JUVENILE TRANSPORTED TO AREA HOSPITAL AFTER ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTING HIMSELF IN THE FOOT

A juvenile was injured in an accidental shooting over the weekend.

According to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday deputies responded to an area residence for a report of an accidental shooting.

A juvenile male had reportedly shot himself in the foot while handling a pistol which he thought was inoperable.

The victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

DONIPHAN MAN ARRESTED ON TWO COUNTS OF STATUTORY RAPE

A Doniphan man has been taken into custody in Ripley County on multiple counts of statutory rape.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 58 year old Thomas Dodd was arrested Monday afternoon on charges of 1st degree statutory rape and 2nd degree statutory rape.

Following the arrest, Dodd was held in the Ripley County Detention Center.

OVER 46,000 BIRDS HARVESTED DURING SPRING TURKEY SEASON

Missouri hunters harvested over 46,000 birds during turkey season.

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows turkey hunters checked 46,562 birds during Missouri’s 2025 regular spring turkey season, which ran from April 21st through May 11th.

Young turkey hunters also harvested 4,449 turkeys over the youth weekend at the beginning of April, bringing the overall 2025 spring turkey harvest to 51,011.

Officials say that last year, young turkey hunters harvested 3,739 turkeys over the spring youth season and hunters harvested 43,380 during the regular spring season for a 2024 spring season total harvest of 47,119.

TWO INJURED IN THREE VEHICLE CRASH IN CARTER COUNTY

A weekend crash in Carter County resulted in injuries to two people.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on County Road 251, ten miles north of Grandin, when a vehicle side swiped another vehicle, causing the second vehicle to overturn.

The second vehicle was then struck by a third vehicle.

The drivers of the second and third vehicles suffered serious injuries in the crash and were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

WOMAN SUFFERS SERIOUS INJURIES IN BLOOMFIELD AREA CRASH

A woman was transported to an area hospital on Saturday after being involved in a crash near Bloomfield.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the 71 year old woman, from Advance, was driving on Missouri Highway 25 when her vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a parked vehicle, and overturned.

The woman suffered serious injuries in the crash.

CREWS TO BE INSTALLING LIGHTS BEGINNING TODAY ON OAK GROVE ROAD IN POPLAR BLUFF

The Northbound and Southbound Route 67 ramps in Butler County may be impacted beginning today as contractor crews install lights at the intersection of the ramps and Oak Grove Road in Poplar Bluff.

Officials say that work will take place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, May 30, weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling near the area.
