged, and a prize will be awarded for the best costume.

POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION FAIR SCHEDULED FOR TODAY

The Poplar Bluff High School Transition fair has been scheduled for this afternoon.

The fair is for any student receiving special education services and their family members or advocates. The event will be about what they can expect after graduation.

The fair will be held from 4 to 7 pm at the Poplar Bluff High School Media Center and will include a meet and greet with community agencies, food, prizes, and more.

FREE FLU SHOTS TO BE GIVEN TO VETERANS AT VA MEDICAL CENTER

This month area veterans will have the opportunity to get prepared for the upcoming flu season.

According to the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, veterans who are enrolled in VA health care can get a free flu shot at their local VA health care facility.

A flu shot clinic will be held at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff from October 14th through the 18th.

Veterans can also go to clinics held by the VA Medical Center in Paragould, Pocahontas, and Sikeston, on October 25th.
