AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING IN SIKESTON

A fatal shooting is under investigation in Sikeston.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred last night at an area residence. One person has died in connection to the incident and their identity has not been released.

Officials have activated the SEMO Major Case Squad and the incident remains under investigation.

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WOMAN KILLED IN WEEKEND WRECK

A Northeast Arkansas woman has died in connection to a weekend wreck.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 7 pm Sunday night in Lawrence County.

A vehicle was attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 412 when it was struck by another vehicle. The second vehicle was then struck by another vehicle.

Officials say that the driver of the second vehicle, 33 year old Caitlyn Walker, of Imboden, has died. Two other people were injured and transported to area hospitals.

POPLAR BLUFF STUDENTS DONATE OVER FIVE THOUSAND CANNED GOODS TO AREA FOOD PANTRY

Students in Poplar Bluff have donated over five thousand canned goods to an area food pantry.

The Poplar Bluff Junior High School donated a total of 5,700 canned goods to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry through a project that was carried out by the history department throughout November.

According to officials this was the largest single donation the Food Pantry has received.

Principal Candace Warren says that the annual fundraiser went along with Junior High's focus this school year of community service. The students have also raised money for the Bread Shed in a pumpkin decorating contest and have delivered hand-painted rocks to area nursing homes.

FIVE ARRESTED AFTER METH AND MARIJUANA FOUND AT KENNETT RESIDENCE

Five people have been taken into custody after drugs were found at a residence in Kennett.

Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that officers were dispatched to a residence Sunday night in reference to a victim locating some of their stolen property at the residence.

Following an investigation, officers located a large amount of the victim’s property inside the residence and in the yard. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, and narcotic related paraphernalia inside the residence.

69 year old Robert Jones, 57 year old Jeremiah Bryant, and 55 year old Stephanie Hickman, of Kennett, 36 year old Brandy Hyde of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and 27 year old Paul Henn, of Gamaliel, Arkansas, were all arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

Official say that more arrests are expected as the incident, as well as other related incidents, remain under investigation.

POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST GIFT WRAP FUNDRAISER

An area middle school will be hosting a fundraiser next week.

The Poplar Bluff Middle School will have a gift wrap fundraiser for St. Jude on Monday, December 17th.

According to a post on the Middle School’s Facebook page, attendees can drop their packages off and there will be no set prices, all that’s being asked for is a monetary donation to St. Jude.

The fundraiser will be held from 3 to 7 pm at the Middle School STEM room.

STREET REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN DONIPHAN

Two Doniphan roads will be impacted by repairs today.

According to the City of Doniphan Facebook page, the Doniphan Department of Transportation is planning to work today on Grand Avenue and Court Square.

During the repairs, Grand Avenue will be closed between Cherry Street and Plum Street, while Court Square will be limited to one lane.
