POPLAR BLUFF AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR NON COMPLIANT SEX OFFENDER Authorities in Poplar Bluff are asking for the public’s help in locating a non-compliant sex offender.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 28 year old Justin C. Wilson, of Poplar Bluff, failed to register his home address with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on January 5th.

Officials say that Wilson may be in Ripley County.

Anyone who has information regarding Wilson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Captain David Sutton at 573-785-5776.

 

2018 AG EXPO TO BEGIN TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

Ag Expo 2018 is set to begin today in Poplar Bluff.

Ag Expo will be held both today and tomorrow at the Black River Coliseum. There will be over 114 agriculture related exhibits at the expo along with many activities.

Additional events will include the beauty pageant, FFA tractor driving contest, petting farm, toy tractor pedal-pull, and cow milking contest.

Admission will be $1 for adults.

ARREST MADE IN ARMED ROBBERY OF SIKESTON RESTAURANT

Authorities in Sikeston say an arrest has been made in connection to an armed robbery this week at an area restaurant.

Sergeant Jon Broom with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tells KWOC News that on Wednesday, at approximately 10:46 P.M, officers responded to Burger King on East Malone in reference to an armed robbery.

According to witnesses, a male suspect entered the restaurant during closing time and displayed a black semi auto handgun and forced the assistant manager to open the safe.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Sergeant Broom says that an arrest has been in the case but the name of the suspect cannot be released until he has been formally charged.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with information is being asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711.

 

THREE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO EXECUTION OF SEARCH WARRANTS IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

The execution of multiple search warrants earlier this week led to arrests in Northeast Arkansas.

Chief Jimmy Leach with the Corning Police Department tells KWOC News that on Wednesday, police executed three search warrants in Corning.

Three people are facing drug and paraphernalia charges in connection to the warrants, Sylvia Johnson and Ashley Lewis, both of Corning, as well as Becky Sharpe, whose hometown was not provided.

Leach says that the Clay County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the searches.

 

ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Southeast Missouri was shook again by an earthquake on Thursday.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the 2.7 magnitude earthquake was centered around five miles northeast of Malden.

The quake was recorded at 2:04 pm on Thursday and had a depth of approximately three miles.

 

AAG TRIVIA NIGHT SCHEDULED FOR EARLY NEXT MONTH

The Poplar Bluff High School Academic Assistance Group will be holding their 17th Trivia Night early next month.

The event will begin at 6 pm on Friday, February 2nd at the High School commons area. The cost is $150 per team.

The mission of the AAG is to provide supplemental educational opportunities that would not otherwise be available to Poplar Bluff High School Students.
