POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON RAPE CHARGE
A Poplar Bluff man was arrested last week on a rape charge.
According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, Poplar Bluff Police Officers made contact with a subject on Saturday who said that a man had raped and choked her.
The victim identified where the rape had allegedly occurred and a third party identified the suspect as 43 year old Ulysses Jeffries.
Officers made contact with Jeffries, who admitted to having sex with the victim.
Jeffries was arrested and has been charged with felony rape or attempted rape - 1st degree and assault 2nd degree according to Missouri Case Net.
The Probable Cause Affidavit says that Jeffries is currently on probation for two counts of statutory rape with a five-year suspended prison sentence.
He is being held at the Butler County Justice Center on no bond.
MULES FOOTBALL DISTRICT PLAYOFFS TO BEGIN FRIDAY
The Poplar Bluff Mules will begin their football district playoff campaign this week.
The Mules earned a five seed in the Class 5, District 1 playoffs and will travel to the four seed Fox Warriors for the Quarterfinal matchup at 7 pm on Friday.
Should the Mules win on Friday, they will travel to top seed Farmington next week for the District Semifinal.

DONIPHAN MAN ARRESTED ON RIPLEY COUNTY STATUTORY RAPE AND SODOMY WARRANT
Authorities in Ripley County have arrested an area man on a warrant for multiple charges, including statutory rape and sodomy.
According to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, 47 year old Jason Coleman, of Doniphan, was arrested on Sunday at his residence.
Coleman was wanted for charges of statutory rape, statutory sodomy, and sexual abuse 1st degree.
The charges stem from accusations that Coleman had inappropriate contact with a juvenile in 2023.
He is being held in the Ripley County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER VEHICLE OVERTURNS NEAR DEXTER
A man was injured in a single vehicle crash over the weekend near Dexter.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 23 year old Sikeston man was driving on US Highway 60 when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
The driver, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the crash, which occurred at around 5:25 am Sunday morning.
The driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
PAVEMENT REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK ON HIGHWAY 67
Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced with a 12-foot width restriction this week so contractor crews can perform pavement repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone will be located between County Roads 301 and 302.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday.
WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE REDUCED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT
Route Z in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of roadway being reduced is from County Road 218 to County Road 524.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
