IDENTITY RELEASED OF VICTIM IN FATAL RIPLEY COUNTY INCIDENT

Authorities have released the name of a woman killed in an incident early Monday morning in Ripley County.

Ripley County Coroner Mike Jackson tells KWOC News that 57 year old Tammy Summers, of Naylor, was found dead on Route H, near County Road H-7.

According to Missouri Case Net, 57 year old James Dempsey, of Naylor, has been charged with felony 1st degree involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident - accident resulting in a death, and operating a vehicle on a highway without valid license.

According to the probable cause affidavit, during an interview, Dempsey told an investigator that he was driving side by side with Summers and talking to her through the passenger window when the incident occurred.

Dempsey then stated that after he ran the victim over, he stopped to check on her before panicking and driving home. There he told a witness that he had hit the victim and they needed to go get her.

Dempsey is being held on a $250,000 bond.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

A Poplar Bluff woman was badly injured in a single vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.

According to authorities, a 69 year old woman was driving on US Highway 60 in Butler County when her vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch shortly after noon.

The woman received serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a Memphis hospital.

TEENAGER FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH NEAR DONIPHAN

A teenager was flown from the scene of a single vehicle crash Tuesday evening near Doniphan.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 7:45 pm on Missouri Highway 142 when a vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a sign, and overturned.

A 19 year old male passenger in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Jonesboro hospital.

No injuries were listed for the driver.

DEADLINE COMING UP TO PURCHASE TAGS FOR BULKY ITEM PICKUP

Friday is the final day for Poplar Bluff residents to purchase tags for this month’s Bulky Item Pickup.

Residents can purchase bulk item tags from the City Collector’s office at City Hall for $20. The tags entitle you to the removal of four bulk items, such as couches or refrigerators.

No construction materials or small items will be picked up and the program is for residential areas only.

Friday is the final day to purchase item tags at City Hall to be included in next week’s pick up, which will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12th.

ONE INJURED AFTER VEHICLE HITS HOUSE NEAR KENNETT

One person was injured after a vehicle struck a house Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a 59 year old Kennett man was driving a UTV near Dunklin County Road 414, when the vehicle struck the house.

The man suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a Jonesboro hospital.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY NEAR DEXTER

Route AD in Stoddard County will be reduced today in the Dexter area as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.

This section of roadway is located from Route 60 to County Road 480.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through 4:00 p.m.
