OZARK BORDER ANNUAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TODAY

The annual membership meeting of the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative will be conducted today.

The meeting will be held at 2:30 pm at the Ozark Border Headquarters on South Westwood Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.

Members will be voting for the Board of Directors, with three seats being contested. The first will see incumbent Judy Lunsford taking on Gary Melton and Tod Spradley for the District 2 seat. Incumbent Bill Hager will be facing Derek Boyers for the District 3 seat.

The other race is in District 4, where incumbent Greg Lintz is being challenged by Chad Payne. Each race is for a three year term.

Voting has been conducted in various Ozark Border locations across Southeast Missouri this week in the leadup to the meeting.

Voting will be available at the Poplar Bluff Ozark Border Electric Headquarters today through 2 pm.

MAN ARRESTED IN PARAGOULD FOR ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT

An Arkansas man is in custody for an alleged sexual assault.

According to the Paragould Police Department, 21 year old Danuwell Robinson, of Marion, Arkansas was booked earlier this week on a charge of sexual assault in the forth degree.

Robinson is accused of having inappropriate contact with a juvenile.

He is being held in the Greene County jail on no bond.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE TO HOST FRESHMAN TOUR DAY TODAY

Incoming students to Three Rivers College will have the opportunity to explore the campus at an event today.

Students are being invited to drop by the Welcome Center at the TRC Poplar Bluff location between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a campus tour and to pick up their books.

POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL OFFICIALS RELEASE BACK TO SCHOOL CHECKLIST FOR AREA PARENTS

School will be starting in less than two weeks and Poplar Bluff parents are being reminded that it is time to make sure your family is ready.

To help parents get prepared for when the school year starts, Poplar Bluff School officials have released a new “Back to School Checklist.”

Officials say the checklist provides a step-by-step guide to help parents navigate all the essential tasks for a successful start to the new school year.

The checklist includes registration details, health preparations, communication tools, and suggestions for daily routines.

POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION TO HOST CRUISE IN DOWNTOWN TONIGHT

Tonight will be the perfect night to check out some cool cars in Butler County.

Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation will be hosting the Vine Street Cruise-In Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 pm between 5th Street and Broadway.

Officials say that there is no registration required and drivers are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to start time.
