UNITED GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION TO HOST ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER

The United Gospel Rescue Mission is providing their annual Thanksgiving Meal this Thursday.

The meal will be held at around noon on Thanksgiving at the Rescue Mission in Poplar Bluff. If you can’t make it to the rescue mission you can also call ahead and have a meal delivered to you.

The Rescue Mission is in need of volunteers to help prepare meals this week leading up to the event. On Thanksgiving, the rescue mission will also need assistance to prepare, serve, and deliver the meals. They are also accepting donations of desserts to be used in the meals.

Pastor Kirk is expecting to feed many more people this year compared to the over 2,000 meals served last year.

DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR ENTRIES TO THE RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE

Parade lights will be shining bright in Downtown Poplar Bluff this December for the 2025 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.

Entries are being accepted for the parade, which is scheduled for 6 pm on Friday, December 5th. Entry forms are available at River Radio in Poplar Bluff. The deadline for entries is November 26th.

The parade route this year will run from Highway 142 at McDonalds through downtown Poplar Bluff before looping back and ending at the Black River Coliseum.

Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. For more information, call 573-785-0881.

ART FROM TRC STUDENTS TO BE EXHIBITED BEGINNING NEXT WEEK

Area residents will get a chance to view art from local students beginning next week in Poplar Bluff.

According to Three Rivers College officials, you will be able to explore a collection of creative works by TRC students at the Fall Student Art Exhibit.

Art will be shown from December 1st through the 12th at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.

Normal gallery hours are noon to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Admission is free.

TOY DRIVE AND CAR SHOW SET FOR NOVEMBER 29TH

A Toys for Tots toy drive and car show is scheduled for this weekend in Poplar Bluff.

American Legion Brown Mabry Post 153, Eric Summers Marine Corps League, Downtown PB Cruise In, and Bluff Cars and Coffee are partnering up for the event from 9 am to 3pm on Saturday, November 29th at the American Legion in Poplar Bluff.

Attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy as the entry fee for the car show.

MENARDS HOSTING TOY DRIVE TO BENEFIT LOCAL CHILDREN

A Poplar Bluff area business is accepting toy donations to be given to local children.

The Poplar Bluff Menards is serving as a drop off location for toy donations through December 15th.

You can drop off new, unwrapped toys in the donation box by the Menards exit door. The toys will then be donated to a local organization.

ANNUAL ELKS HOOP SHOOT SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER

The date is coming up for the 2025 Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest in Poplar Bluff.

Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday, December 13th at Poplar Bluff Middle School.

There is no charge to participate in the Hoop Shoot, which will be from 9 am to 11 am.
