BLUE ALERT ISSUED FOR MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY SHOT AT CARUTHERSVILLE POLICE OFFICERS

A Blue Alert was issued Sunday morning for a man who is accused of firing at police officers.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, authorities are searching for 42 year old Zachary Walker. The subject allegedly fired at two Caruthersville police officers who were contacting a large number of people that were gathered in the area of East 12th Street and Walker Avenue in Caruthersville.

Investigators believe Walker may have been wounded when officers returned fire. Walker’s vehicle was found crashed approximately two blocks away.

Walker is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with gray or partially gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a navy t-shirt with a graphic design on the front, dark-colored shorts, and black lace-up boots. Authorities also say Walker is covered in tattoos.

Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News this is an ongoing investigation and Walker should be considered armed and dangerous. He may be armed with a semi-automatic rifle.

Anyone with information on Walker’s whereabouts should call 911 immediately.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING DEATH OF AREA WOMAN

Authorities in Poplar Bluff are investigating a fatal shooting from Saturday night.

Poplar Bluff Police Chief JR Keirsey tells KWOC News officers responded to the area of Victor and Thomas Streets at approximately 10:23 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a white female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 45 year old Brittany Luna, of Poplar Bluff, later died from her injuries.

A person of interest was identified during the investigation. That person later contacted officers and was transported to the Poplar Bluff Police Department for questioning.

Police are also asking residents in the area who have video surveillance equipment, or anyone with information related to this investigation, to contact the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573-785-5776.

Keirsey says that the Butler County Coroner’s Office is also assisting with the investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to help collect forensic evidence.

MULTIPLE PEOPLE SHOT AT BUSINESS IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

Multiple people were shot at a business Saturday in Northeast Arkansas.

According to Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole, shortly after 4 pm, authorities received a 911 call of people shot at Baker Sawmill Company in Corning.

At the scene, officers found two people with gunshot wounds and began administering first aid.

Officers were informed that the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Deputies and Corning officers apprehended the subject approximately 30 minutes later at a nearby residence. After the subject was in custody, officers learned he had also been shot.

The three subjects were all transported to regional hospitals.

Cole says that the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the investigation.

TWO INJURED IN CRASH NEAR WAPPAPELLO

Two Williamsville residents were injured in a crash over the weekend near Wappapello.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 42 year old man was driving a vehicle on Route T shortly after midnight Sunday morning when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

The driver, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger, a 35 year old woman, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED BEGINNING TODAY

A Butler County road will be closed this summer for bridge replacements.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route AA in Butler County will be closed beginning today so contractor crews can replace the bridges over Drainage Ditches 1 and 10. 

The work zone will be located between County Roads 621 and 629 in Broseley.

Work was scheduled to begin this morning with completion anticipated by Wednesday, September 30, weather permitting. Officials say that Route AA will remain closed until the work is complete.

TRC COMMUNITY CHOIR PERFORMS TONIGHT

The Three Rivers College Community Choir will be putting on a performance tonight.

The Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts is presenting the TRC Community Choir at 7 p.m. at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.

The choir features local singers who will be performing a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to theatrical to popular to sacred.
