MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO MURDER CHARGE

A Cardwell man has been sentenced on a murder charge.

According to Missouri Case Net, Charles Lipper pled guilty Thursday to a charge of 1st degree murder.

Lipper was taken into custody in March of this year in connection to the death of 77 year old Vada Nichols, of Cardwell.

On Thursday Lipper received a life sentence. There will be no possibility of parole or probation.

ATV CATCHES FIRE FOLLOWING WRECK IN BUTLER COUNTY

An area man was injured early Thursday morning after being involved in an ATV wreck in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 20 year old Fairdealing man was driving the ATV on Butler County Road 476 when the vehicle ran off the road, struck a fence, overturned, and then caught on fire.

The driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

TRACTOR PULL SET FOR TONIGHT AT THE STODDARD COUNTY FAIR

The Stoddard County Fair is continuing today with multiple events scheduled for tonight.

At 7 pm, the tractor pull is scheduled to begin at Arena A. The Karaoke Contest will be continuing at that time in Arena B.

Also beginning at 7 pm, Maggie Thorn will be performing on the main stage.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE AND SIKESTON JAYCEES TEAMING UP FOR RODEO NEXT MONTH

Three Rivers College and the Sikeston Jaycees are teaming up to host a rodeo next month.

The Sterling Pharmacy Championship College Rodeo has been scheduled for October 11th through the 13th at the Art Saunders Arena at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds.

The rodeo will include multiple events including bull riding, bareback bronc riding, barrel racing, and various roping competitions.

The event is National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association-sanctioned and will feature top competitors from 13 college rodeo teams in the Ozark Region.

Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 12; and free for ages 3 and younger. Tickets go on sale October 1st.

BERNIE MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE

Authorities in Butler County have arrested a Bernie man on multiple drug charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29 year old Aaron Chance was taken into custody Thursday morning on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

Chance was also arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arrest, he was held at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

FOUR ARRESTED DURING WARRANT ROUND-UP IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

Four people were taken into custody earlier this week during a warrant round-up in Northeast Arkansas.

Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells KWOC News that Asa Ray, Owen Hammon, and Joseph Layne were each arrested Tuesday night on charges of delivery of crystal methamphetamine and distribution near a certain facility.

Deputies also arrested Amanda Johnson for possession of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

CHANDLERSTRONG POKER RUN FOR SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND

The ChandlerStrong Poker Run for has been scheduled for this weekend.

Registration will begin at 10 am Saturday at Southeast Signs and Graphics in Poplar Bluff. The cost is $20 per rider and $5 per passenger.

100 percent of the proceeds from the run will go to benefit five year old Chandler Voyles, who is fighting childhood cancer.
