FORMER MISSOURI GOVERNOR AND UNITED STATES SENATOR CHRISTOPHER “KIT” BOND PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 86
A former Missouri Governor and United States Senator has passed away.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has announced that Christopher “Kit” Bond died Tuesday in St. Louis at the age of 86.
Bond served as Missouri Governor for two terms, from 1973 to 1977 and then from 1981 to 1985.
Following his term as Governor, Bond was elected to the United States Senate where he served from 1987 to 2011.
DIVING CREWS FIND GUN POSSIBLY CONNECTED TO 2024 SHOOTING IN RIPLEY COUNTY
Diving crews were mobilized in Ripley County on Tuesday in connection to a 2024 shooting investigation.
Ripley County Sheriff Rad Talburt confirmed to KWOC News that a gun was recovered by the dive crews in the Gatweood area.
Ripley County Chief Deputy David Sutton says that the weapon is believed to have been connected to a drive-by shooting from early December in Ripley County.
The gun will be sent to the Division of Drug and Crime Control Crime Lab for testing.
CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF EARNS MISSOURI BLUE SHIELD DESIGNATION
Poplar Bluff is the latest Southeast Missouri community to earn the Missouri Blue Shield designation.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety has announced that Poplar Bluff and the Poplar Bluff Police Department was selected for the designation, recognizing the community for its commitment to enhancing public safety and supporting law enforcement.
Achieving the Blue Shield designation allows communities to access state grants for law enforcement training and equipment.
ONE FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH ON US HIGHWAY 60 NEAR DUDLEY
A juvenile from North Carolina was flown from the scene of a crash Monday evening near Dudley.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 5 pm when a vehicle crossed the center line of US Highway 60 and struck another vehicle.
The first vehicle then travelled off the right side of the roadway, became airborne, overturned, and struck an embankment.
A juvenile and adult passenger in the vehicle each suffered serious injuries and the juvenile was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital. The adult passenger, along with the driver, were taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
No injuries were listed for the occupants of the second vehicle.
STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT
Route ZZ in Stoddard County will be closed over two days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of roadway is located from County Road 626 to County Road 642 near Dexter.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN THE PARMA AREA
Route D in New Madrid County will be reduced today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform bridge maintenance.
The section of roadway being reduced is located between County Roads 556 and 540 near Parma.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
