Authorities in the Missouri bootheel are investigating after the death of a young child from Steele over the weekend.
According to authorities, a four year old child was taken to a Pemiscot County hospital on Sunday, where the child was pronounced dead.

POPLAR BLUFF MULES WIN 2ND STRAIGHT SHOWDOWN
The Poplar Bluff Mules have claimed their second straight Poplar Bluff Showdown championship.
The Mules defeated Jonesboro in the Showdown Final on Saturday 69-68. Fayetteville beat Humboldt, 72-55 in the third place game.
For the Consolation Championship, Christian County beat Kirby, 52-48. In the Seventh Place game, Memphis Central beat Kauffman, 92-40.
The Mules’ Dominque and Joseph Hardimon were both selected to the Showdown All-Tournament team.
VALENTINES FOR VETERANS CONCERT TO BE HELD IN MID FEBRUARY
A date has been set for the 2019 Valentines for Veterans concert.
According to the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, the concert, featuring Rodney Atkins with special guest Tiera, will be held at 6 pm on Friday, February 15th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff.

HIGHWAY PATROL ENCOURAGES MOTORISTS TO BE SAFE OVER WHILE CELEBRATING THE NEW YEAR
The New Year is quickly approaching and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding everyone who is planning to get out and celebrate tonight to drive safely.
According to the Highway Patrol, nine people were killed last year during the New Year’s holiday counting period. There were a total of 845 traffic crashes which injured 291 people.
If you are driving to a New Year’s gathering, remember to buckle up and obey all traffic laws. If your plans include alcohol, remember to designate a sober driver or take a taxi.
EARTHQUAKE SHAKES PARTS OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A small earthquake shook parts of the Missouri Arkansas border on Friday.
According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.3 earthquake was recorded at 5:43 pm Friday evening.
The earthquake was located one mile southeast of Elm Store, Arkansas and 48 miles west south west of Poplar Bluff.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON FELONY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE CHARGE
A Poplar Bluff woman was taken into custody over the weekend on a felony controlled substance charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Ashley Hicks was arrested early Saturday morning on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Hicks is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated.
Following the arrest, Hicks was held at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

MAN DIES FROM INJURIES HE RECEIVED IN A WRECK IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, a Steele man has died from injuries he received in a wreck earlier this week in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 5 am Wednesday on US Highway 412, approximately two miles west of Cardwell.
A vehicle, driven by 25 year old Dylan Hicks, of Steele, allegedly crossed the center line of the highway and struck another vehicle head on.
Hicks was transported to a Paragould hospital with serious injuries and later moved to Memphis hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.
SEMIFINALS SET FOR 32ND ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF BASKETBALL SHOWDOWN
The semifinal matchups have been set for the 32nd Annual Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown.
The Poplar Bluff Mules advanced to today’s semifinal with a 63-58 victory yesterday over Memphis Central.
The Mules will take on Fayetteville High School tonight at 7 pm. Fayetteville defeated Christian County 74-34 on Thursday.
The other semifinal will be an Arkansas-Tennessee matchup as Jonesboro takes on Humboldt at 8:30 pm.
The two consolation matchups today will be Kirby vs. Kauffman at 4 pm and Memphis Central vs. Christian County at 5:30 pm.
Today is also the day for the Slam Dunk and 3-point contest, which will begin at 10 am.
WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
An area woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a single vehicle wreck in Wayne County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC news that 40 year old Trina Cook, of Eminence, was driving on Highway 34 in the Piedmont area when her vehicle ran off the side of the road, struck a traffic sign, and then a tree.
Cook suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
CONGRESSMAN JASON SMITH SPEAKS TO AREA RESIDENTS DURING EVENT IN POPLAR BLUFF
Southeast Missouri’s congressman in the United States House of Representatives made a stop in Poplar Bluff yesterday to hold a public forum.
Representative Jason Smith spoke with area citizens about the government shutdown and border security Thursday at Jen’s Diner.
On his Facebook page following the event, Smith asked anyone who could not make it to the forum to visit JasonSmith.house.gov/contact and say what they would like to see in a deal to reopen the government.
WEIGHT RESTRICTION IN PLACE ON MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE
Illinois transportation officials say a weight restriction has been put into place on a bridge over the Mississippi River.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, combination vehicles are being restricted to 37 tons and single unit vehicle to 33 tons on the US 60/62 bridge over the Mississippi River.
The weight limits were posted yesterday and went into effect immediately.
Officials say that repair plans are in progress, but no implementation plans are in place yet.

At 3:47 pm the Rector Police Department was notified of a man walking along Main Street brandishing a firearm. As police arrived in the area, Warbritton reportedly pointed the gun at a police officer.

Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the incident.

THREE NEW STATE TROOPERS ASSIGNED TO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Three new State Troopers have been assigned to Southeast Missouri.
According to Captain Jeffrey Vitale, with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troopers Garrett Hendrix, of Poplar Bluff, and Caleb Morgan, of Piedmont, have been assigned to serve the citizens of Butler and Ripley Counties, while Trooper David Beck, of Scott City, will serve the citizens of Mississippi, New Madrid, and Scott counties.
The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 106th Recruit Class that graduated from the Patrol Academy on December 21st.
MISSOURI PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVES NATURAL GAS RATE REDUCTION FOR AMEREN MISSOURI CUSTOMERS
Some natural gas users in Missouri could soon be seeing a reduction on their bill.
The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which provides an interim rate reduction for natural gas customers of Ameren Missouri.
The interim rate reduction will take effect on January 2nd and will remain in effect until the Public Service Commission decides a natural gas rate case Ameren Missouri filed with the Commission earlier this month.
The interim rate reduction reflects the impact of the change in the federal corporate income tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent under the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Officials say that for a residential customer using approximately 100 Ccf a month, natural gas rates will drop by approximately $1.58 a month.
Ameren Missouri provides natural gas service to approximately 131,000 customers in 25 Missouri counties including Butler, Stoddard, and Bollinger.
LEAF PICK UP CONTINUING THIS WEEK IN POPLAR BLUFF
The leaf pick up schedule for the city of Poplar Bluff is continuing this week.
According to city officials, leaves will be picked up in Ward 3 through January 11th.
Leaves may also be disposed of at the landfill located on the east side of the city. To reach the landfill, take Bartlett Street to “F” Street and go under the railroad crossing. Follow the graveled portion of “F” Street around the curve and the disposal is located on the left side of the road. There are signs marking the location.
The site is open for leaf disposal from 8 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

ARREST MADE IN CARDWELL HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
An arrest has been made in connection to a Dunklin County homicide investigation.
According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, 36 year old Trevor John Huber, of Cardwell, was taken into custody on Friday for the death of his mother, Charlotte Wilson.
ARREST MADE IN CARDWELL HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
An arrest has been made in connection to a Dunklin County homicide investigation.
According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, 36 year old Trevor John Huber, of Cardwell, was taken into custody on Friday for the death of his mother, Charlotte Wilson.
Sheriff Holder says the homicide occurred at Ms. Wilson’s residence in Cardwell.
Huber is being charged with murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING POLICE PURSUIT IN KENNETT
A woman was taken into custody over the weekend following a police pursuit in Kennett.
Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that early Sunday morning officers were dispatched to an area residence where a victim stated that someone had just stolen their vehicle.
While in the area, officers located and recovered a second stolen vehicle, which had not yet been reported and had been left parked just down from the original victim’s residence.
Officers located the original reported vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at which point the driver refused to stop and attempted to strike an officer with the vehicle. The driver eventually drove into a yard and attempted to flee on foot.
Officers subsequently apprehended and arrested 30 year old Heather Quinn, of Kennett, for two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault 1st degree on a law enforcement officer, and various traffic charges.
ADVANCE MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested an Advance man on a felony drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 31 year old Matthew Payne was taken into custody Sunday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Payne is also facing charges including unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Payne was held at the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office.
KENNETT POLICE MAKE METH ARREST ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT
Authorities in Kennett arrested an area man for methamphetamine Christmas night.
According to the Kennett Police Department, at around 8:40 pm Tuesday night, officers located an individual who was being sought for questioning in several recent thefts.
When officers made contact, the subject attempted to flee, however officials say he was then taken into custody without incident. While detaining the individual, officers located an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana on the subject’s person.
41 year old Kelvin Harrell, of Kennett, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana as well as resisting arrest. Harrell was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS IS ACCEPTING USED CHRISTMAS TREES
Now that Christmas is behind us, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to take your Christmas tree off your hands.
The Corps of Engineers will be accepting used Christmas trees beginning today and continuing through January 18th.
All you have to do is drop your undecorated tree off in the marked location at the Redman Creek Recreation Area boat ramp.
Officials say the trees will be used to aid in establishing a fish shelter and small game habitat.

ARREST MADE IN CONNECTION TO STOLEN VEHICLE IN BLOOMFIELD
Updating a story we brought to you earlier this week, an arrest has been made in connection to a stolen vehicle in Bloomfield.
Few details have been made available; however Bloomfield Police Officials say that one suspect has been taken into custody after a Chevrolet Cavalier was taken from an area residence. The vehicle has also been recovered.
The name of the person arrested has not been released and officials say the investigation is ongoing.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL REMINDS MOTORISTS TO DRIVE SAFE OVER CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to drive safely over the Christmas holiday.
Remember to check your vehicle before you travel to ensure that it is in good working condition. Make sure you are well rested before driving to your destination, no matter how short the distance.
According to the Highway Patrol, last year there were 1,618 traffic crashes during the Christmas counting period. In those crashes, seven people were killed and another 541 were injured.
The 2018 Christmas holiday counting period begins at 6 pm Friday night, and ends at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 25th.
If you face a traffic emergency, you can contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on a cellular phone.
Motorists should use this number if they are in a traffic crash, witness a crash or crime, or observe a stranded motorist in need of assistance, or other traffic emergencies.
THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS IS ACCEPTING USED CHRISTMAS TREES

AG EXPO 2019 TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 18TH AND 19TH
We are less than one month away from Ag Expo 2019.
Next year’s Ag Expo will be held on January 18th and 19th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. There will be over 100 agriculture related booths and exhibits at the expo along with many activities for the whole family.
Other events will include the beauty pageant, FFA tractor driving contest, petting farm, old time auction, and cow milking contest.
Admission will be $1 for adults and free for all college students and youth.

MULTIPLE SOUTHEAST MISSOURI COMMUNITIES TO RECEIVE FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE FUNDS
Multiple Southeast Missouri communities have been announced to receive a portion of federal transportation alternative funds.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, eight Southeast Missouri communities, including Dexter, Bertrand, and Sikeston have been selected to receive $1.79 million in transportation alternative funds.
A selection committee comprised of representatives from local regional planning commissions reviewed applications before making their recommendations. The projects consisted of trails, sidewalks and ADA improvements to existing sidewalks.
These funds, which are set aside by Congress to be used specifically for transportation alternatives, allow communities to develop projects that improve the quality of a community and enhance the travel experience.

MALDEN MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY FIREARM WARRANT
A Malden man was arrested yesterday in Butler County on a felony firearm warrant.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52 year old Martin German was taken into custody last night on a felony Wayne County warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON FELONY WARRANT
Authorities in Butler County have arrested an area woman on a felony warrant.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 58 year old Debra Raymer, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody shortly after 9:30 pm last night on a felony warrant out of Butler County on the original charge of sale of a controlled substance.
Following the arrest Raymer was held at the Butler County Jail.
MAN IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO PEMISCOT COUNTY HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Updating a story we brought to you earlier this week, a man is in custody in Pemiscot County in a homicide investigation.
According to authorities, 57 year old Dennis Green Sr. is facing charges including 1st degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to the death of his wife, 58 year old Debbie Jo Whitaker on Sunday.
Green turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday and is being held in the Pemiscot County Justice Center. No bond has been set.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI JUDGE ONE OF THREE NOMINATED FOR MISSOURI COURT OF APPEALS
A Southeast Missouri judge has been submitted to Missouri Governor Mike Parson possibly to fill a vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals.
Judge Michael Gardner was one of three people nominated by the Appellate Judicial Commission for the seat that was vacated due to the retirement of Judge Lisa Van Amburg.
Gardner is currently the presiding judge of the 32nd Judicial Circuit which includes Bollinger, Cape Girardeau and Perry counties.
The governor has 60 days to select one member of the panel to fill the vacancy. Should he fail to do so, the Missouri Constitution directs the commission to make the appointment.
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCES DETAILS ABOUT BRIDGE PROJECTS TO BEGIN NEXT SPRING
The Missouri Department of Transportation says plans are underway for upcoming bridge replacement projects in Pemiscot County.
MoDot officials tell KWOC News that the Route K project involves replacing the bridge over Lateral Ditch No. 9 near Hayti.
The Route HH project involves replacing the bridge over Drainage Ditch 84, near Peach Orchard.
The projects are expected to be let in March, with construction beginning as early as May. As construction is underway, Route K and Route HH will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the bridges. Each bridge will be closed to traffic for approximately eight to 12 weeks during construction, weather permitting.

DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED ON CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS
Driver examination stations across Missouri will be closed for a couple of days because of the holidays.
Captain John Hotz with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that driver examination stations will be closed on Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th for the Christmas holiday. The stations will also be closed on Tuesday, January 1st for New Year’s Day.
Normal operations will resume on the Wednesday following each holiday.

Students in Poplar Bluff are getting ready to begin their holiday break.
Poplar Bluff R-1 School officials say that the holiday break this year will begin on Thursday, December 20th.
Students will return to class on Thursday, January 3rd.

THEFT REPORT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN KENNETT
A theft report led to a drug arrest last week in Kennett.
According to the Kennett Police Department, on December 14th officers were dispatched to an area residence in reference to a theft.
The reporting party indicated that a family member had stolen money and other items from another family member who also lives in the home. During an investigation, officers located the stolen items but not the money. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and narcotic related paraphernalia.
Officers subsequently arrested 44 year old Glen Abernathy, of Kennett, for possession of a controlled substance.
While at the residence, officers also arrested 36 year old Candi Walters, of Senath, on an active state of Arkansas warrant issued out of Clay County.
BLOOMFIELD POLICE ASKING THE PUBLIC TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A STOLEN VEHICLE
Authorities in Bloomfield are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen vehicle.
According to the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety, a white Chevrolet Cavalier was recently taken from an area residence. Officials say the vehicle has damage to the front driver side fender.

TONIGHT IS THE FINAL NIGHT FOR SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE
Tonight is the final night to see a Christmas themed show at a Poplar Bluff church.
The Palace of Praise is presenting the final 2018 performance of the Sounds of Christmas tonight at 7 pm.
Admission to the show is free and tickets for a dinner theater experience starting at 5 pm are also available for $12.

POPLAR BLUFF CHEERLEADERS TO HOST KIDS NIGHT OUT THIS WEEK
Cheerleaders in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a kids night out this week.
Officials say that the event has been scheduled for 6 to 8:30 pm Thursday night at the Poplar Bluff High School Auxiliary Gym. Registration will begin at 5:45 pm in the PBHS Commons area.
There are multiple activities planned for children who attend, including games, crafts, face painting, music, and Christmas movies.

SMALL EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A small earthquake shook parts of Southeast Missouri Tuesday evening.
According to the United States Geological Survey, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7:37 pm Tuesday.
The earthquake was located a little over four miles southwest of New Madrid and had a depth of around three and a half miles.

ARKANSAS TEENAGER KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Northeast Arkansas teenager was killed Monday evening in a single vehicle wreck in Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 6 pm on Highway 108 in Dunklin County. Officials say that a vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

TWO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MEN ARRESTED ON GUN RELATED CHARGES IN POPLAR BLUFF
Two Southeast Missouri brothers were arrested on gun related charges earlier this month in Poplar Bluff.
According to authorities, 32 year old Benjamin Price and Joseph Price, of Poplar Bluff, were taken into custody on December 5th at a Poplar Bluff convenience store.
The pair had multiple guns and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition inside a vehicle. They were evaluated at a psychiatric hospital and reportedly told doctors that they were planning to kill multiple individuals.
MAN BEING SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO PEMISCOT COUNTY HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Authorities in Pemiscot County are searching for a suspect in connection to a homicide investigation.
A search is underway for 57 year old Dennis Green Sr., who could be in a blue Chevy pickup truck with a possible Missouri plate number of 2SX 931.
According to the Caruthersville Police Department, Green is a black male, five feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, with brown eyes.
It is unknown what direction Green was travelling, but he is believed to be armed with an unknown type of handgun.
If you see Green, you are advised to not approach him and contact your law enforcement agency.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE ORGANIZES DONATIONS FOR AREA FAMILIES
Thirteen area families will be receiving a collection of Christmas essentials from Three Rivers College.
Each family will receive food for a Christmas dinner, a Crock Pot, table-top Christmas tree, wreath, and presents for children. The College organized the donations in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and AmeriCorps.
Donations were given by Three Rivers staff and faculty, as well as area businesses including Briggs and Stratton, the Ozark Federal Credit Union, and Harps/10 Box.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE IN STODDARD COUNTY
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested a Poplar Bluff man on a drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year old Jordan Holloway was taken into custody at around 12:40 pm Monday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Following the arrest, Holloway was held at the Stoddard County Jail.
FUNDING ANNOUNCED FOR TWO POPLAR BLUFF CLASSROOM PROJECTS
Two 'innovative educational projects' valued at more than $3,500 total will be funded thanks to the Poplar Bluff School Foundation.
According to Poplar Bluff school officials, the foundation board unanimously approved the projects during a meeting held last month as part of the nonprofit's mini-grant program, which funds proposals based on merit above and beyond regular classroom budgets.
The projects will allow students to collect data for NASA and participate in group activities using digital microscopes.
ELLSINORE MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON TERRORIST THREAT WARRANT
An area man has been taken into custody in Carter County on a terrorist threat warrant.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 56 year old Billy Stovall, of Ellsinore, was arrested Monday afternoon on a Poplar Bluff Police Department felony warrant for terrorist threat – 2nd degree.
Following the arrest, Stovall was transported to the Butler County Jail.

The 32nd Annual Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown is scheduled for next week.
Teams from as far away as Kansas City will be in Poplar Bluff from Thursday, December 27th through Saturday, December 29th for the basketball tournament.
Joining the defending champion Poplar Bluff Mules will be Kirby High School from Memphis, Kauffman High School out of Kansas City, Christian County High School from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Tennessee’s Central High School and Humboldt High Schools, along with Fayetteville High School and Jonesboro High School from Arkansas.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Poplar Bluff woman was taken to an area hospital Friday morning after being involved in a single vehicle wreck in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 11 am, when a vehicle driven by 24 year old Kathryn Modglin ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The incident happened on Route W, 2 miles north of Poplar Bluff.
Modglin suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff Hospital.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL REMINDS MOTORISTS TO DRIVE SAFE OVER CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to drive safely over the Christmas holiday.
Remember to check your vehicle before you travel to ensure that it is in good working condition. Make sure you are well rested before driving to your destination, no matter how short the distance.
According to the Highway Patrol, last year there were 1,618 traffic crashes during the Christmas counting period. In those crashes, seven people were killed and another 541 were injured.
The 2018 Christmas holiday counting period begins at 6 pm Friday night, and ends at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 25th.

DITCH REPAIRS TO CAUSE ROAD DELAYS THIS WEEK IN BUTLER COUNTY
Route 142 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane for part of this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform ditch repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located just south of County Road 332 to County Road 338.
Weather permitting, work will be performed from 8 am to 2 pm daily through Wednesday.
POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST GIFT WRAP FUNDRAISER
An area middle school will be hosting a fundraiser today.
The Poplar Bluff Middle School will have a gift wrap fundraiser for St. Jude from 3 to 7 pm today at the Middle School STEM room.
According to a post on the Middle School’s Facebook page, attendees can drop their packages off and there will be no set prices, all that’s being asked for is a monetary donation to St. Jude.

ILLINOIS MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES IN STODDARD COUNTY
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested an Illinois man on multiple felony charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Joshua Jones, of McClure, Illinois, was taken into custody yesterday morning on felony charges of tampering with a motor vehicle 1st degree and resisting arrest by fleeing.
Jones is also facing charges of careless and imprudent driving and speeding.
Following the arrest, he was held at the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office.
FISK LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
Parade lights will be illuminating a Butler County city this weekend.
The Fisk Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm Saturday night, with line-up beginning at 5 pm at the Fisk school.
The parade will run through the city before ending at the Fisk Park where Santa will be available to take pictures.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths Across America program this weekend.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.
The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.
KIWANIS NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT SET FOR TONIGHT
The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis will be hosting a Christmas concert tonight to raise money for Kiwanis Bacon Park.
The Kiwanis Nashville Christmas Concert has been scheduled for 7 pm at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. There will be performances from multiple artists, including Kyle Richards, Tiffany Ashton, Nathan Shore, Gabrielle Metz, Macy Mac, and Tristan Ashton.
General admission tickets are available for $10 and VIP Tickets, including food, drink, and the chance to hang out with the performers, are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.
SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS TO PREMIERE THIS WEEKEND AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE
A Poplar Bluff Church is preparing for their annual performance of a Christmas themed play.
The Palace of Praise is presenting the Sounds of Christmas beginning at 7 pm nightly from December 16th through the 19th.
Admission to the show is free, but you can also purchase tickets for a dinner theater experience and reserved seating for the show on the 17, 18th, and 19th.

BOMB THREAT HOAX HITS AREA COMMUNITIES
Emailed bomb threats were sent to business and schools across the nation on Thursday including some in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.
A business in Sikeston reportedly received a bomb threat in an email and The Greene County Arkansas Office of Emergency Management says that a threat was also made to an area business, but did not elaborate if the threat was conducted over email or in some other manner.
Officials in Atlanta, New Orleans, and Anchorage, Alaska, say that businesses received emailed bomb threats Thursday that were part of what they believe is a nationwide hoax.
Police are working with the FBI to investigate every threat.
WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Wayne County today to replace a pipe under Route B.
Officials say that during the project, Route B will be closed between County Roads 315 and 339.
Work is scheduled to be performed today from 8 am to 3 pm, weather permitting.

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting in Sikeston has been released.
According to authorities, 32 year old Ricky Walker Jr. was shot Tuesday night and later died from his injuries.
A Sikeston man is facing a murder charge in connection to the incident. According to Missouri Case Net, 19 year old D’ereck Whitney, of Sikeston, is facing charges including murder 1st degree, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and multiple counts of assault 1st degree.
Two other people have also reportedly been arrested in connection to the shooting.

DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD MOLESTATION WARRANT
A Dexter man is in custody this morning following his arrest on a child molestation warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 19 year old Joshua Neal Ballard was recently arrested on a warrant for 3rd degree child molestation.
Ballard’s bond was set at $5,000 and officials say he remained in jail as of this morning.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE RECEIVES GRANT FOR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Some Three Rivers College students will get a chance to learn through on the job training thanks to a grant.
Officials say that the college has received a grant from the Division of Workforce Development through the Missouri Registered Apprenticeship Program that has allowed for the start of an apprenticeship program in cooperation with area manufacturers.
The goal of the program is to work with local businesses to create highly-skilled workers and the program currently includes Industrial Maintenance Technicians and Tool and Die Maintenance.
Students in the program learn a specific skill set through on-the-job training and also receive additional education from their employer and Three Rivers College.
ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL TO BE HELD THIS MORNING AT POPLAR BLUFF HOSPITAL
Officials with Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center say that an active shooter drill will be held this morning on the hospital’s Oak Grove campus.
The exercise will simulate an active shooter response from local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services. All areas of the hospital will be included and staff will also be participating in the drill.
The drill is scheduled to be held between 8:30 am and noon this morning.
AREA MAN FLOWN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING WAYNE COUNTY WRECK
Two people were injured Wednesday evening in a Wayne County wreck.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 6:20 pm when a vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle on US Highway 67.
The driver of the first vehicle, 67 year old Larry Hutson, of Greenville, was seriously injured and flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital. A passenger in the first vehicle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred last night at an area residence. One person has died in connection to the incident and their identity has not been released.

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WOMAN KILLED IN WEEKEND WRECK
A Northeast Arkansas woman has died in connection to a weekend wreck.
According to the Arkansas State Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 7 pm Sunday night in Lawrence County.
A vehicle was attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 412 when it was struck by another vehicle. The second vehicle was then struck by another vehicle.
Officials say that the driver of the second vehicle, 33 year old Caitlyn Walker, of Imboden, has died. Two other people were injured and transported to area hospitals.
POPLAR BLUFF STUDENTS DONATE OVER FIVE THOUSAND CANNED GOODS TO AREA FOOD PANTRY
Students in Poplar Bluff have donated over five thousand canned goods to an area food pantry.
The Poplar Bluff Junior High School donated a total of 5,700 canned goods to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry through a project that was carried out by the history department throughout November.
According to officials this was the largest single donation the Food Pantry has received.
Principal Candace Warren says that the annual fundraiser went along with Junior High's focus this school year of community service. The students have also raised money for the Bread Shed in a pumpkin decorating contest and have delivered hand-painted rocks to area nursing homes.
FIVE ARRESTED AFTER METH AND MARIJUANA FOUND AT KENNETT RESIDENCE
Five people have been taken into custody after drugs were found at a residence in Kennett.
Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that officers were dispatched to a residence Sunday night in reference to a victim locating some of their stolen property at the residence.
Following an investigation, officers located a large amount of the victim’s property inside the residence and in the yard. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, and narcotic related paraphernalia inside the residence.
69 year old Robert Jones, 57 year old Jeremiah Bryant, and 55 year old Stephanie Hickman, of Kennett, 36 year old Brandy Hyde of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and 27 year old Paul Henn, of Gamaliel, Arkansas, were all arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
Official say that more arrests are expected as the incident, as well as other related incidents, remain under investigation.

According to the City of Doniphan Facebook page, the Doniphan Department of Transportation is planning to work today on Grand Avenue and Court Square.

Officials in Stoddard County say that a Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody on a drug related warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 26 year old Cody Fisher was recently arrested on a warrant for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Fisher’s bond was set at $12,500, cash only.
OZARK FOOTHILLS RECYCLING CENTER ACCEPTING USED CARDBOARD BOXES
With many people doing their Christmas shopping online, over the holidays you might find yourself with more cardboard boxes than you know what to do with.
According to the Ozark Foothills Recycling Center, a cardboard collection trailer will be placed within the Walmart Supercenter parking lot in Poplar Bluff from December 21st through January 4th.
Remember to save your Christmas cardboard shopping boxes, gift boxes, calendar backings, and other cardboard-based packaging, and deposit them in the recycling trailer, which will be available 24-hours a day during the collection period.
Officials are asking that people don’t put trash on the trailer.
FILING TO BEGIN TODAY FOR SEATS ON THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD
Filing is set to begin today for two seats on the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
Officials say that filing for the two three year terms on the School Board will run from 8 am to 5 pm today through January 15th, while school is in session.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFERING SUPPORT TO VICTIMS OF IMPAIRED DRIVERS
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is offering a program to help support victims of impaired drivers.
Lieutenant Colonel Eric Olson, acting superintendent of the Highway Patrol, says that the Filling a V.O.I.D. program has provided information, support, and assistance to victims and their families since 1997.

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST TOY DRIVE THIS WEEKEND
A Poplar Bluff church will be hosting a toy drive this weekend.
Mount Calvary Powerhouse Church will be presenting its 12th Annual Community Toy Drive from 10 am until noon on Saturday, December 15th.
There will be toys, hats, gloves, coats, shoes, electronics, food baskets, and a bike raffle.
The Toy Drive will be located at the church’s gymnasium on Speedway Drive in Poplar Bluff.

POPLAR BLUFF LEAF PICK UP SCHEDULE TO BEGIN THIS WEEK
The leaf pick up schedule for the city of Poplar Bluff is set to begin this week.
According to city officials, the leaf pick up is scheduled to be in Ward 2 from today through December 21st. It will move to other city wards in the following weeks.
Leaves may also be disposed of at the landfill located on the east side of the city. To reach the landfill, take Bartlett Street to “F” Street and go under the railroad crossing. Follow the graveled portion of “F” Street around the curve and the disposal is located on the left side of the road. There are signs marking the location.
The site is open for leaf disposal from 8 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A Poplar Bluff man was taken to an area hospital Friday evening after being involved in a single vehicle wreck in Ripley County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 5 pm when a vehicle driven by 24 year old Timothy Elliott ran off the side of Route 142 in Oxly, and struck a sign.
Elliott suffered moderate injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff Hospital.
KIWANIS NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis will be hosting a Christmas concert this weekend to raise money for Kiwanis Bacon Park.
The Kiwanis Nashville Christmas Concert has been scheduled for 7 pm Friday night at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. There will be performances from multiple artists, including Kyle Richards, Tiffany Ashton, Nathan Shore, Gabrielle Metz, Macy Mac, and Tristan Ashton.
General admission tickets are available for $10 and VIP Tickets, including food, drink, and the chance to hang out with the performers, are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths Across America program on December 15th.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.
The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.

RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR TONIGHT
Parade lights will be shining bright tonight in Downtown Poplar Bluff during the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
Lineup will begin at 5:45 pm at the Hydro Adventures parking with the parade starting 6:30 pm.
The parade route will run from Highway 142 at McDonald’s through downtown Poplar Bluff before ending back at the Black River Coliseum.

SNOW POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas could be seeing some snowfall this weekend.
According to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service, precipitation may reach portions of the region during the day on Saturday, but temperatures will be mainly above freezing in the afternoon. The primary time period of concern is Saturday night, when temperatures will fall to under 30 degrees.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for some of our more western listening areas, including Oregon and Howell Counties in Missouri, and Randolph and Lawrence Counties in Arkansas.
Those areas could see multiple inches of snow accumulation this weekend.
WINTER WEATHER DRIVING TIPS
With the possibility of winter weather coming up this weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to exercise caution while driving.
The patrol says that planning ahead can help in case of an emergency. Before you travel, make certain your vehicle is in good working condition.
The Highway Patrol suggests keeping your fuel tank at least half full. Place an ice scraper, tire chains, battery booster cables, blankets, flashlights, and a bag of sand or cat litter in your trunk.
Also, take the time to make sure the windows are completely cleared to ensure visibility and clear your driveway so that your vehicle enters the roadway safely. Allow extra driving time for you to reach your destination at a slow, safe speed.

DONIPHAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TO HOST CHILI COOK-OFF
A Doniphan church will be hosting a chili cook-off this weekend.
The 1st annual Chili Cook-Off has been scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, December 8th at Doniphan United Methodist Church.
The cost is $25 to complete and $5 for a bowl or five samples. Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Boy Scout Troop 4069 in Doniphan.
SMALL EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Did you feel the earthquake that shook parts of Southeast Missouri earlier this week?
According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.2 earthquake was recorded at 9:10 am Wednesday morning.
The quake was located just over six miles north of New Madrid and had a depth almost 10 miles.
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION RELEASES NEW APP TO HELP USERS FIND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
The Missouri Department of Conservation has unveiled a new phone app to help Missourians find outdoor activities in your area.
Officials say that the app, MO Outdoors, can help users find MDC conservation areas, fishing accesses, hiking trails, shooting ranges, and nature centers around the state based on your desired types of outdoor activities including birdwatching, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, or shooting.
The app also connects users to area regulations and season information, hours of operation, and interactive maps of area boundaries and features. Users can also download maps for offline use.
The free MO Outdoors app is available for download through Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for Apple devices.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY BURGLARY WARRANT
Authorities in Dunklin County say that an area teen has been arrested on a felony warrant.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18 year old Lucas Hardaway, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a felony Butler County Warrant for burglary.
Following the arrest, Hardaway was held at the Dunklin County Jail.

WATER BILLS LOST FOR CAMPBELL RESIDENTS
City officials in Campbell say that a mail issue is the reason residents have not received their water bill for December.
According to the City of Campbell Facebook page, the water bills were mailed on November 29th, however the post office lost the bills.
Residents are being asked to call 246-2541 to find out the amount of your December water bill.
WHEATLEY HISTORIC PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION TO HOST CHRISTMAS GALA THIS WEEKEND
The Wheatley Historic Preservation Association will be hosting their 11th Annual Christmas Gala this weekend.
The gala has been scheduled for Saturday at the Wheatley School in Poplar Bluff. There will be a meet and greet beginning at 5:30 pm, followed by a dinner at 6:30.

CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR ROAD PROJECTS IN WANYE AND DUNKLIN COUNTIES
During a meeting held Wednesday, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded multiple contracts for road projects in Southeast Missouri.
A contract was awarded for pavement improvements to Route 49 from Route 34 to Route 67 in Wayne County.
Contracts were also awarded for pavement improvements for Routes D, F, N, AC, and WW in Dunklin County.
Additional information, including timelines and impacts to traffic, will be released prior to the start of construction.
BOLLINGER COUNTY MUSEUM TO HOST CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISING EVENT THIS WEEKEND
A Southeast Missouri Museum will be hosting a fundraising event this weekend.
Officials with the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History say that Christmas at the Museum has been scheduled for 1 to 4 pm on Sunday at Mayfield Hall in Marble Hill.

MUSICAL SET DURING WORLD WAR ONE SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT IN POPLAR BLUFF
An acclaimed Theatre Company from Minnesota will be performing tonight in Poplar Bluff.
Theater Latté Da will be performing the dramatic musical, “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” beginning at 7 pm at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.
The musical is about a true event from World War One where Allied and German soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate Christmas together.

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN BOLLINGER COUNTY

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 54 year old Nancy Herren, of Cape Girardeau, was driving on Route KK when her vehicle ran off the side of the roadway, hit an embankment, and overturned.

DEXTER WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK NEAR SIKESTON
A Dexter woman was injured early Tuesday morning in a wreck in the Sikeston area.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle struck an embankment off of Route BB at around 1:30 am Tuesday in Scott County.
The driver of the vehicle, 41 year old Veronica Foster, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
PURSUIT LEADS TO ARREST OF TENNESSEE MAN IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A Tennessee man has been arrested following a pursuit that began over the weekend in Kennett.
According to the Kennett Police Department, on Saturday officers were contacted by the Dyersburg, Tennessee Police Department and by OnStar in reference to a vehicle that had been reported stolen and had been detected as being in Kennett.
Officers located and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however it failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued into Pemiscot County and onto Interstate I-155 toward Tennessee. As the vehicle began to approach the Mississippi River Bridge, OnStar was able to connect to the vehicle and shut it down.
The driver, identified as 23 year old Matthew Stanfield, of Dyersburg, was arrested for receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Officials say Stanfield was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
NORTHEAST ARKANSAS COMMUNITY AWARDED GRANT FOR PARK IMPROVEMENTS
A Northeast Arkansas community has announced they have received a grant for park improvements.
According to the Facebook page for the city of O’Kean, the city recently received a Fun Park Grant.
The grant will allow them to get playground equipment, accessibility improvements, handicap parking, benches, a BBQ grill, and trash cans for the park.
OPEN HOUSE TO BE HELD TOMORROW TO DISCUSS ELK MANAGEMENT
The Missouri Department of Conservation will be holding an open house Thursday in Southeast Missouri to discuss elk management.
Officials say that attendees can learn how the MDC is managing wild elk in the Ozarks, including herd size and anticipated growth, herd health, and how the MDC is working with area landowners.
MDC Staff will also be discussing options for a limited, future elk hunting season, including season timing, length, harvest limits, allowed hunting methods, and more.
The open house has been scheduled for 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Eminence High School Cafeteria.
PIPE REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE CLOSURE IN RIPLEY COUNTY TODAY
Route T in Ripley County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe under the roadway.
MoDOT officials say the section of Route T to be closed is located between County Road T-2 and County Road 160E-28.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to take place from 7:30 am to 2 pm.

According to Relay for Life of Butler County, the Poplar Bluff Police Department raised $660 as a part of the American Cancer Society No Shave November Challenge.

A Southwest Missouri man was taken into custody Sunday morning in Dunklin County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 21 year old James Manfield, of Seymour, was arrested on multiple felony charges including possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
Mansfield was held at the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office.
HUNTERS HARVEST OVER 6,500 DEER DURING ANTLERLESS PORTION OF DEER SEASON
Hunters across Missouri harvested over 6,500 deer during the antlerless portion of the fall firearms deer season.
According to preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation, hunters harvested 6,585 deer during the antlerless portion which ran from November 30th to December 2nd.
The harvest total was down from last year’s total of 7,773 deer.
MDC officials say the top harvest counties were Callaway, Osage, and Pike.
MAN ARRESTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
Authorities in Dunklin County have arrested an area man on drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Michael Brown, of Hornersville, was taken into custody at around 10:45 am Monday morning on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated - drugs.
Brown is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance – K2.
Following the arrest, he was held at the Dunklin County Jail.
POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR CHOIR TO PERFORM TONIGHT
Some Poplar Bluff Middle School students will be putting on a show tonight at an area church.
According to the PBMS Facebook page, the Middle School Honor Choir will be performing tonight beginning at 6:30 pm.
The performance will be held at Westwood Baptist Church.
FILING TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK FOR POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL ELECTION
Filing is set to begin next week for two spots on the Poplar Bluff City Council.
City officials say that a councilperson will be elected from both Ward One and Ward Three during the general election scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019.
Both seats will be for three year terms.
Candidates can file for the election beginning on Tuesday, December 11th. The final day for candidate filing will be Tuesday, January 15th.

A Sikeston man got an extra holiday gift courtesy of a Missouri Lottery Scratchers Ticket.
Lottery officials say that Christopher Boese purchased a $5 “Cash Craze” ticket on November 16th and would come to learn that the ticket was a $100,000 winner.

An area man was taken into custody over the weekend in Stoddard County on a felony drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 56 year old Darryl King, of Broseley, was arrested Saturday night on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
King is also facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, he was held at the Stoddard County Jail.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 6 pm, when a vehicle driven by 61 year old Kenneth Gregg ran off the side of Route Y, overcorrected, and overturned multiple times.
Gregg suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Cape Girardeau Hospital.
BUTLER COUNTY TORNADO SIRENS TO BE TESTED TODAY
Authorities in Butler County will be testing the tornado sirens today.
According to Butler County Emergency Management Director Robbie Myers, the sirens are scheduled to be tested today at noon.
Myers says that the tests will be conducted every month on the first Monday.
15TH ANNUAL SANTA LAND EVENT TO BE HELD NEXT MONTH IN POPLAR BLUFF
The 15th Annual Santa Land event has been scheduled for tomorrow in Poplar Bluff.
According to the Poplar Bluff Park Department, the event will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Black River Coliseum. Individuals with special needs may enter at 5 pm.

MILWAUKEE WOMAN ARRESTED ON COCAINE CHARGE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Authorities in New Madrid County have arrested a woman over the weekend on a cocaine charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 47 year old Tawan Perkins, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was taken into custody Friday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of cocaine.
Perkins is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

MODOT TO HELP GRANT CHRISTMAS WISHES TO AREA FAMILIES
The Missouri Department of Transportation will be participating in the Christmas Angels program again this year to help grant Christmas wishes to Southeast Missouri families.
This year's event will be held on Thursday, December 6th, with chili orders due by 4 pm tomorrow. The cost is $5 and will include a 16-ounce cup of chili, crackers and chips.
Current MoDOT employees and retirees volunteer to cook, pack and deliver chili for the event. To place an order, call (573) 472-5294. Orders of six or more in the Sikeston area can be delivered.
With the funds raised, volunteers purchase gifts for children who would not otherwise receive them. Last year, the event raised nearly $7,000, helping over 80 children.

A Southeast Missouri High School will be competing for a state football championship this weekend.
The Class 1 State Championship game between the Hayti Indians and the Lincoln Cardinals will begin at 3 pm Saturday at Faurot Field in Columbia.
Hayti will be trying to finish a perfect season after not giving up more than 14 points in any game this year. Their closest game was in the Class 1, District 1 Championship game where they defeated Valle Catholic 28 to 7.
DONIPHAN WOMAN FACING MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A Doniphan woman is facing multiple drug related charges following her arrest last night in Ripley County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year old Haley Emmons, of Doniphan, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine and Xanax.
Emmons is also facing charges of driving while intoxicated – drugs, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and careless and imprudent driving.
TWIN RIVERS STUDENT WINS AWARD AT ANNUAL BRIDGE BUILDING COMPETITION
A Twin Rivers High School student has won an award during the Missouri Department of Transportation’s 15th annual Bridge Building competition which was held on Thursday.
The annual competition challenges high school juniors and seniors to design and construct the most efficient model bridge using limited materials—15 pieces of balsa wood, thread and glue.
Twin Rivers student Kiera Williams-Hosentfe won the computer based electronic bridge award.
Oak Ridge, Chaffee and Notre Dame High Schools finished in first, second and third place respectively for best overall performance.
27TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND IN BERNIE
The 27th Annual Christmas Craft Fair in Bernie has been scheduled for this weekend.
The Craft Fair will be held from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday at the Bernie Community Center on Highway 25.

The benefit for Sandy Sullivan Thompson will be held from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday at the R&B Vet Club in Doniphan.
There will be a chili and potluck dinner as well as an auction and raffle.
MODOT TO HELP GRANT CHRISTMAS WISHES TO AREA FAMILIES
The Missouri Department of Transportation will be participating in the Christmas Angels program again this year to help grant Christmas wishes to Southeast Missouri families.
This year's event will be held on Thursday, December 6th, with chili orders due by 4 pm on Tuesday, December 4th. The cost is $5 and will include a 16-ounce cup of chili, crackers and chips.
Current MoDOT employees and retirees volunteer to cook, pack and deliver chili for the event. To place an order, call (573) 472-5294. Orders of six or more in the Sikeston area can be delivered.
With the funds raised, volunteers purchase gifts for children who would not otherwise receive them. Last year, the event raised nearly $7,000, helping over 80 children.
