THREE RIVERS COLLEGE BOARD HEARS PROPOSAL CONCERNING RODEO PROGRAM
A local organization made a presentation to the Three Rivers College Board of Trustees Wednesday concerning the TRC Rodeo program.
In July, it was announced that the college had discontinued rodeo as an official college-designated athletic program.
On Wednesday, Tara Looney with Friends of TRC Rodeo made a proposal to college officials during the TRC Board Meeting about a possible path forward for the program, which would include strong community support along with the use of college scholarships and program revenue in an attempt to create a self-supporting program.
Friends of TRC Rodeo is proposing to contribute $40,000 to the rodeo program by January 1, 2027 and $25,000 on January 1 each year after.
Dr. Wes Payne tells KWOC News that the board and college leadership are pleased to accept proposals from the community and they will all be thoroughly studied and considered.
NEAR-TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE TO BE VISIBLE TONIGHT
People across North and South America will be able to view a near-total lunar eclipse tonight.
Earth will pass between the moon and the sun tonight, casting a reddish-orange shadow onto our closest neighbor.
Because this is a partial eclipse, the lineup won’t be perfect and it won’t be a true blood moon. The partial phase of the eclipse will last more than three hours, peaking just after 11 pm.
But the entire eclipse, from the time the full moon enters the faintest, outermost edge of Earth’s shadow until it leaves, will stretch 5 and a half hours.
