ARKANSAS TEENAGER KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Northeast Arkansas teenager was killed Monday evening in a single vehicle wreck in Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 6 pm on Highway 108 in Dunklin County. Officials say that a vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

The 16 year old driver from Jonesboro was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15 year old passenger suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Jonesboro hospital.
TWO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MEN ARRESTED ON GUN RELATED CHARGES IN POPLAR BLUFF
Two Southeast Missouri brothers were arrested on gun related charges earlier this month in Poplar Bluff.
According to authorities, 32 year old Benjamin Price and Joseph Price, of Poplar Bluff, were taken into custody on December 5th at a Poplar Bluff convenience store.
The pair had multiple guns and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition inside a vehicle. They were evaluated at a psychiatric hospital and reportedly told doctors that they were planning to kill multiple individuals.
MAN BEING SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO PEMISCOT COUNTY HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Authorities in Pemiscot County are searching for a suspect in connection to a homicide investigation.
A search is underway for 57 year old Dennis Green Sr., who could be in a blue Chevy pickup truck with a possible Missouri plate number of 2SX 931.
According to the Caruthersville Police Department, Green is a black male, five feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, with brown eyes.
It is unknown what direction Green was travelling, but he is believed to be armed with an unknown type of handgun.
If you see Green, you are advised to not approach him and contact your law enforcement agency.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE ORGANIZES DONATIONS FOR AREA FAMILIES
Thirteen area families will be receiving a collection of Christmas essentials from Three Rivers College.
Each family will receive food for a Christmas dinner, a Crock Pot, table-top Christmas tree, wreath, and presents for children. The College organized the donations in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and AmeriCorps.
Donations were given by Three Rivers staff and faculty, as well as area businesses including Briggs and Stratton, the Ozark Federal Credit Union, and Harps/10 Box.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE IN STODDARD COUNTY
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested a Poplar Bluff man on a drug charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year old Jordan Holloway was taken into custody at around 12:40 pm Monday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Following the arrest, Holloway was held at the Stoddard County Jail.
FUNDING ANNOUNCED FOR TWO POPLAR BLUFF CLASSROOM PROJECTS
Two 'innovative educational projects' valued at more than $3,500 total will be funded thanks to the Poplar Bluff School Foundation.
According to Poplar Bluff school officials, the foundation board unanimously approved the projects during a meeting held last month as part of the nonprofit's mini-grant program, which funds proposals based on merit above and beyond regular classroom budgets.
The projects will allow students to collect data for NASA and participate in group activities using digital microscopes.
ELLSINORE MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON TERRORIST THREAT WARRANT
An area man has been taken into custody in Carter County on a terrorist threat warrant.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 56 year old Billy Stovall, of Ellsinore, was arrested Monday afternoon on a Poplar Bluff Police Department felony warrant for terrorist threat – 2nd degree.
Following the arrest, Stovall was transported to the Butler County Jail.

A Williamsville man was taken into custody Saturday evening in Butler County.

The 32nd Annual Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown is scheduled for next week.
Teams from as far away as Kansas City will be in Poplar Bluff from Thursday, December 27th through Saturday, December 29th for the basketball tournament.
Joining the defending champion Poplar Bluff Mules will be Kirby High School from Memphis, Kauffman High School out of Kansas City, Christian County High School from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Tennessee’s Central High School and Humboldt High Schools, along with Fayetteville High School and Jonesboro High School from Arkansas.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Poplar Bluff woman was taken to an area hospital Friday morning after being involved in a single vehicle wreck in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 11 am, when a vehicle driven by 24 year old Kathryn Modglin ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The incident happened on Route W, 2 miles north of Poplar Bluff.
Modglin suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff Hospital.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL REMINDS MOTORISTS TO DRIVE SAFE OVER CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to drive safely over the Christmas holiday.
Remember to check your vehicle before you travel to ensure that it is in good working condition. Make sure you are well rested before driving to your destination, no matter how short the distance.
According to the Highway Patrol, last year there were 1,618 traffic crashes during the Christmas counting period. In those crashes, seven people were killed and another 541 were injured.
The 2018 Christmas holiday counting period begins at 6 pm Friday night, and ends at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 25th.

DITCH REPAIRS TO CAUSE ROAD DELAYS THIS WEEK IN BUTLER COUNTY
Route 142 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane for part of this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform ditch repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located just south of County Road 332 to County Road 338.
Weather permitting, work will be performed from 8 am to 2 pm daily through Wednesday.
POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST GIFT WRAP FUNDRAISER
An area middle school will be hosting a fundraiser today.
The Poplar Bluff Middle School will have a gift wrap fundraiser for St. Jude from 3 to 7 pm today at the Middle School STEM room.
According to a post on the Middle School’s Facebook page, attendees can drop their packages off and there will be no set prices, all that’s being asked for is a monetary donation to St. Jude.

An area man has died following a head-on collision Thursday morning in Northeast Arkansas.
Officials with the Arkansas State Police tell KWOC News that the crash occurred shortly before 6 am yesterday when two vehicles collided on Highway 67 North in Clay County.

ILLINOIS MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES IN STODDARD COUNTY
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested an Illinois man on multiple felony charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Joshua Jones, of McClure, Illinois, was taken into custody yesterday morning on felony charges of tampering with a motor vehicle 1st degree and resisting arrest by fleeing.
Jones is also facing charges of careless and imprudent driving and speeding.
Following the arrest, he was held at the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office.
FISK LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
Parade lights will be illuminating a Butler County city this weekend.
The Fisk Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm Saturday night, with line-up beginning at 5 pm at the Fisk school.
The parade will run through the city before ending at the Fisk Park where Santa will be available to take pictures.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths Across America program this weekend.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.
The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.
KIWANIS NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT SET FOR TONIGHT
The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis will be hosting a Christmas concert tonight to raise money for Kiwanis Bacon Park.
The Kiwanis Nashville Christmas Concert has been scheduled for 7 pm at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. There will be performances from multiple artists, including Kyle Richards, Tiffany Ashton, Nathan Shore, Gabrielle Metz, Macy Mac, and Tristan Ashton.
General admission tickets are available for $10 and VIP Tickets, including food, drink, and the chance to hang out with the performers, are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.
SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS TO PREMIERE THIS WEEKEND AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE
A Poplar Bluff Church is preparing for their annual performance of a Christmas themed play.
The Palace of Praise is presenting the Sounds of Christmas beginning at 7 pm nightly from December 16th through the 19th.
Admission to the show is free, but you can also purchase tickets for a dinner theater experience and reserved seating for the show on the 17, 18th, and 19th.

BOMB THREAT HOAX HITS AREA COMMUNITIES
Emailed bomb threats were sent to business and schools across the nation on Thursday including some in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.
A business in Sikeston reportedly received a bomb threat in an email and The Greene County Arkansas Office of Emergency Management says that a threat was also made to an area business, but did not elaborate if the threat was conducted over email or in some other manner.
Officials in Atlanta, New Orleans, and Anchorage, Alaska, say that businesses received emailed bomb threats Thursday that were part of what they believe is a nationwide hoax.
Police are working with the FBI to investigate every threat.
WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Wayne County today to replace a pipe under Route B.
Officials say that during the project, Route B will be closed between County Roads 315 and 339.
Work is scheduled to be performed today from 8 am to 3 pm, weather permitting.

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting in Sikeston has been released.
According to authorities, 32 year old Ricky Walker Jr. was shot Tuesday night and later died from his injuries.
A Sikeston man is facing a murder charge in connection to the incident. According to Missouri Case Net, 19 year old D’ereck Whitney, of Sikeston, is facing charges including murder 1st degree, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and multiple counts of assault 1st degree.
Two other people have also reportedly been arrested in connection to the shooting.

DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD MOLESTATION WARRANT
A Dexter man is in custody this morning following his arrest on a child molestation warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 19 year old Joshua Neal Ballard was recently arrested on a warrant for 3rd degree child molestation.
Ballard’s bond was set at $5,000 and officials say he remained in jail as of this morning.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE RECEIVES GRANT FOR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Some Three Rivers College students will get a chance to learn through on the job training thanks to a grant.
Officials say that the college has received a grant from the Division of Workforce Development through the Missouri Registered Apprenticeship Program that has allowed for the start of an apprenticeship program in cooperation with area manufacturers.
The goal of the program is to work with local businesses to create highly-skilled workers and the program currently includes Industrial Maintenance Technicians and Tool and Die Maintenance.
Students in the program learn a specific skill set through on-the-job training and also receive additional education from their employer and Three Rivers College.
ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL TO BE HELD THIS MORNING AT POPLAR BLUFF HOSPITAL
Officials with Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center say that an active shooter drill will be held this morning on the hospital’s Oak Grove campus.
The exercise will simulate an active shooter response from local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services. All areas of the hospital will be included and staff will also be participating in the drill.
The drill is scheduled to be held between 8:30 am and noon this morning.
AREA MAN FLOWN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING WAYNE COUNTY WRECK
Two people were injured Wednesday evening in a Wayne County wreck.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 6:20 pm when a vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle on US Highway 67.
The driver of the first vehicle, 67 year old Larry Hutson, of Greenville, was seriously injured and flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital. A passenger in the first vehicle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
PIPE REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE DELAYS ON WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TODAY
Route V in Wayne County will be reduced today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace a pipe under the roadway.

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WOMAN KILLED IN WEEKEND WRECK
A Northeast Arkansas woman has died in connection to a weekend wreck.
According to the Arkansas State Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 7 pm Sunday night in Lawrence County.
A vehicle was attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 412 when it was struck by another vehicle. The second vehicle was then struck by another vehicle.
Officials say that the driver of the second vehicle, 33 year old Caitlyn Walker, of Imboden, has died. Two other people were injured and transported to area hospitals.
POPLAR BLUFF STUDENTS DONATE OVER FIVE THOUSAND CANNED GOODS TO AREA FOOD PANTRY
Students in Poplar Bluff have donated over five thousand canned goods to an area food pantry.
The Poplar Bluff Junior High School donated a total of 5,700 canned goods to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry through a project that was carried out by the history department throughout November.
According to officials this was the largest single donation the Food Pantry has received.
Principal Candace Warren says that the annual fundraiser went along with Junior High's focus this school year of community service. The students have also raised money for the Bread Shed in a pumpkin decorating contest and have delivered hand-painted rocks to area nursing homes.
FIVE ARRESTED AFTER METH AND MARIJUANA FOUND AT KENNETT RESIDENCE
Five people have been taken into custody after drugs were found at a residence in Kennett.
Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that officers were dispatched to a residence Sunday night in reference to a victim locating some of their stolen property at the residence.
Following an investigation, officers located a large amount of the victim’s property inside the residence and in the yard. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, and narcotic related paraphernalia inside the residence.
69 year old Robert Jones, 57 year old Jeremiah Bryant, and 55 year old Stephanie Hickman, of Kennett, 36 year old Brandy Hyde of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and 27 year old Paul Henn, of Gamaliel, Arkansas, were all arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
Official say that more arrests are expected as the incident, as well as other related incidents, remain under investigation.

According to the City of Doniphan Facebook page, the Doniphan Department of Transportation is planning to work today on Grand Avenue and Court Square.
During the repairs, Grand Avenue will be closed between Cherry Street and Plum Street, while Court Square will be limited to one lane.

Officials in Stoddard County say that a Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody on a drug related warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 26 year old Cody Fisher was recently arrested on a warrant for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Fisher’s bond was set at $12,500, cash only.
OZARK FOOTHILLS RECYCLING CENTER ACCEPTING USED CARDBOARD BOXES
With many people doing their Christmas shopping online, over the holidays you might find yourself with more cardboard boxes than you know what to do with.
According to the Ozark Foothills Recycling Center, a cardboard collection trailer will be placed within the Walmart Supercenter parking lot in Poplar Bluff from December 21st through January 4th.
Remember to save your Christmas cardboard shopping boxes, gift boxes, calendar backings, and other cardboard-based packaging, and deposit them in the recycling trailer, which will be available 24-hours a day during the collection period.
Officials are asking that people don’t put trash on the trailer.
FILING TO BEGIN TODAY FOR SEATS ON THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD
Filing is set to begin today for two seats on the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
Officials say that filing for the two three year terms on the School Board will run from 8 am to 5 pm today through January 15th, while school is in session.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFERING SUPPORT TO VICTIMS OF IMPAIRED DRIVERS
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is offering a program to help support victims of impaired drivers.
Lieutenant Colonel Eric Olson, acting superintendent of the Highway Patrol, says that the Filling a V.O.I.D. program has provided information, support, and assistance to victims and their families since 1997.

According to Captain Jeffrey Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E of the Highway Patrol, sometime during the month of December, Troop E officers will be conducting several driving while intoxicated saturation enforcement operations.
Vitale says the operations will be conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies.

POPLAR BLUFF LEAF PICK UP SCHEDULE TO BEGIN THIS WEEK
The leaf pick up schedule for the city of Poplar Bluff is set to begin this week.
According to city officials, the leaf pick up is scheduled to be in Ward 2 from today through December 21st. It will move to other city wards in the following weeks.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A Poplar Bluff man was taken to an area hospital Friday evening after being involved in a single vehicle wreck in Ripley County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 5 pm when a vehicle driven by 24 year old Timothy Elliott ran off the side of Route 142 in Oxly, and struck a sign.
Elliott suffered moderate injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff Hospital.
KIWANIS NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis will be hosting a Christmas concert this weekend to raise money for Kiwanis Bacon Park.
The Kiwanis Nashville Christmas Concert has been scheduled for 7 pm Friday night at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. There will be performances from multiple artists, including Kyle Richards, Tiffany Ashton, Nathan Shore, Gabrielle Metz, Macy Mac, and Tristan Ashton.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths Across America program on December 15th.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.

Parade lights will be shining bright tonight in Downtown Poplar Bluff during the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
Lineup will begin at 5:45 pm at the Hydro Adventures parking with the parade starting 6:30 pm.
The parade route will run from Highway 142 at McDonald’s through downtown Poplar Bluff before ending back at the Black River Coliseum.

SNOW POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas could be seeing some snowfall this weekend.
According to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service, precipitation may reach portions of the region during the day on Saturday, but temperatures will be mainly above freezing in the afternoon. The primary time period of concern is Saturday night, when temperatures will fall to under 30 degrees.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for some of our more western listening areas, including Oregon and Howell Counties in Missouri, and Randolph and Lawrence Counties in Arkansas.
Those areas could see multiple inches of snow accumulation this weekend.
WINTER WEATHER DRIVING TIPS
With the possibility of winter weather coming up this weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to exercise caution while driving.
The patrol says that planning ahead can help in case of an emergency. Before you travel, make certain your vehicle is in good working condition.
The Highway Patrol suggests keeping your fuel tank at least half full. Place an ice scraper, tire chains, battery booster cables, blankets, flashlights, and a bag of sand or cat litter in your trunk.
Also, take the time to make sure the windows are completely cleared to ensure visibility and clear your driveway so that your vehicle enters the roadway safely. Allow extra driving time for you to reach your destination at a slow, safe speed.

DONIPHAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TO HOST CHILI COOK-OFF
A Doniphan church will be hosting a chili cook-off this weekend.
The 1st annual Chili Cook-Off has been scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, December 8th at Doniphan United Methodist Church.
The cost is $25 to complete and $5 for a bowl or five samples. Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Boy Scout Troop 4069 in Doniphan.
SMALL EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Did you feel the earthquake that shook parts of Southeast Missouri earlier this week?
According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.2 earthquake was recorded at 9:10 am Wednesday morning.
The quake was located just over six miles north of New Madrid and had a depth almost 10 miles.
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION RELEASES NEW APP TO HELP USERS FIND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
The Missouri Department of Conservation has unveiled a new phone app to help Missourians find outdoor activities in your area.
Officials say that the app, MO Outdoors, can help users find MDC conservation areas, fishing accesses, hiking trails, shooting ranges, and nature centers around the state based on your desired types of outdoor activities including birdwatching, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, or shooting.
The app also connects users to area regulations and season information, hours of operation, and interactive maps of area boundaries and features. Users can also download maps for offline use.
The free MO Outdoors app is available for download through Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for Apple devices.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY BURGLARY WARRANT
Authorities in Dunklin County say that an area teen has been arrested on a felony warrant.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18 year old Lucas Hardaway, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a felony Butler County Warrant for burglary.
Following the arrest, Hardaway was held at the Dunklin County Jail.

WATER BILLS LOST FOR CAMPBELL RESIDENTS
City officials in Campbell say that a mail issue is the reason residents have not received their water bill for December.
According to the City of Campbell Facebook page, the water bills were mailed on November 29th, however the post office lost the bills.

WHEATLEY HISTORIC PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION TO HOST CHRISTMAS GALA THIS WEEKEND

CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR ROAD PROJECTS IN WANYE AND DUNKLIN COUNTIES
During a meeting held Wednesday, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded multiple contracts for road projects in Southeast Missouri.
A contract was awarded for pavement improvements to Route 49 from Route 34 to Route 67 in Wayne County.
Contracts were also awarded for pavement improvements for Routes D, F, N, AC, and WW in Dunklin County.

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN BOLLINGER COUNTY

A Dexter woman was injured early Tuesday morning in a wreck in the Sikeston area.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle struck an embankment off of Route BB at around 1:30 am Tuesday in Scott County.
The driver of the vehicle, 41 year old Veronica Foster, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
PURSUIT LEADS TO ARREST OF TENNESSEE MAN IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A Tennessee man has been arrested following a pursuit that began over the weekend in Kennett.
According to the Kennett Police Department, on Saturday officers were contacted by the Dyersburg, Tennessee Police Department and by OnStar in reference to a vehicle that had been reported stolen and had been detected as being in Kennett.
Officers located and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however it failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued into Pemiscot County and onto Interstate I-155 toward Tennessee. As the vehicle began to approach the Mississippi River Bridge, OnStar was able to connect to the vehicle and shut it down.
The driver, identified as 23 year old Matthew Stanfield, of Dyersburg, was arrested for receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Officials say Stanfield was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
NORTHEAST ARKANSAS COMMUNITY AWARDED GRANT FOR PARK IMPROVEMENTS
A Northeast Arkansas community has announced they have received a grant for park improvements.
According to the Facebook page for the city of O’Kean, the city recently received a Fun Park Grant.
The grant will allow them to get playground equipment, accessibility improvements, handicap parking, benches, a BBQ grill, and trash cans for the park.
OPEN HOUSE TO BE HELD TOMORROW TO DISCUSS ELK MANAGEMENT
The Missouri Department of Conservation will be holding an open house Thursday in Southeast Missouri to discuss elk management.
Officials say that attendees can learn how the MDC is managing wild elk in the Ozarks, including herd size and anticipated growth, herd health, and how the MDC is working with area landowners.
MDC Staff will also be discussing options for a limited, future elk hunting season, including season timing, length, harvest limits, allowed hunting methods, and more.
The open house has been scheduled for 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Eminence High School Cafeteria.
PIPE REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE CLOSURE IN RIPLEY COUNTY TODAY
Route T in Ripley County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe under the roadway.
MoDOT officials say the section of Route T to be closed is located between County Road T-2 and County Road 160E-28.

According to Relay for Life of Butler County, the Poplar Bluff Police Department raised $660 as a part of the American Cancer Society No Shave November Challenge.

A Southwest Missouri man was taken into custody Sunday morning in Dunklin County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 21 year old James Manfield, of Seymour, was arrested on multiple felony charges including possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
Mansfield was held at the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office.
HUNTERS HARVEST OVER 6,500 DEER DURING ANTLERLESS PORTION OF DEER SEASON
Hunters across Missouri harvested over 6,500 deer during the antlerless portion of the fall firearms deer season.
According to preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation, hunters harvested 6,585 deer during the antlerless portion which ran from November 30th to December 2nd.
The harvest total was down from last year’s total of 7,773 deer.
MDC officials say the top harvest counties were Callaway, Osage, and Pike.
MAN ARRESTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
Authorities in Dunklin County have arrested an area man on drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Michael Brown, of Hornersville, was taken into custody at around 10:45 am Monday morning on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated - drugs.
Brown is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance – K2.
Following the arrest, he was held at the Dunklin County Jail.
POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR CHOIR TO PERFORM TONIGHT
Some Poplar Bluff Middle School students will be putting on a show tonight at an area church.
According to the PBMS Facebook page, the Middle School Honor Choir will be performing tonight beginning at 6:30 pm.
The performance will be held at Westwood Baptist Church.
FILING TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK FOR POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL ELECTION
Filing is set to begin next week for two spots on the Poplar Bluff City Council.
City officials say that a councilperson will be elected from both Ward One and Ward Three during the general election scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019.
Both seats will be for three year terms.
Candidates can file for the election beginning on Tuesday, December 11th. The final day for candidate filing will be Tuesday, January 15th.

Gregg suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Cape Girardeau Hospital.
BUTLER COUNTY TORNADO SIRENS TO BE TESTED TODAY
Authorities in Butler County will be testing the tornado sirens today.
According to Butler County Emergency Management Director Robbie Myers, the sirens are scheduled to be tested today at noon.
Myers says that the tests will be conducted every month on the first Monday.

The 15th Annual Santa Land event has been scheduled for tomorrow in Poplar Bluff.

MILWAUKEE WOMAN ARRESTED ON COCAINE CHARGE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Authorities in New Madrid County have arrested a woman over the weekend on a cocaine charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 47 year old Tawan Perkins, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was taken into custody Friday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of cocaine.
Perkins is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

With the funds raised, volunteers purchase gifts for children who would not otherwise receive them. Last year, the event raised nearly $7,000, helping over 80 children.

A Doniphan woman is facing multiple drug related charges following her arrest last night in Ripley County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year old Haley Emmons, of Doniphan, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine and Xanax.
Emmons is also facing charges of driving while intoxicated – drugs, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and careless and imprudent driving.
TWIN RIVERS STUDENT WINS AWARD AT ANNUAL BRIDGE BUILDING COMPETITION
A Twin Rivers High School student has won an award during the Missouri Department of Transportation’s 15th annual Bridge Building competition which was held on Thursday.
The annual competition challenges high school juniors and seniors to design and construct the most efficient model bridge using limited materials—15 pieces of balsa wood, thread and glue.
Twin Rivers student Kiera Williams-Hosentfe won the computer based electronic bridge award.
Oak Ridge, Chaffee and Notre Dame High Schools finished in first, second and third place respectively for best overall performance.

With the funds raised, volunteers purchase gifts for children who would not otherwise receive them. Last year, the event raised nearly $7,000, helping over 80 children.

OVER $160,000 MISSING FROM GREENVILLE CITY FUNDS
The Missouri State Auditor says that over $160,000 are missing from Greenville City Funds.
According to Auditor Nicole Galloway, an audit was initiated as a part of a law enforcement investigation, which resulted in criminal charges filed by the Attorney General's Office this summer against former Greenville City Clerk Pamela Birmingham.

The Missouri State Auditor says that over $160,000 are missing from Greenville City Funds.
According to Auditor Nicole Galloway, an audit was initiated as a part of a law enforcement investigation, which resulted in criminal charges filed by the Attorney General's Office this summer against former Greenville City Clerk Pamela Birmingham.
The audit report details improper payroll and other payments, improperly cashed checks, and missing cash over a more than two year period while Birmingham performed the financial accounting functions.
A criminal investigation revealed the former city clerk deposited many of the checks written to her from the city, cash, and other unrelated checks into a personal bank account and spent $62,416 from this account on various personal items.
The report also detailed a lack of oversight by the city, which allowed the fraudulent activity to take place and continue undetected. The report includes recommendations to improve oversight of accounting functions, documentation of financial transactions, and record keeping processes.

CHILD SERIOUSLY INJURED IN PEMISCOT COUNTY WRECK
Three people were injured, one seriously, in a wreck late last night in Pemiscot County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred on US Highway 61 when a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle.
A child passenger in the first vehicle was seriously injured in the wreck and transported to a Blytheville hospital. The driver of the first vehicle and a teenage passenger each received moderate injuries and were both taken to the same hospital.
No injuries were listed for the driver of the second vehicle.
BRACKET RELEASED FOR 32ND ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF SHOWDOWN
The bracket has been released for the 32nd Annual Poplar Bluff Showdown.
According to Poplar Bluff Athletic Director Kent Keith, the tournament will begin December 27th and feature eight teams across four states at the Poplar Bluff Senior High gym.
The first round will feature the Poplar Bluff Mules taking on Memphis Central High School out of Tennessee.
Other first round match-ups include Fayetteville vs. Christian County, Jonesboro vs. Kirby, and Ewing Marion Kauffman vs. Humboldt.
The Showdown will run over three days from December 27th through the 29th. Tickets are on sale at the High School Athletic Department for $7 per day.
POPLAR BLUFF RESIDENT REAPPOINTED TO MISSOURI SEISMIC SAFETY COMMISSION
A Poplar Bluff man is one of two Southeast Missouri residents who have been reappointed to the Missouri Seismic Safety Commission.
According to Missouri Governor Mike Parson, Daryl Sorrell, of Poplar Bluff, and Joel Evans, of Portageville, have both been reappointed to the commission, which initiates a comprehensive program to prepare the state for responding to a major earthquake.
Sorrell is currently the General Manager of M & A Electric Power Cooperative and has been a member of the commission since 2016.
Evans is the President and CEO of the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation in Portageville.
MASS CASUALTY TRAUMA KITS GIFTED TO PARAGOULD POLICE DEPARTMENT
A Northeast Arkansas police department has been gifted multiple trauma kits from the Stop the Bleeding Foundation.
According to the Paragould Police Department Facebook Page, they have received six mass casualty trauma kits, which contain six tourniquets, pressure dressings, chest seals and a folding stretcher.
The Police Department says the gift was made possible by the #blueandyou foundation, who donated nearly $150,000 to Stop the Bleeding to train regional law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders in emergency life saving techniques
RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Route N in Ripley County will be closed today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace a pipe under the roadway.
The section of Route N to be closed is located one mile east of Route E.
Officials say that work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 3 pm.
CULVERT PIPE REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK IN STODDARD COUNTY
A culvert pipe replacement is set to cause delays this week in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Business 60 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane between Baliff Drive and Jeanette Lane so crews can replace the pipe under the roadway.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 3:30 pm daily through Friday.

AREA MAN ARRESTED ON ATTEMPTED BURGLARY WARRANT
Authorities in Stoddard County say that an area man has been taken into custody on an attempted burglary warrant.
Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 55 year old Joseph Capps, of Advance, was recently arrested on a warrant for unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and attempted burglary.
Capps bond was set at $17,500, cash only.
BULLETS FIRED INTO HOME IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
An investigation is ongoing into a report of shots being fired into a home in Southeast Missouri.
Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield tells KWOC News that early Saturday morning officers responded to a home on North Walnut Street in reference to shots being fired into a house.
Officers discovered the front glass window to the home had been shot out and also found bullet holes in the living room wall.
Two adults were in the living room at the time of the shooting but Stanfield says that no one was injured.

OVER 2,500 DEER HARVESTED DURING LATE YOUTH PORTION OF DEER SEASON
Missouri’s young hunters harvested over 2,500 deer this past weekend.
Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that hunters, ages 6 through 15, harvested 2,556 deer during Missouri’s late youth portion of the 2018 deer hunting season which ran from November 23rd through the 25th.
Southeast Missouri was well represented in the final totals with Wayne County being the top county in the state with 47 deer checked, followed by Ripley at 46; and Franklin, Macon, and Osage each having 45 deer checked.
Up next for deer hunting in Missouri is the antlerless portion of firearms deer season, which runs from November 30th through December 2nd.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
Southbound Route 67 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
The bridge involved is the Black River Bridge located between County Road 401 and Route JJ.
MoDOT officials say that work is scheduled to be performed from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
ROUTE B IN BUTLER COUNTY TO BE REDUCED TODAY AND TOMORROW
Route B in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today and tomorrow so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform edge rut repairs.
Officials say the section of roadway to be reduced is located from Business 60 to Route 51.
Work is scheduled to be performed from 7 am to 3:30 pm each day.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PUT ON FESTIVE PERFORMANCE
The Three Rivers College Music Department will be celebrating the season tomorrow night with a festive-themed performance.
“Imagine: Joy” will begin at 7 pm Tuesday night at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.
The performance will feature Three Rivers students, along with members of the community, performing in vocal ensembles, a large symphonic band, and a jazz ensemble.

ROAD PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY
Northbound Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction through the end of the year while contractor crews perform erosion repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located from Business 67 to 3.3 miles north of Business 67 at Greenville.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Monday, December 31st from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.
TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CARTER COUNTY WRECK OVER THE WEEKEND
A Southeast Missouri teenager was seriously injured on Saturday night following a single vehicle wreck in Carter County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 16 year old male from Ellsinore, was driving on Missouri Highway 21, when the vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned.
The teen was reportedly not wearing a safety device and was ejected from the vehicle.
He suffered serious injuries during the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
DATES SET FOR SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE
The dates have been set for a Christmas themed play at a Poplar Bluff church.
The Palace of Praise is presenting the Sounds of Christmas beginning at 7 pm nightly from December 16th through the 19th.
Admission to the show is free, but you can also purchase tickets for a dinner theater experience and reserved seating for the show on the 17, 18th, and 19th.

A Doniphan church will be hosting a chili cook-off in early December.
The 1st annual Chili Cook-Off has been scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, December 8th at Doniphan United Methodist Church.
The cost is $25 to complete and $5 for a bowl or five samples. Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Boy Scout Troop 4069 in Doniphan.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI SHERIFF PLEADS GUILTY TO FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT
A Southeast Missouri Sheriff has agreed to resign from his post as a part of a guilty plea on multiple charges.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, 35 year old Cory Hutcheson, of East Prairie, has pled guilty to wire fraud and to illegally possessing and transferring the means of identification of others, in this case mobile telephone numbers, without lawful authority, and in connection with the commission of the state felony crime of forgery.
As part of the plea, Hutcheson agreed to resign as Mississippi County Sheriff no later than November 24th.
His sentencing has been scheduled for February 28th. Hutcheson faces a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine of $250,000 on the wire fraud charge and not more than 5 years and a fine of $250,000 on the transfer of identification information charge.
PORTAGEVILLE POLICE SEEKING INFORMATION IN CONNECTION TO A LEAVING THE SCENE OF A CRASH INVESTIGATION
Authorities in Portageville are asking for the public’s assistance in connection to an ongoing investigation.
According to the Portageville Police Department, the police department and the highway patrol are investigating a leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that occurred at 12th and Mac Arthur.
Officials say that the suspect vehicle struck a building and is a 99-07 GMC truck or SUV.
The vehicle is possibly white in color, sustained front end damage and is missing the passenger side headlight, daytime running light, and splash guard on the bumper.

APPROXIMATELY 800 MEALS SERVED DURING COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER
Approximately 800 meals were served last week during the Poplar Bluff Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the High School.
According to Trish Wilson, food services office manager and safety coordinator, a total of 13 44-pound cases of turkey breast were purchased for the 9th annual event, which was held last Thursday.
The event was sponsored by Chartwells School Dining Services in collaboration with the Student Council.
The Student Council also collected $200 in donations for the Haven House. This brings their fundraising total to over $1,000 for the women's shelter. Students also accepted winter wear to help stock the Giving Closet.

The deadline is coming up to get your entry in for the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS AUTO TOUR TO OPEN THIS WEEKEND
The official opening of the 26th Annual Festival of Lights Auto Tour is set for Friday.
The Wappapello Lake Area Association and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be partnering for this year’s event at the Redman Creek East Campground from November 23rd through December 30th.
The free tour will be open on weekends from 4 to 9 pm through December 10th, and then every night from December 15th through the 30th.

MOTORISTS ENCOURAGED TO DRIVE SAFELY OVER THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Many Missouri residents are getting ready to get on the road to see their family over the Thanksgiving holiday, but officials are urging motorists to keep safety in mind.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, during the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, 17 people were killed and another 555 were injured in 1,364 traffic crashes.
During the holiday weekend, troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E., enforcing all traffic laws, and making themselves available to assist the public.

THANKSGIVING COOKING SAFETY TIPS
Thanksgiving is almost here, and the American Red Cross is reminding you to stay safe while you prepare the holiday dinner.
The Red Cross advises that cooks should avoid wearing loose clothing or dangling sleeves while preparing the holiday meal. You should also never leave the stove unattended – if the cook has to leave the kitchen even for a short time, they should turn off the stove.
Remember to clean cooking surfaces on a regular basis to prevent grease buildup and keep anything that can catch fire, including pot holders, oven mitts, and food packaging, away from the stove, oven or any other appliance in the kitchen that generates heat.
Children and pets also bring an increased chance of accidents and should be kept away from the cooking area.

A man was shot and killed Monday in Butler County.
Officials tell KWOC News that the incident occurred Monday evening on Highway 67, South of Poplar Bluff.
A man was found by officers in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Officials say that the shooter may have been firing in self defense during a possible car-jacking. The alleged shooter was at the scene when officers arrived.
Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells us that the deceased has been identified as 33 year old Joshua Goins, of Qulin. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Authorities are investigating the shooting and no arrests have been made.

Authorities in Stoddard County are investigating after the body of a missing woman was found.
According to the Bernie Police Department, Holly Cobb Kirkman had last been seen at her residence in Bernie on November 8th.
Authorities say that Kirkman was found dead in Bernie and the Major Case Squad was activated for the investigation.
ROAD WORK SET FOR THIS WEEK IN CARTER COUNTY
Westbound Route 60 in Carter County will be reduced to one lane over the next couple of days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
According to officials, the bridge is located over Cane Creek approximately 2 miles east of Ellsinore.
Work is scheduled to take place both today and tomorrow. The work zone will be left up overnight and will be marked with signs.
MAN INJURED IN POPLAR BLUFF SHOOTING INCIDENT
An investigation is underway after a man was shot Monday in Poplar Bluff.
According to Lieutenant Josh Stewart with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, early Monday morning officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Woods Street.
At the scene, officers found a 29 year old male who had a gunshot wound in his upper left abdomen and bruising on his right side.
When asked, the victim told officers that he did not know who shot him. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
MASS CASUALTY TRAINING EVENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF
Three Rivers College has scheduled its bi-annual mass casualty training event for today.
The event will be held today at the Bess Activity Center on the Poplar Bluff Campus of Three Rivers College. The training helps prepare students in participating programs for a mass casualty emergency such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
Students from several fields of study will participate in the training, including nursing, EMT, LPN, and Paramedic students. The training will also receive support from local hospitals and ambulance services.
In keeping with the training’s focus on realism, the students themselves will coordinate much of the event, with students serving in leadership, command, and control positions.
The type of disaster being used is also being kept a secret so students don’t have a chance to prepare beforehand.
CARTER COUNTY HEALTH CENTER TO HOLD HEPATITIS A AND FLU CLINIC TODAY
There will be a Hepatitis A and Flu Clinic today in Carter County.
The clinic will be at the Carter County Health Center located at 1611 Health Center Road in Van Buren.
They will have free Hepatitis A vaccines available for people over the age of 19. According to officials, as of November 8th, Carter County has had 21 laboratory confirmed cases of Hepatitis A reported as a part of a regional outbreak of the disease.

Lt. Josh Stewart with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News around 9 am Saturday, authorities received a call in reference to two subjects fighting in the roadway, at the intersection of Woodrow and Henry Streets.
At the scene, officers found a man lying in a ditch unresponsive. The man, identified as a 59 year old resident, of Poplar Bluff, was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, 25 year old Skylar Carter, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He is being held in the Butler County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Poplar Bluff students will be getting out of class for a full week for Thanksgiving.
Poplar Bluff R-1 Superintendent Scott Dill tells KWOC News that classes will be dismissed for the Poplar Bluff R-I school district today through the 23rd for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Dill says the regular class schedule will resume on Monday, November 26th.
POPLAR BLUFF KIWANIS CLUB HOSTING PAJAMA DRIVE
The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club is collecting new pajamas for area children.
The Kiwanis Club Pajama drive is going on all this month and they are looking for boys and girls new pajamas in sizes ranging from newborn to young adults.
Pajamas can be dropped off at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce. All pajamas will be donated to children in foster care before Christmas.
NEW MADRID MAN KILLED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY WRECK INVOLVING SEVERAL VEHICLES
A New Madrid man has died from injuries he received in a multi vehicle wreck over the weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 50 year old Kenneth Alford was driving southbound on Interstate 55 in New Madrid County at around 5 pm Saturday, when his vehicle slid into another vehicle, which caused both vehicles to catch fire.
Alford was pronounce dead at the scene.
A passenger in the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was air lifted to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED LATER THIS WEEK FOR THANKSGIVING
Driver Examination Stations across the state of Missouri are going to be closed later this week.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the stations will be closed both Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Normal operations will resume on Monday, November 26th.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE OFFICERS TO PUT AWAY THEIR RAZORS TO RAISE MONEY FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
Police officers in Poplar Bluff will be putting away their razors this month to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, officers will be participating in the “No Shave November” charity event.
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose during treatments.
Police personnel will be donating the money they would typically spend on shaving and grooming to help educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

MOTORISTS ENCOURAGED TO DRIVE SAFELY OVER THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Many Missouri residents are getting ready to get on the road to see their family over the Thanksgiving holiday, but officials are urging motorists to keep safety in mind.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, during the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, 17 people were killed and another 555 were injured in 1,364 traffic crashes.
During the holiday weekend, troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E., enforcing all traffic laws, and making themselves available to assist the public.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CARTER COUNTY WRECK
A man was seriously injured Thursday morning in a wreck on a snow covered Carter County road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Dewayne Avery, of Grandin, was driving on Highway B at around 8 am when his vehicle slid off the roadway and overturned.

Avery, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the wreck and suffered serious injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
BERNIE MAN IN CUSTODY ON ATTEMPTED STATUTORY RAPE WARRANT
Authorities in Stoddard County say that a Bernie man is in custody on a warrant for attempted statutory rape.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 69 year old Jimmy Sloan, of Bernie, was recently arrested on a warrant for three counts of attempted statutory rape.
Sloan’s bond was set at $75,000, cash only, and officials say he remained in jail as of this morning.
FIRE DAMAGES POPLAR BLUFF HOUSE
A house in Poplar Bluff was damaged during an early morning fire on Thursday.
According to authorities, the fire was located at a vacant house on Ethel Street.
There were no injuries reported and authorities are investigating a cause for the fire.
ADVANCE MAN FACING TERRORIST THREAT CHARGE
An Advance man has been taken into custody on a terrorist threat charge.
According to a post on the Sikeston R-6 Schools Facebook page, yesterday they learned of threatening comments that were made by a former student through social media referencing Sikeston High School.
The school says that Sikeston DPS has quickly acted and there is no current threat to students or staff.
According to Missouri Case Net, 20 year old Braeden Herron has been taken into custody on a charge of making a terrorist threat - 1st degree.
His bond was set at $50,000, cash only.
DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR ENTRY INTO THE RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE
The deadline has been extended to get your entry in for the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm on Friday, December 7th. Entry forms are available at River Radio as well as on our Facebook page and website and are being accepted through November 23rd.
The parade route this year will run from Highway 142 at McDonalds through downtown Poplar Bluff before looping back and ending at the Black River Coliseum.

TWO ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE IN BUTLER COUNTY
Two Arkansas men were taken into custody Thursday evening in Butler County on a methamphetamine charge.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 43 year old Larry Kirk, of Ravenden, and 27 year old Jeremy Thomas, of Hoxie, were each arrested at around 6 pm Thursday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Following their arrests, both men were held at the Butler County Jail.
DRAINAGE REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
Route U in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane beginning today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform drainage repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located at County Road 681 and continuing for half a mile to the west.
Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 4 pm daily through Tuesday, November 20th.
