SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER TODAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

Southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas are under a threat of severe weather today.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a complex of thunderstorms may move into the southern portion of southeast Missouri this evening, bringing a slight chance of severe weather to the area.

The primary hazards would be damaging winds and large hail.

Some thunderstorms are also possible this morning, however these storms are not expected to be severe.

SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS TODAY FOR STUDENTS IN DEXTER, VAN BUREN, AND PUXICO

Continuing our coverage of school opening week in Southeast Missouri, at least nine more schools will be opening their doors today to welcome back students.

Students will be returning to school today in the Dexter, Van Buren, Bloomfield, and Puxico School districts among many others.

25 MILE COMMUNITY YARD SALE TO BEGIN ON SEPTEMBER 7TH

Anyone looking for deals next month during Labor Day weekend is encouraged to go to Wappapello Lake.

The 25 mile Community Yard Sale will be going on from September 5th through the 7th along T Highway in Butler County and Route D in Wayne County from the north end of the Dam to AA Highway.

According to the US Army Corps of Engineers, vendors will be set up in the large grassy area at the Spillway Recreation area during the event.

Officials say that anyone who wants to set up at the Spillway Recreation Area needs to contact the Wappapello Lake Management Office at 573-222-7500 to receive a free application form.

FREE CLEATS AVAILABLE AT POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION OFFICE

A Poplar Bluff organization is offering free cleats to children who will be playing sports this fall.

Free soccer, baseball, and softball cleats are available for local players who need them at the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation office through Friday, August 28th.

After the 28th, the soccer cleats will be moved to Whiteley Park for easier access during soccer activities.

The cleats are available thanks to donations from the community and are available on a first come, first served basis.

MODOT CREWS TO BE REDUCING ROUTE FF IN STODDARD COUNTY THIS WEEK

Route FF in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane for the rest of this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform roadside work.

The work zone is located from Route E to County Road 554 near Essex.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

ASPHALT OVERLAY TO CAUSE DELAYS ON ROUTE CC IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Construction crews will be performing an asphalt overlay on Route CC in Pemiscot County over the next month.

Officials say that Route CC will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction from Route A to County Road 208 near Wardell.

Flaggers will be present, and traffic will be guided through the work zone by a pilot car.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Monday, September 28th.
