TODAY’S TALK KWOC TO BROADCAST THE CURRENT RIVER CHALLENGE 

Once you're done with Thanksgiving, switch your TV over to the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook page to catch all the action from the 20th Anniversary of the Current River Challenge. 

The two day basketball event from Van Buren High School will feature 20 area schools, including Van Buren, Twin Rivers, Greenville, East Carter, Doniphan, South Pemiscot, and Neelyville, and will start at 11 am on November 28th and at 10 am on November 29th. 

A total of 13 games will be broadcast over both days on the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook Page and the River Radio YouTube page.


VETERAN WREATH PLACEMENT CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH 

Wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans next month. 

On December 13th the Poplar Bluff Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in cooperation with Wreaths across America, will hold a ceremony at the Poplar Bluff Memorial Gardens Cemetery to honor veterans buried there. 

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 am.

Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony, which will be followed by placing wreaths on veteran’s graves.

TOY DRIVE UNDERWAY TO HELP KIDS IN FOSTER CARE 

A Poplar Bluff organization is collecting toys to help local children in foster care. 

FosterAdopt Connect is accepting toy donations through Wednesday, December 10th. 

Toys can be dropped off at 2198 North Westwood Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.

2025 SANTA LAND TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 2ND 

Preparations are underway for the annual Santa Land in Poplar Bluff. 

According to Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation, the event will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Black River Coliseum. 

During the event, children will get to visit with Santa and participate in many fun holiday activities. 

Booth space is available for churches, civic organizations, and members of the public who want to provide activities for children and should focus on giving back to the community.

DATES SET FOR SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE 

The dates have been set for the annual Christmas themed play at a Poplar Bluff church. 

The Palace of Praise is presenting the 15th Annual Sounds of Christmas nightly from December 15th through the 17th beginning at 7 pm each night.  

Admission to the show is free, but you can also purchase tickets for a dinner theater experience on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. 

Tickets for the dinners are $20 per person and can be purchased online at SoundsOfChristmas.org or at the Palace of Praise, which is located at 1400 Herschel Bess Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR 2026 THREE RIVERS COLLEGE ALUMNI REUNION 

The date has been announced for the 2026 Three Rivers College Alumni Reunion. 

A full day of festivities is planned for the Raider Reunion on Saturday, February 21st on the campus of Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.

This year’s event included a pancake breakfast, Alumni Star reception, Raider of the Year recognition, and Lady Raiders and Raiders basketball games.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH AT POPLAR BLUFF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be featured guests during Breakfast with Santa next month in Poplar Bluff. 

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting Breakfast with Santa from 8 am to 11 am on Sunday, December 7th at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Grand Avenue. 

Breakfast will be served by donation. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras for free pictures with the Clauses.
