FATAL SHOOTING UNDER INVESTIGATION IN BUTLER COUNTY 

A man was shot and killed Monday in Butler County.  

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that the incident occurred Monday evening on Highway 67, South of Poplar Bluff.

A man was found by officers in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Officials say that the shooter may have been firing in self defense during a possible car-jacking. The alleged shooter was at the scene when officers arrived.  

Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells us that the deceased has been identified as 33 year old Joshua Goins, of Qulin. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow morning.  

Authorities are investigating the shooting and no arrests have been made.

BODY OF MISSING BERNIE WOMAN FOUND IN STODDARD COUNTY 

Authorities in Stoddard County are investigating after the body of a missing woman was found. 

According to the Bernie Police Department, Holly Cobb Kirkman had last been seen at her residence in Bernie on November 8th.  

Authorities say that Kirkman was found dead in Bernie and the Major Case Squad was activated for the investigation. 

ROAD WORK SET FOR THIS WEEK IN CARTER COUNTY 

Westbound Route 60 in Carter County will be reduced to one lane over the next couple of days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.  

According to officials, the bridge is located over Cane Creek approximately 2 miles east of Ellsinore. 

Work is scheduled to take place both today and tomorrow. The work zone will be left up overnight and will be marked with signs.

MAN INJURED IN POPLAR BLUFF SHOOTING INCIDENT 

An investigation is underway after a man was shot Monday in Poplar Bluff.  

According to Lieutenant Josh Stewart with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, early Monday morning officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Woods Street.  

At the scene, officers found a 29 year old male who had a gunshot wound in his upper left abdomen and bruising on his right side. 

When asked, the victim told officers that he did not know who shot him. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

MASS CASUALTY TRAINING EVENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF 

Three Rivers College has scheduled its bi-annual mass casualty training event for today.  

The event will be held today at the Bess Activity Center on the Poplar Bluff Campus of Three Rivers College. The training helps prepare students in participating programs for a mass casualty emergency such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack.  

Students from several fields of study will participate in the training, including nursing, EMT, LPN, and Paramedic students. The training will also receive support from local hospitals and ambulance services. 

In keeping with the training’s focus on realism, the students themselves will coordinate much of the event, with students serving in leadership, command, and control positions.  

The type of disaster being used is also being kept a secret so students don’t have a chance to prepare beforehand. 

CARTER COUNTY HEALTH CENTER TO HOLD HEPATITIS A AND FLU CLINIC TODAY 

There will be a Hepatitis A and Flu Clinic today in Carter County.  

The clinic will be at the Carter County Health Center located at 1611 Health Center Road in Van Buren.  

They will have free Hepatitis A vaccines available for people over the age of 19. According to officials, as of November 8th, Carter County has had 21 laboratory confirmed cases of Hepatitis A reported as a part of a regional outbreak of the disease.
