SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN TO BE EXECUTED THIS WEEK FOR 2005 DEATH OF MSHP TROOPER
A southeast Missouri man is set to be executed this week for the murder of a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper.
Lance Shockley, of West Plains, was convicted in 2009 for the March 2005 shooting death of Sergeant Carl Graham Jr., who was investigating a fatal crash that involved Shockley.
Shockley was unanimously convicted of first-degree murder along with three aggravating factors. His case was reviewed and upheld by the Missouri Supreme Court, the federal district court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
On June 18th, the Missouri Supreme Court issued a warrant of execution for Shockley, ordering him to be executed within a 24 hour period beginning at 6 pm this evening.
On Monday, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe announced that Shockley’s request for clemency would not be granted.
DATES ANNOUNCED FOR 33RD ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS AUTO TOUR
Officials with the Friends of Wappapello Lake have announced the dates for the 2025 Festival of Lights Auto Tour.
The 33rd Annual Auto Tour will be held at the Redman Creek East Campground from November 28th through December 27th.
This event is being held in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is supported by businesses, volunteers, churches, organizations, and the community.

DOZENS OF PEOPLE REPORT FEELING MAGNITUDE 2.9 EARTHQUAKE OVER THE WEEKEND
Over two dozen people have reported feeling an earthquake strike Southeast Missouri early Saturday morning.
According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.9 earthquake was recorded at 3:28 am Saturday.
The earthquake was centered approximately 2.7 miles northeast of Steele and had a depth of over six miles.
MAN SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Authorities in Southeast Missouri are searching for a man in connection to a weekend shooting.
According to the Hayti Police Department, 26 year old Austin Proby has been formally charged with assault 1st degree, with multiple other felony charges pending, following a shooting incident early Saturday morning.
Anyone who has information on Proby’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department at 573-333-4101.
Do not approach Proby, as officials say he is considered armed and dangerous.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON FLEEING CHARGE
A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody on multiple charges late Sunday night.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 32 year old Kevin Parker was arrested shortly after 11 pm on a felony charge of aggravated fleeing a stop for detention.
Parker is also facing charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle
Following the arrest he was held in the Butler County Jail.
STREET CLOSURE SET FOR TODAY IN DONIPHAN
A Doniphan street will be closed today due to utility repairs.
According to city officials, the repairs will force the temporary closure of the 700 block of North Grand Street.
Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and choose an alternate route if possible. The street will reopen as soon as repairs are completed.
