AUTOPSY FINDS NO INJURIES OR TRAUMA ON MAN WHO WAS FOUND IN BLACK RIVER
Updating a story we have been following for you, an autopsy was performed on Tuesday for a man who was found dead over the weekend in the Black River.
Coroner Jim Akers tells KWOC News that the body of 47 year old Antonio Atkins was discovered near Ray Clinton Park at around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.
Akers says that an autopsy showed no signs of injuries or trauma, however a cause of death was not determined.
He added that this leaves a few natural as well as accidental possibilities.
Atkins had reportedly been living without a home after losing his mother last year.

BOAT CRASH ON CURRENT RIVER INJURES GIDEON CHILD
A child from Gideon suffered minor injuries in a Labor Day weekend boat crash in Carter County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two vessels collided head on in shallow water on the Current River, north of Van Buren.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon, shortly after 1 pm.
A 12 year old child in one of the vessels received minor injuries and according to a report, the family sought their own medical treatment.
TOWNSHIP LINE ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
Construction crews will be closing Township Line Road in Butler County today for a road project.
The road will be closed south of Red Oak Lane, near the roundabout with PP Highway.
According to officials with Duckett Construction, work is scheduled for 7 am to 6 pm, and crews will be able to provide service to local traffic only during that time period.
MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON CHILD MOLESTATION AND STATUTORY SODOMY CHARGES
A man was taken into custody last week on multiple charges including child molestation.
Officials announced on Tuesday that 63 year old Phillip Skaggs was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
Skaggs is facing multiple charges, including child molestation and statutory sodomy.
He remains in custody at the Wayne County Jail on no bond.
MICHIGAN MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN EARLY MORNING CRASH
A Michigan man was seriously injured early Tuesday morning in a Southeast Missouri crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 57 year old man was driving on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County at around 2:30 am when his vehicle travelled off the left side of the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and overturned.
The man suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a Hayti hospital.
PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO FORCE CLOSURE OF NEW MADRID COUNTY ROAD THIS WEEK
Route J in New Madrid County will be closed over two days this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
The section of roadway to be closed is located from Route 153 to Route 62 near Malden.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
