SUSPECT BEING SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO ARMED ROBBERY AT BUTLER COUNTY INTERNET CAFE
Authorities in Butler County are investigating a reported armed robbery.
Investigator Randal Huddleston, with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, says the robbery occurred early Monday morning at an area internet café.
Here’s Huddleston with more.
RANDAL HUDDLESTON:
On Monday morning around 5:45 a.m. Butler County deputies were dispatched to the internet cafe on Highway 53 in reference to the report of an armed robbery. Upon their arrival, deputies were advised that a white male wearing black sweatpants with black shorts over them and a long sleeve black shirt wearing a paintball mask entered the internet Café. He appeared to be very unfamiliar with the layout of the premises. His main goal was to get to the back room where the safe was at. It took him approximately two to three minutes to locate that back room. Once there he kicked the door into the room. An employee who was monitoring the cameras in that room at that time was ordered at gunpoint on the ground and made to open the safe. The cashier also advised us that the white male suspect was carrying a black semi-automatic hand gun. The total amount of cash that the suspect ended up with was around $671. The suspect then left the building and fled the scene in what is believed to be a tan to gold color Malibu or Impala. At this point in time the Butler County Sheriff's Department is following numerous leads in this case. If anyone has information or knows who the suspect or the car might belong to, they are urged to call the Butler County Sheriff's Department at 785-8444.
911 SERVICES IN MULTIPLE SOUTHEAST MISSOURI COUNTIES POSSIBLY INTERUPTED ON MONDAY
Multiple counties in Southeast Missouri experienced interruption to phone services and possible 911 services Monday due to damage to a fiber optic line.
Officials tell us the outages possibly affected Stoddard, Dunklin, and Scott Counties.
Personnel with Verizon Wireless and Local Exchange Carrier were on scene and working to restore service.
APPROACH REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
Route N in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform approach repairs.
The work zone is located between County Road 214 and County Road 243.
Weather permitting, work will performed from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED ABOUT THEFT FROM AREA VEHICLE DEALERSHIP
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, officials in Poplar Bluff have released more information about the thefts of tires and wheels from an area vehicle dealership.
We spoke with Lieutenant Josh Stewart with the Poplar Bluff Police Department about the thefts.
JOSH STEWART:
On Sunday at approximately 9 o'clock a.m. employees of Baldwin GMC located in the 400 block of South 11th Street reported locating several vehicles on the lot which had had tires and wheels removed. The vehicles had been set down on concrete blocks. The damages and losses estimated between 10 and 20 thousand dollars. Throughout the investigation it was determined that a white van, originally stolen from a Cape Girardeau dealership on July 30th, was used during the theft. This van was used also in the theft from a dealership in Cape Girardeau that same date to steal four sets of wheels and tires. The van is described as a 2007 Ford E150 bearing Illinois registration 60910 Union. The similar thefts have been reported throughout the multi-state area. Some of these locations include Collinsville, Illinois, Germantown, Highland, Carlisle, Overland Park, Kansas, Dexter, and Cape Girardeau. TWO ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY BEING SEEN LEAVING VACANT RESIDENCE WITH SEVERAL ITEMS
Two people are facing a burglary charge after they were allegedly observed leaving a vacant residence in Poplar Bluff with several items.
Lieutenant Darron Moore with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells us more about the incident.

On Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. officers responded to the 1200 Block of South 11th Street after receiving a call from a witness saying she has observed a white male and female leaving a vacant residence with several items and loading those items into a white truck. The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted its occupants Ronnie Duren and Cherrie Schnitker and asked them about the property in the bed of the truck. Both claimed ownership of the property. Officers checked the residence in question and discovered an open window into the residence. The owner of the building responded to the location and identified the property as belonging to him. Both Duren and Schnitker were lodged in the Butler County Justice Center on charges of 2nd degree burglary. Duren also had outstanding warrants through Butler County for receiving stolen property, passing bad checks, and a city warrant for assault.
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB MOVES TO POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS
The Poplar Bluff Boys and Girls Club is relocating to the Poplar Bluff Middle School campus due to damage to the club’s previous home.
Structural damage was discovered on the roof of the Hentz Center, which has been the location of the Boys and Girls Club for over a decade.
The Middle School, which is presently serving 120 students grades four to six in the former band room, will add seventh grade and up in what was known as the JROTC building located between E.T. Peters Gym and Kay Porter Theater.
The building will also serve as the office headquarters for the after-school program, which began moving in last week. The club will share access to the gym, as well as Bacon Park for recreational activities.
Until the facility is up and running, there are about 50 students utilizing the former Teen Center across the street from Hentz in the church annex.

MAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK NEAR BLOOMFIELD
A Marble Hill man has died following a single vehicle wreck over the weekend in Stoddard County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the wreck occurred at around 9 pm Saturday night on Highway M near Bloomfield.
The vehicle ran off the side of the road, overturned, and ejected the driver, 22 year old Travis Bennett. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT FROM AREA AUTO DEALERSHIP
The Poplar Bluff Police Department is investigating a theft from a local auto dealership.
Lieutenant Josh Stewart with the PBPD tells us that several wheels were taken from the dealership and a white van is being sought in connection to the theft.

2016 BUTLER COUNTY FAIR BEGINS TODAY
The 2016 Butler County Fair will get under way today at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff.
Exhibits will be available from noon until 8 pm, with the silent auction also beginning at noon.
The other event scheduled for today is the 4-H/FFA Public Speaking Contest. Check in will be held at 4:45 pm, with the contest starting at 5 pm.

INMATE ESCAPES FROM MISSISSIPPI COUNTY DETENTION CENTER
A search is underway after an inmate escaped over the weekend in Southeast Missouri.
According to authorities, 49 year old Edward Lusk, of Bloomfield, escaped from the Mississippi County Detention Center on Saturday.
The Charleston Department of Public Safety is reporting that Lusk was last seen in Charleston and is reported to have violent tendencies.

MAN FACING MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE FOLLOWING FATAL WRECK
A Patton man was taken into custody Sunday shortly after a wreck which killed two Farmington residents in Bollinger County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 49 year old Paul Patton allegedly crossed the center line of Missouri Highway 72 Sunday afternoon and struck a motorcycle head on.
The two riders of the motorcycle, 60 year old Debra Smith and 58 year old Richard Augustine, were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Patton was arrested a short time after the wreck and is facing two counts of manslaughter.
GOVERNOR NIXON PARDONS TWO WHO ENTERED GUILTY PLEAS IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon announced on Friday that he had granted pardons to nine people, including two who had entered guilty pleas in Southeast Missouri.
One of the pardons went to Dawn Wallace, who pleaded guilty to forgery in Butler County in 1992 and was placed on five years’ probation, which she successfully completed.
Another went to Joseph McVay, who pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in Pemiscot County in 1996. He was placed on five years’ probation, which he also successfully completed.
Governor Nixon said that the pardons went to men and women who have gone on to live law-abiding lives and through their conduct, have demonstrated that they are deserving of a pardon.
ENDANGERED PERSON ADVISORY UPDATED FOR MISSING 13 YEAR OLD GIRL
Authorities have updated the Endangered Person Advisory that was issued last week for a teenage girl who is missing out of Dent County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 13 year old Harley Hopper, was seen by a witness leaving her residence with a backpack and getting into the suspect vehicle. She has not been contacted since.
The possible suspect is believed to be 22 year old Kenneth Dylan Whitehead. According to the Highway Patrol, family has stated that Whitehead has a history of violence and possible drug use.
The vehicle involved is a white, 2016 GMC full size pickup, bearing an Arizona registration AH09306. The pickup was rented from a U-Haul rental in Iowa. Officials say that the subjects are possibly en route to an unknown location in Florida.

MAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS LEG INJURY FOLLOWING PEDESTRIAN VS. TRAIN INCIDENT
A man has been flown to a Memphis hospital following a pedestrian vs. train incident Thursday morning.
According to the Campbell Police Department, at around 6 am Thursday officers responded to an area railroad intersection in connection to the incident.
At the scene, they found 39 year old Jon M. Bevill Jr. approximately 300 feet west of the railroad crossing. Bevill had suffered a serious leg injury, but was alert and conscious.
Campbell Police say that the Union Pacific Railroad Police are investigating the incident.
ENDANGERED PERSON ADVISORY ISSUED FOR MISSING 13 YEAR OLD GIRL

The possible suspect is believed to be 22 year old Kenneth Dylan Whitehead. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 187 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. Whitehead could have ties to the Sullivan area or the state of Ohio.
The vehicle involved is a white, older model, GMC full size pickup, bearing an unknown registration. It was last seen northbound on Missouri-19 in Salem.

TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING ALLEGED STABBING IN KENNETT
Two people are in custody in connection to an alleged stabbing in Kennett.
Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell us that officers were dispatched to a disturbance Wednesday night, shortly before 8 pm. When they arrived, they found that one person had been stabbed in the arm and the suspects had fled the scene.
A short time later, two suspects were located during a traffic stop and placed under arrest. 58 year old Robert Easley and 48 year old Cynthia Lester, both of Kennett, are being held at the Dunklin County Jail pending formal charges from the State Prosecutors Office.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO ARMED ROBBERY
A man who was being sought in connection to an armed robbery in Caruthersville has been taken into custody.
According to authorities, 38 year old Anthony Jackson was wanted following an armed robbery at a Casey’s General Store Wednesday night. He was arrested Thursday morning and is facing a charge of 1st degree robbery.
Another man has also been taken into custody in connection to the robbery. His name was not available.
EAST PRAIRIE MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT FOR KIDNAPPING AND DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Updating a story we brought to you earlier this week, an East Prairie man has been taken into custody following a warrant being issued for his arrest.
According to authorities, 40 year old Joseph Latamondeer was arrested Thursday in Mississippi County.
A warrant was issued last week for Latamondeer on charges of armed criminal action, 1st degree domestic assault, and kidnapping.
A woman told authorities last week that she had been assaulted by Latamondeer.
STODDARD COUNTY FAIR CONTINUES TODAY
Festivities are set to continue today at the Stoddard County Fair.
Starting at 7 pm tonight, Bootheel Tractor Pullers will be live at Arena A, while the second night of karaoke will be featured at Arena B. Tonight’s main stage performance will be the Jason Young Band, also beginning at 7 pm.
Multiple events are on the schedule for Saturday, including the Buyers Breakfast at 8 am, the 4H and FFA Livestock Auction at 9 am, and the Demo Derby at 7 pm. MAN GIVEN PROBATION ON EMBEZLEMENT CHARGE
A man has been given probation on an embezzlement charge.
According to the United States Department of Labor, in June, John McCain pled guilty to one count of embezzling $30,948 in union funds. McCain is the former Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1016 in Poplar Bluff.
He was given two years probation and a fine earlier this week.

PEDESTRIAN DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE NEAR POPLAR BLUFF
A Williamsville man has died after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell us that the vehicle struck 24 year old David Bratton on Route T, seven miles north of Poplar Bluff. The incident occurred at around 9 pm.
Bratton was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
ONE INJURED IN PEDESTRIAN VERSUS TRAIN CRASH
One man has been injured in connection to a pedestrian versus train crash in Campbell.
The name of the victim and his current condition has not been released.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION TO CARUTHERSVILLE ROBBERY
Authorities in Caruthersville are searching for a suspect who is begin called armed and dangerous following an alleged robbery Wednesday night.
38 year old Anthony Jackson is wanted in connection to the armed robbery at Casey’s General Store on Truman Boulevard.
Another man has also been taken into custody in connection to the robbery. His name was not available.

TEENAGER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO SCHOOL SHOOTING THREAT IN IRON COUNTY
Authorities in Iron County have released the identity of a teenager who was arrested in connection to a school shooting threat made at Arcadia Valley High School on September 9th.
According to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, 17 year old Justin Buffington was arrested on a charge of making a terrorist threat. He is currently being held at the Iron County Jail.
State, federal and local Law enforcement agencies assisted during the investigation.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT FOR 1ST DEGREE SEX ABUSE
A Dexter man has been taken into custody on a controlled substance warrant.
According to the Dexter Police Department, 21 year old Hunter Allen Chadd was recently arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance and 1st degree sex abuse with physical harm.
Chadd’s bond was set at $20,000.
NAYLOR R-2 SCHOOLS TO BE CLOSED TODAY
Naylor R-2 students will not be in class today due to a service being held for Jason Rose.
Rose, who was 39 years old when he died on Sunday, had served as Principal at Naylor Elementary School as well as Associate Pastor of New Covenant Fellowship Church in Poplar Bluff.
According to the Naylor R-2 Facebook page, there will be no school today so that students and staff may attend the Celebration of Life service for Rose. The service will be held at New Covenant Fellowship Church at 2 pm.
THURSDAY AT THE STODDARD COUNTY FAIR
Multiple events are on the schedule tonight at the Stoddard County Fair.
The night will begin at 6 pm with cattle and hog judging at Arena A followed by the FFA Tractor Rodeo at 7 pm.
Also beginning at 7 pm will be karaoke at Arena B and a performance by the Justin Heskett Band on the Fair’s Main Stage. A hypnosis and magic show will also be featured tonight at the Fair.

OVER YEAR LONG ROAD PROJECT UNDERWAY IN CARTER COUNTY
Route M in Carter County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction through late next year so contractor crews can perform shoulder improvements.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone is located from US 60 to the end of state maintenance.
Weather permitting, work will continue daily through Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 from 6 am to 7 pm, including weekends as necessary.

ACCIDENTAL DROWNING RULED AS CAUSE OF DEATH FOR MAN IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
Officials in Clay County say that a body was found over the weekend.
Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller tells KWOC News that the body was found Saturday evening in Black River.
An autopsy confirmed the identity of the body as Dennis Franks. The incident has been ruled as an accidental drowning.
DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR VOTING IN PINK GLOVE DANCE COMPETITION
Voting is almost finished for the 2016 Pink Glove Dance Competition.
The Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition is a breast cancer prevention campaign to honor those who have been affected by the disease and raise money for a cure.
Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is participating in the competition with the goal of winning a $15,000 donation for the United Cancer Assistance Network.

Voting will come to an end this Friday, September 23rd. The winner will then be announced on September 30th.

WAYNE COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING THEFT OF FIREARMS
Wayne County authorities are asking for the public’s help after multiple firearms were recently stolen in the Williamsville area.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, two firearms were stolen Tuesday along with a blue Dell laptop. One of the firearms is a Marlin 30-30 with a camo sling. The other is a camo Mossberg 835 ultra mag shotgun.
Officials believe the firearms are still in the Williamsville area. Anyone who has information about the thefts is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
HAYTI MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY DRUG CHARGES
A Hayti man has been taken into custody in Pemiscot County on multiple felony drug charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Greg Garner was arrested Monday night on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine and manufacturing a controlled substance for marijuana.
Garner is also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

TWO DEAD FOLLOWING REYNOLDS COUNTY COLLISION
Two Bourbon residents have died following a wreck Monday morning in Reynolds County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 11 am on Highway 21, near Centerville.
A vehicle, driven by 60 year old Ronald Reinke, of Fortuna, allegedly crossed over the road and was struck in the passenger side by another vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle, 53 year old Jeffrey Reeves, and a passenger, 49 year old Lynn Reeves, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS
A Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody in Butler County on multiple warrants.
According to the Highway Patrol, 48 year old Nick Patten was arrested Monday night on warrants out of Butler County for a probation violation, New Madrid County for burglary, and Poplar Bluff for failure to appear for shoplifting.
Following the arrest, Patten was held at the Butler County Jail.

Authorities are searching for an East Prairie man in connection to an incident last week where he allegedly assaulted a woman.
According to authorities, the victim said that she had been assaulted by 40 year old Joseph Latamondeer.

FOUR CITIZENS HONORED BY HIGHWAY PATROL
Four citizens have been honored by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Southeast Missouri.
Rick Spargo, Ronald Chapman, Trent Ray, and James Willis were presented Honorary Trooper Certificates Monday morning at the Troop E Headquarters, in Poplar Bluff.
On June 12th, Spargo and Chapman had helped to flip a burning vehicle upright and remove the injured and unconscious occupants.
On June 4th, Ray and Willis both swam into flooded water in Ripley County to help a man who had crashed into the water off of US 160. Both men helped prevent the man from drowning.
The Honorary Trooper Certificate is presented to a non-employee who performs in an exemplary manner, and under dangerous conditions, to aid another.
STODDARD COUNTY FAIR OFFICIALY KICKS OFF WITH PARADE TONIGHT
The 89th Annual Stoddard County Fair will officially kick off this evening in Dexter.
The annual Stoddard County Fair parade will begin at 5:30 pm in downtown Dexter.
Other events planned for the fair today include youth games at the fair arena directly after the parade along with a performance from Keith Morrison at 7 pm on the Main Stage.

MODOT CREWS TO BE IN CARTER COUNTY BEGINNING TODAY
Route P in Carter County will be reduced to one lane this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can partially overlay the roadway.
Work will be performed daily from 6:30 am to 5 pm through Thursday. The section of roadway to be affected is located between US 60 and the end of state maintenance.

WYATT PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO FIRST DEGREE MURDER
A Poplar Bluff man has pled not guilty following his arrest in connection to an area murder.
According to the Missouri Case Net, 39 year old Eric Wyatt appeared in court last week, waived arraignment, and pled not guilty on a charge of first degree murder.
He was arrested on Thursday in connection to the death of 79 year old Marion Carter, of Poplar Bluff.
A preliminary hearing for the case was scheduled for October 6th.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON MANSLAUGHTER WARRANT
A Poplar Bluff woman was taken into custody over the weekend on a manslaughter warrant.
According to authorities, 46 year old Pamela Cochran was arrested Saturday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on a Butler County Warrant for involuntary manslaughter.
Cochran was held at the Stoddard County Sherriff’s Office on a $25,000 bond.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES
Authorities in Ripley County have taken a Poplar Bluff man into custody on multiple felony charges.
According to the Highway Patrol, 33 year old James Gluck was arrested Saturday evening on felony charges of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Gluck was transported to the Doniphan Police Department on a 24 hour hold.
TWO BUTLER COUNTY ROAD PROJECTS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation say that two road projects are scheduled to be done today in Butler County.
Route W will be reduced to one lane so crews can perform pavement repairs from Route O to Route KK.
Work will performed from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Route 53 in Butler County will be also be reduced to one lane from 8 am to 3 pm today for bridge maintenance.
The bridge is located over Black River between County Roads 202 and 205.
MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY
An area man is facing multiple drug related charges in connection to his arrest in Butler County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 29 year old Carl Hiles, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested shortly after noon on Sunday.
He is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while suspended.
MAN IN CUSTODY ON CHARGES OF CHILD MOLESTATION AND STATUTORY RAPE
A Southeast Missouri man is facing multiple charges including child molestation.
According to Missouri Case Net, a warrant was issued on Friday for 52 year old Christopher Jenkins, of New Madrid, on three counts each of child molestation, statutory rape, and statutory sodomy.
Jenkins was taken into custody by the New Madrid Police Department.
NON COMPLIANT SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
A non compliant sex offender has been taken into custody in New Madrid County.
New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens tells KWOC News that 58 year old Willie Mays Jr., of New Madrid, was wanted on an active warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
Stevens says Mays was also wanted for questioning in a sexual assault which occurred on September 15th in Lilbourn.
ROAD WORK SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK IN CARTER COUNTY
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Carter County today to in Carter County partially overlay Route Y.
During the project, Route Y will be reduced to one lane from US 60 to the end of state maintenance.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN IN CUSTODY ON MURDER CHARGE
An area man is in custody on a murder charge in connection to the death of 79 year old Marion Carter, of Poplar Bluff.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on Thursday, the Police Department received information on the whereabouts of 39 year old Eric Wyatt, of Poplar Bluff, and he was taken into custody at a residence on Spring Street.
Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley says that Wyatt is currently facing a charge of Murder 1st, however the Prosecuting Attorney told Whiteley that there will be some amendment to the charges.
Wyatt is set to be arraigned Friday morning.
POPLAR BLUFF TEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Poplar Bluff teenager has been flown to a Memphis hospital following a single vehicle wreck near Neelyville.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19 year old Kaytlyn McKnight was driving a vehicle on Highway 142, three miles west of Neelyville, when she ran off the road and struck a ditch.
The Highway Patrol did not specify what caused McKnight to run off the roadway.
McKnight suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to Region One Hospital in Memphis.

TWO ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WARRANTS
Two people were recently taken into custody in Stoddard County on controlled substance warrants.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 35 year old Jill Adams, of Dexter, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and endangering the welfare of a child. Her bond was set at $7,500.
24 year old Christopher Anderson, of Dexter, was also arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $5,000.
The Sheriff’s Department did not say if the two arrests were connected.
NO INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING GREENVILLE BUS WRECK
No injuries were reported when a Greenville R-2 bus was involved in a crash earlier this week.
According to authorities, the bus had run off of Highway P, Wednesday morning while transporting students to the SEMO District Fair.
Following the wreck, the students boarded a separate bus and were returned to the school.
ORGANIZING MEETING FOR BUTLER COUNTY FAIR TO BE HELD NEXT WEEK
An organizing meeting for the upcoming Butler County Fair will be held next week.

PERSON OF INTREST SOUGHT IN BUTLER COUNTY HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Poplar Bluff Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of a person of interest in connection to a homicide investigation.
Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley tells KWOC News that the Major Case Squad has been activated after a person was found dead Wednesday afternoon at a residence on Zhem Avenue.
Police are searching for 39 year old Eric Wyatt in connection to the investigation. Wyatt was last seen on foot in the area of Velma and 11th Streets in Poplar Bluff and is being considered armed and dangerous.

No information has been released about the victim in the case.
ONE DEAD IN CONNECTION TO SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI Authorities have confirmed to KWOC News that a Steele man has died following a single vehicle wreck Wednesday morning.
55 year old Billy Lucas was driving on Highway E in Pemiscot County when he failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed Highway 61, and then struck a ditch and a tree.
Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall at 7:25 am.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED ON SEARCH OF MAN IN CONNECTION TO STOLEN ITEMS Continuing to follow a story we brought you yesterday, Butler County authorities are still searching for a suspect after stolen items were discovered Tuesday inside a Butler County residence.
We spoke with investigator Randle Huddleston with the Butler County Sheriff's Department about the suspects and the stolen items that were found inside the residence.
RANDLE HUDDLESTON:
On Tuesday at around 2 p.m. Butler County deputies were in the area of County Road 605, searching for a subject by the name of Michael Horn who had absconded through probation and parole and had a warrant for his arrest, While on County Road 605 contact was made with a citizen who provided information that if we were looking for Michael Horn we would probably be able to locate him at the address of 861 County Road 605. Officers responded to that address, attempted to make contact with Michael Horn to no avail however, while on the premises officers observed a blue ATV that appeared as if it had been spray-painted blue the original color being green. Officers also noticed that the ignition had been punched out. All of which is indicative of a stolen ATV. The VIN was located and ran through dispatch. Dispatch advised that the 4-wheeler was being reported stolen out of Piggott, Arkansas. At that time officers applied for a search warrant. The search warrant was granted and upon serving a search warrant for the residence and the property, a RV camper trailer was located behind the residence. The VIN on it was ran and it was found to be stolen out of Minnesota. There were also inside the residence multiple sets of tools, high-end expensive construction tools, that are believed to be stolen out of adjoining counties as well as possibly Butler County. At this time, the investigation is ongoing into the items that was seized to locate and identify the owners to get their property returned back to them. If you believe that you have property that has possibly been stolen that had been recovered during the course of the search warrant you're invited to come forward and attempt to identify any property that we have recovered. One thing that would speed the process up though is that if you have not filed a report with our agency yet and you live in Butler County and have had stuff stolen recently and you believe we may have recovered it you will have to fill out a report first in order to be able to identify that property. At this point in time we are still actively searching for Michael Horn he was not located at the residence. CHARGES RELEASED IN SCOTT COUNTY HIT AND RUN ARREST Authorities in Scott County have released the charges a Cape Girardeau man is facing in connection to a fatal hit and run incident earlier this week.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says that 33 year old Kevin Jones, of Cape Girardeau, has been taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Officials have also found the truck that is believed to have been involved in the incident that resulted in the death of 49 year old Jackie Crumley, of Benton.
Crumley was walking on County Road 401 Monday evening when he was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Sheriff Walter says that he expects additional charges to be filed against Jones.
BENEFIT TO BE HELD FRIDAY IN HONOR OF MAN WITH CANCER A benefit has been scheduled for Friday evening in honor of a man with cancer.

ONE IN CUSTODY, ANOTHER BEING SOUGHT, IN CONNECTION TO THE DISCOVERRY OF STOLEN ITEMS IN BUTLER COUNTY HOME
One man has been taken into custody, while authorities search for another, after stolen items were discovered Tuesday in a Butler County residence.
Deputies were attempting to arrest Michael Horn, who was wanted on a probation violation, when they found the items. Another man, Martin Myers, was taken into custody on a charge of receiving stolen property.
Horn was not found, but is still being sought.
LILBOURN MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE ALONG WITH BURGLARY AND ASSAULT WARRANT
A Lilbourn man is facing multiple charges in connection to his arrest Tuesday night in New Madrid County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old James Anderson was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Anderson also reportedly had a warrant out of New Madrid County for 1st degree burglary and 2nd degree assault.
FUNDING TO ALLOW FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO POPLAR BLUFF ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
The Poplar Bluff School District has been approved funding that will allow it to expand its Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program to all elementary schools.
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved $183,000 in funding for Poplar Bluff R-I to expand the program, which has allowed for fruits and vegetables to be made available to Eugene Field and Lake Road Elementary students over the past few years.
This year fresh produce will also be served a couple times per week during class breaks at the Kindergarten Center, Oak Grove, O’Neal and the Middle School.
Food Services Director Dixie Harden says that her team plans to introduce produce that many students may not have had the opportunity to taste such as star fruit, jicama and sugar snap peas.
The funding will also equip a salad bar at each of the school facilities.
RELOCATION OF POPLAR BLUFF MUNICIPAL COURT HAS BEEN DELAYED
The relocation of the Poplar Bluff Municipal Court has been delayed.
According to the Poplar Bluff City Hall Facebook page, there are some network issues that need to be worked out for the Municipal Court, so they will not be moving on Friday.
The move to a building at 501 Vine Street could be delayed by a week to 10 days.
OVER THREE HOUR STANDOFF ENDS IN ARREST IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
A multi hour standoff in Northeast Arkansas has come to an end.
Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells KWOC News that Scott Callahan barricading himself in his home when deputies arrived to arrest him Tuesday on a felony warrant.
The standoff continued for over three hours before the Greene County Sheriff's Department Swat Team entered the home and took Callahan into custody.

DEXTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS AWARDED $10,000 GRANT
The Dexter R-11 school district was awarded a grant last week from the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Program.
The $10,000 grant was for the school’s project, “Maximizing Efficiencies in STEM Teaching and Learning.”
The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program gives farmers the opportunity to nominate a rural public school district in their community to compete for a merit-based grant of either $10,000 or $25,000 to enhance education in the areas of math and/or science.
MONTH AND A HALF LONG SIDEWALK PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
A month and a half long sidewalk project is scheduled to begin today in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Route B Spur in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane between Route 25 and Route B so contractor crews can work on sidewalk improvements.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Monday, October 31st from 7 am to 7 pm daily.

EAST PRAIRIE SCHOOLS PUT ON LOCKDOWN DURING SEARCH FOR WANTED MAN
Schools in East Prairie were put on lockdown Monday while authorities were searching for a wanted man.
According to the East Prairie Police Department, early Monday morning officers received an anonymous tip that a known wanted fugitive, Clyde David Franklin of East Prairie, was at a residence in the city.
While authorities were waiting for assistance, Franklin reportedly fled the residence in a white pickup and later began running on foot.
Since the suspect’s exact whereabouts were unknown at the time, the schools were notified of the search and the decision was made to lock down the schools to prevent any entry and protect the safety of students and staff.
Shortly before 11 am, the police department received a call from a citizen who stated someone was in her utility room and she could hear a male talking inside. Officers arrived at the scene and determined that Franklin was the person inside the utility room.
Franklin surrendered and was taken into custody. He has two active warrants with a total bond of $300.000 cash only. Officials say new charges are pending and being forwarded to the Mississippi County Prosecutors Office.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S HELP IN IDENTIFIYING STEALING SUSPECT
Authorities in Poplar Bluff are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman in connection to a stealing complaint.
According to officials with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on Sunday at around 10 pm, officers were advised by employees at Wal-Mart that a female subject had pretended to scan several items in a self checkout lane, and then left the store without paying for the merchandise.
A picture of the woman has been made available on the Poplar Bluff Police Department’s facebook page.

SPECIAL CEREMONY TO BE HELD THIS WEEK FOR POW/MIA
A special ceremony has been scheduled this week for POW/MIA day.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day is a day of commemoration for service members unaccounted for and/or missing in America’s wars.
The ceremony will be held at 11 am on Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
TWO ARRESTED IN CARTER COUNTY ON METH CHARGES
Two people were taken into custody Monday afternoon in Carter County on meth charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Joel Chambliss, of Ellsinore, and 28 year old Samantha Freeze, of Van Buren, were each arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Following their arrest, both Chambliss and Freeze were taken to the Carter County Jail on 24 hour holds.
PEDESTRAIAN KILLED IN HIT AND RUN INCIDENT NEAR BENTON
A pedestrian was killed Monday afternoon in a hit and run incident in Scott County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC news that 49 year old Jackie Crumley, of Benton, was walking on County Road 401 when he was hit by a vehicle at around 5:30 pm. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Crumley was pronounced dead at the location of the incident. No information was available on the type of vehicle that struck Crumley or who the drive might be.
WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S EVENT TO BE HELD IN POPLAR BLUFF
The Alzheimer’s Association will be holding an event in Poplar Bluff next month to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
The 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held at McLane Park on Saturday, October 15th. Registration will begin at 8 am, followed by a ceremony at 9 am, and the walk at 9:30.

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING ATV WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A Gideon man has died in connection to an ATV wreck Friday night in Ripley County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 42 year old Kevin McClendon was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, around 14 miles west of Doniphan on Route Z.
McClendon’s ATV had overturned and ejected him at around 9:35 pm Friday. McClendon was reportedly not wearing a safety device at the time of the wreck.
PIEDMONT MAN ARRETED ON METH CHARGE
A Piedmont man is facing multiple felony charges in connection to his arrest early Saturday morning in Wayne County.
According to authorities, 46 year old Dale Pressdee was taken into custody on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful use of a firearm.
Following the arrest, Pressdee was transported to the Wayne County Jail on a 24 hour hold.
PINK GLOVE DANCE VOTING TO BEGIN TODAY AT NOON
Voting is set to begin today for the 2016 Ping Glove Dance Competition.
The Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition is a breast cancer prevention campaign to honor those who have been affected by the disease and raise money for a cure.
Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is participating in the competition with the goal of winning a $15,000 donation for the United Cancer Assistance Network.

AUTHORITES INVESTIGATING DEATH OF A MAN IN MALDEN
Updating a story we brought to you on Friday, an investigation is ongoing in connection to the death of a man last week in Malden.
According to authorities, 39 year old Walter Lee was found lying in the yard of a residence on North Kimball Street following a report of a possible gunshot victim Thursday night.
He was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was set to be conducted on Friday.

Authorities say an area man was taken into custody over the weekend on multiple drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 38 year old Robert Burgin, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested Saturday night in Butler County on charges of possession of a controlled substance for clonazepam and marijuana, driving while intoxicated - drugs, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Burgin was taken to the Butler County jail on a 24 hour hold following his arrest.

Pavement repairs are scheduled to begin today on Route N in Butler County.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY INTO FIRE AT POPLAR BLUFF BUSINESS
Authorities in Poplar Bluff are investigating a fire at an area business Thursday night.
Deputy Chief Don Trout with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC news that a fire broke out at around 10 pm Thursday night Letassy Pharmacy in Poplar Bluff.
Few details are available about the incident but Trout did confirm that there were no injuries. We will keep following this story and bring you updates when they become available.

The 9th Annual Three Rivers Shriner's Championship Rodeo will begin tonight at the Ray Clinton Park arena in Poplar Bluff.
There will be multiple events at the two day rodeo including bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, bull riding, and barrel racing.
The rodeo will begin at 7 pm both tonight and Saturday.
METHAMPHETAMINE, COCAINE, AND FIREARMS FOUND DURING SEARCH IN KENNETT
Police officials in Kennett tell KWOC News that multiple drugs along with firearms were found during a search Thursday morning.
According to the Kennett Police Department, officers seized an undisclosed yet large amount of synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription medications, drug paraphernalia, and firearms during the execution of a search warrant on Thursday.
Six people were taken into custody on various charges in connection to the bust. The six arrested were 45 year old Otis Yancey, 36 year old Jackie Anthony, 33 year old Pamela Simms, 23 year old Byron Norris, and 22 year old Shanika Arnett, all of Kennett, along with 36 year old Cornelius Middleton, of Hayti.
REAGAN DAYS EVENT TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND IN BUTLER COUNTY
Statewide Republican candidates will be in Southeast Missouri this weekend for the Butler County Reagan Days event.
The event will begin at 5:30 pm Saturday at the American Legion on Kanell Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.
Verified Guest Speakers for the event include US Senator Roy Blunt, Congressman Jason Smith, Candidate for Governor Eric Greitens, and Missouri House of Representatives Speaker Todd Richardson, among many others.

BRIDGE PROJECT IN CARTER COUNTY EXTENDED THROUGH MID DECEMBER
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell KWOC news that a bridge project in Carter County has been extended through mid-December.
Route M in Carter County will be reduced to one lane with a 11-foot width restriction so contractor crews can continue construction on the bridge over Pike Creek
The bridge is located on Route M just north of County Road 100. Shoulder work will also continue from County Road 100 to one half mile north of County Road 101.
Work will be done until Friday, December 16th and the work zone will be set-up for 24-hours a day. Work will be completed under one-lane traffic across the bridge using temporary signals.

POPLAR BLUFF PARENTS ENCOURAGED TO MAKE SURE THEIR CHILDREN KNOW ABOUT CURFEW LAWS
The school year is underway in Poplar Bluff, and parents are being encouraged to make sure their children are aware of the city’s curfew laws.
We spoke with Deputy Chief Don Trout with the Poplar Bluff Police Department about the curfew laws along with the traffic situation affecting Poplar Bluff schools.
DON TROUT:
The curfew violations for juveniles or curfew ordinances is during normal school hours and that is defined Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The provisions that allow for a juvenile to be out is when accompanied by a parent or when engaging in duties of employment or when upon an emergency errand. If we come in contact with or see a juvenile out during school hours we will make contact with them and if they don't meet any the criteria for a acceptable reasons for being out we will contact their parents and refer them to the juvenile office. The progression for the traffic for schools is getting better. The high school still has a considerable amount of delays in the mornings, but it is getting better and we can see that. It's just the sheer volume of traffic. The same with the Middle School. It’s much better than it was last week but there's still a lot of parents dropping their children off and picking them up. And 67 along Highland Drive is still a congested spot in the mornings and afternoons. The three way stops have been very beneficial for the children crossing. Also the speed, it seems like the Public's really accepted the sign, following it very well. We will continue to monitor traffic on Harper Street and continue to monitor the sign. One thing to keep in mind about the middle school is there has been another grade added. It’s fourth, fifth, and sixth grade now so I mean that's where a lot of the extra congestion is coming from.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED ABOUT ROBBERY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, three male suspects are being sought in connection to an alleged robbery at a convenience store in Dunklin County.
According to authorities, one of the suspects pointed a gun at a clerk at Lucky Mart convenience store during the robbery. The suspects took almost $480 in cash and over $50 worth of cigarettes.
The robbery occurred at around 9 pm Tuesday night.
VAN BUREN STORE FACING ALMOST $100,000 IN PENALTIES FROM OSHA
A store in Van Buren is facing penalties of almost $100,000 following citations from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
On August 4th, inspectors reportedly found blocked exits and other hazards at the Dollar General store in Van Buren. The store now faces one repeated, one serious citation, and one other-than-serious safety citation and proposed total penalties of $97,988.
According to OSHA, more than 100 safety and health violations have been found since 2010 at Dollar General stores nationwide.
The company has 15 business days to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s area director, or contest the citations and proposed penalties before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
DEXTER MAN IN CUSTODY ON BURGLARY AND DOMESTIC ASSAULT WARRANT
A Dexter man is in custody this morning following his arrest on a burglary warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 35 year old Diego Pastor Moreno was recently taken into custody on a warrant for burglary and domestic assault.
Officials with the Sheriff’s Department say that Moreno remained in jail as of this morning and no bond has been set.
POPLAR BLUFF CITY HALL TO TEMPORARLY MOVE TO LOCATION ON VINE STREET
A date has been set for the temporary relocation of the Poplar Bluff city hall offices.
It was announced earlier this week that the offices will be moved to a location on Vine Street on September 16th.
The offices will open on September 19th.
BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing a Butler County road today for a pipe replacement.
According to MoDOT, Route HH will be closed today from 7 am to 3:30 pm for the project.
The work zone will be located between County Road 342 and County Road 214.
