POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOLS HOLIDAY BREAK TO BEGIN THURSDAY

Students in Poplar Bluff are getting ready to begin their holiday break.

Poplar Bluff R-1 School officials say that the holiday break this year will begin on Thursday, December 20th.

Students will return to class on Thursday, January 3rd.

The Poplar Bluff R-1 School Board will be holding their regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 pm on December 20th in the administrative building.

THEFT REPORT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN KENNETT

A theft report led to a drug arrest last week in Kennett.

According to the Kennett Police Department, on December 14th officers were dispatched to an area residence in reference to a theft.

The reporting party indicated that a family member had stolen money and other items from another family member who also lives in the home. During an investigation, officers located the stolen items but not the money. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and narcotic related paraphernalia.

Officers subsequently arrested 44 year old Glen Abernathy, of Kennett, for possession of a controlled substance.

While at the residence, officers also arrested 36 year old Candi Walters, of Senath, on an active state of Arkansas warrant issued out of Clay County.

BLOOMFIELD POLICE ASKING THE PUBLIC TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A STOLEN VEHICLE

Authorities in Bloomfield are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a stolen vehicle.

According to the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety, a white Chevrolet Cavalier was recently taken from an area residence. Officials say the vehicle has damage to the front driver side fender.

Anyone who has information about the location of the vehicle is asked to contact the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety at 573-568-3576.

TONIGHT IS THE FINAL NIGHT FOR SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE

Tonight is the final night to see a Christmas themed show at a Poplar Bluff church.

The Palace of Praise is presenting the final 2018 performance of the Sounds of Christmas tonight at 7 pm.

Admission to the show is free and tickets for a dinner theater experience starting at 5 pm are also available for $12.

POPLAR BLUFF CHEERLEADERS TO HOST KIDS NIGHT OUT THIS WEEK

Cheerleaders in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a kids night out this week.

Officials say that the event has been scheduled for 6 to 8:30 pm Thursday night at the Poplar Bluff High School Auxiliary Gym. Registration will begin at 5:45 pm in the PBHS Commons area.

There are multiple activities planned for children who attend, including games, crafts, face painting, music, and Christmas movies.

SMALL EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

A small earthquake shook parts of Southeast Missouri Tuesday evening.

According to the United States Geological Survey, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7:37 pm Tuesday.

The earthquake was located a little over four miles southwest of New Madrid and had a depth of around three and a half miles.
