MINOR KILLED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WRECK A minor was killed in a wreck Sunday in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 2 pm Sunday on Highway 62 near Corning.

The minor, whose name was not released, was driving a vehicle that reportedly crossed the center line of the highway and went into the path of another vehicle.

No injuries were listed for the driver of the second vehicle.

 

TWO ARRESTED ON HEROIN CHARGE IN BUTLER COUNTY

Two St. Louis residents were each arrested Friday night in Butler County on a heroin charge.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 33 year old Jacquis Powell and 26 year old Danielle Siller were each taken into custody on a felony charge of trafficking drugs 1st degree for heroin.

Both are also facing a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

CARUTHERSVILLE MAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Caruthersville man was flown to an area hospital over the weekend after he was involved in a single vehicle wreck.

According to authorities, on Saturday 37 year old Jason Foster was driving on Missouri Highway 84 in Pemiscot County, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road, hit a ditch, and overturned.

Foster suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to a Memphis hospital.

 

INTERSTATE 55 REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY IN NEW MADRID AND SCOTT COUNTIES

Southbound I-55 in Scott and New Madrid Counties will be reduced with a 14-foot width restriction beginning today as contractor crews perform pavement repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of roadway to be reduced is located from mile marker 66 to mile marker 49.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Saturday, February 3rd from 6 am to 6 pm daily.

 

MAN ENGAGED IN STANDOFF WITH POLICE AFTER ALLEGED AX ATTACK

A man was taken into custody Saturday following a multi hour standoff with authorities in Ripley County.

39 year old Christopher Waddell surrendered to authorities after around three hours and was taken into custody.

Waddell had allegedly attacked people with an ax before the standoff began. No information was available on if there were any injuries.

 

NAME RELEASED OF MAN ARRESTED IN SIKESTON ARMED ROBBERY

Updating a story we brought to you last week, authorities in Sikeston have released the name of a man arrested following an armed robbery at a local restaurant.

Sergeant Jon Broom with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tells KWOC News that on Thursday, detectives arrested 19 year old Byron Allen Jones, of Sikeston, for an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday at the Burger King on East Malone.

Jones has been charged with armed robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of stolen property.

His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

 

MAN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE AND WEAPON CHARGES IN WAYNE COUNTY

An area man was taken into custody Friday evening in Wayne County on multiple felony charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 28 year old Justin Skaggs, of Greenville, was arrested shortly after 5 pm Friday on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful use of a weapon.

Skaggs also reportedly had warrants from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the arrest, Skaggs was held at the Wayne County Jail.

 

OVER THREE MONTH BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT TO FORCE CLOSURE OF NEW MADRID COUNTY HIGHWAY

Route W in New Madrid County will be closed for over three months beginning today so contractor crews can perform a bridge replacement.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone is located between Route AE and County Road 613.

The road is set to re-open on Monday, April 30th.
