DEXTER MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE STATUTORY SODOMY RELATED COUNTS

A Dexter man has been taken into custody on multiple statutory sodomy related counts.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 45 year old Chris Eugene Stickler Sr. was recently booked on four counts of statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy - deviate sexual intercourse.

Officials say that no bond has been set and Stickler remained in custody as of this morning.

TEEN INJURED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI WRECK

A teenager has suffered serious injuries in connection to a wreck in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 17 year old girl from Canalou was driving on Route H in New Madrid County when she ran off the roadway and struck a culvert.

Officials say the wreck occurred at around 10 pm Tuesday, two miles west of Matthews.

The teen, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was transported by helicopter to a St. Louis hospital.

DONIPHAN POLICE DEPARTMENT HOSTS CONE WITH A COP

An event will be held today to allow residents to meet with law enforcement in Ripley County.

Area citizens will get a chance to chat with officers from the Doniphan Police Department, the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol during a Cone with a Cop event this afternoon.

The event has been scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the Doniphan McDonalds.

GIRL SCOUTS SIGN UP EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THIS EVENING IN POPLAR BLUFF

An event has been scheduled for today to give your child the opportunity to sign up for the Girl Scouts.

Officials say the Girl Scouts combine life skills, STEM, the outdoors, and entrepreneurship, to deliver crucial, life-changing, girl-led programming.

Parents and their daughters can learn about the girl scouts at the sign up event at the Poplar Bluff Public Library.

The event will be held from 5 to 6 pm and you can find more information at GirlScoutsMoHeartland.org.

AREA SCHOOL COLLECTING PLASTIC CAPS TO BUILD A BUDDY BENCH

An area school has launched a recycling drive to help build a bench.

Eugene Field Elementary School in Poplar Bluff is collecting plastic lids and caps in order to build a buddy bench for recess, in collaboration with the ABC Promise Partnership program.

School officials say that some of the acceptable caps and lids include the tops of medicine bottles, milk jugs, detergent, toothpaste, deodorant, water bottles, coffee cans, and more.

THE DEADLINE FOR THREE RIVERS COLLEGE PRACTICAL NURSING APPLICATION HAS BEEN EXTENDED

Prospective nursing students have additional time to get their applications in for the one-year Practical Nurse certificate programs at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff and Sikeston.

College officials tell KWOC News that the deadline for turning in an application has been extended to October 18th.

These programs prepare students to sit for an exam to become a licensed practical nurse, who usually work under the supervision of registered nurses, physicians, and dentists.

Classes will begin in January and application forms can be found online at trcc.edu.
