TWO JUVENILES FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF ATV CRASH IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Two Portageville juveniles were flown from the scene of an ATV crash over the weekend in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4 pm Sunday on Pemiscot County Road 417 when an ATV travelled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree before overturning.

The driver and a passenger, identified as a 13 year old girl and a 12 year old girl, were flown to Memphis hospitals with serious injuries.

FILING TO BEGIN IN DECEMBER FOR POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Filing will begin early next month for the upcoming Poplar Bluff City Council elections.

The city will be holding elections on April 7th for three seats on the City Council, one representative from Ward Five and two at-large seats. The elections will be for three year terms.

Candidates can begin filing for the election on Tuesday, December 9th. The final day for candidate filing will be December 30th.

CARTER COUNTY AWARDED OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO REPLACE DAMAGED INFRASTRUCTURE

A Southeast Missouri county has been awarded money to replace damaged infrastructure.

According to the Delta Regional Authority, Carter County was awarded more than $1 million to replace extensive infrastructure damage caused by reoccurring flood and flash-flooding events in 2024.

The funds will be used to improve structural integrity, enhance stormwater management, and increase infrastructure resilience against future flood events, making roadways safer and passable.

The money is being provided through the Supplemental Disaster Recovery Funding program.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR HITTING HUSBAND WITH HER VEHICLE

A woman has been taken into custody for allegedly hitting her husband with a vehicle.

According to court documents, Paragould officers were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 49 North and Country Club Road on Friday in reference to a vehicle vs pedestrian.

The victim told officers that his wife, 35 year old Felisha Woodson, of Paragould, had purposely struck him with her vehicle and fled the scene. Multiple witnesses, along with intersection camera footage, corroborated the victim’s statement.

Woodson was arrested Monday on a felony charge of domestic battering in the second degree.

CAMPAIGN TO BE HELD THIS WEEK TO REMIND MOTORISTS TO BUCKLE UP

With many families hitting the road this week to celebrate Thanksgiving, law enforcement officials are reminding motorists to make sure your seat belt is fastened.

According to the Arkansas State Police, law enforcement across the state will be conducting a high-visibility Click It or Ticket seat belt awareness campaign from today through Sunday.

Officials say that during the Thanksgiving holiday period in 2023, there were 309 passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes across the nation, and 44 percent were unrestrained.

SHOULDER REPAIRS SCHEDULED THIS WEEK IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route AD in Stoddard County will be reduced this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder work.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from Route 60 to County Road 442 near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow.
