2025 OFC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT BEGINS TODAY

The 2025 OFC Baseball Tournament, featuring eight area schools, begins today.

East Carter captured the top seed for the tournament and will play number 8 seed Clearwater at 4 pm today.

The other three first round matchups will see Puxico taking on Greenville at 10 am, Neelyville challenging Twin Rivers at noon, and Naylor facing Doniphan at 2 pm.

Seven games of the tournament, including the championship game, will be streamed live on the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook page and River Radio Youtube page

ONE DEAD FOLLOWING WEEKEND CRASH NEAR DONIPHAN

Authorities say that a Northeast Arkansas man has died from injuries he received in a crash over the weekend.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC news that a 34 year old man, from Maynard, Arkansas, was driving on Missouri Highway 21 in Ripley County when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 pm Saturday, 13 miles south of Doniphan.

ARKANSAS MAN INJURED IN BUTLER COUNTY CRASH

An Arkansas man was injured in a single vehicle crash on Friday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 55 year old man, from Piggott, was driving on US Highway 60 when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash occurred one mile east of Poplar Bluff at around 7:30 am Friday.

Officials say that the man was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital with serious injuries.

DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED TODAY IN MISSOURI

Missouri state officials are reminding motorists that driver examinations will not be available today due to the holiday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed today in observance of Columbus Day.

Officials say that normal operations will resume on Tuesday.

GREAT CENTRAL U.S. SHAKEOUT SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY

Millions of people all across the central United States will be participating in the Great Central U.S. Shakeout Earthquake Drill later this week.

The drill is scheduled for 10:16 am on Thursday and officials say the goal is to get everyone prepared for a possible major earthquake.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SET FOR THIS WEEK ON INTERSTATE 55

Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.

The section of roadway being reduced is located between mile markers 17 and 15.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Wednesday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
