VOTING UNDERWAY IN MISSOURI’S PRIMARY ELECTION

Polls have opened for the Missouri Primary Election.

Voters will be deciding on nominations and propositions on both the state and local level today.

You can find your voting location online at sos.mo.gov/elections. Polls will close at 7 pm, and anyone in line to vote at that time will still get to cast a ballot.

SUBJECT CHARGED WITH 2ND DEGREE MURDER FOLLOWING FATAL SHOOTING IN CARUTHERSVILLE

Updating a story we have been following for you, a suspect has been taken into custody in connection to a fatal shooting over the weekend in Carthursville.

According to the Caruthersville Police Department, officers responded to a location on Ward Avenue following a report of a shooting on Saturday. At the scene, officers found a man on the ground suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The man, 33 year old Adrin Hunt of Caruthersville, was later pronounced dead.

An investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of Domonique Benson, of Caruthersville, on charges of murder 2nd degree, armed criminal action, robbery 1st degree, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Officials say that the investigation is ongoing.

POPLAR BLUFF HOUSING AUTHORITY TO HOST BLOCK PARTY TONIGHT

The Poplar Bluff Housing Authority will be throwing a block party tonight.

The National Night Out Block Party will be held from 5 to 7 pm at the Housing Authority on North E Street.

The free event will include food, games, a petting zoo, music, family activities, and more.

Officials say that the Block Party is to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

MAN IN CUSTODY IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS ON SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE

A Northeast Arkansas man is in custody following allegations of sexual assault.

According to a warrant affidavit, 35 year old Jonathan Hawkins, of Paragould, is accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile victim on multiple occasions.

Hawkins has been booked into the Greene County Justice Center on two counts of felony sexual assault 2nd degree.

His bond was set at $250,000.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL REQUESTED TO INVESTIGATE AFTER INMATE FOUND DEAD IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been requested to investigate after an inmate was found dead in Dunklin County.

Dunklin County Sheriff Nick Darter tells KWOC News that an inmate housed at the Dunklin County Justice Center was found unresponsive in a housing unit after an apparent suicide Sunday morning.

The inmate was pronounced dead despite life-saving measures taken by staff.

Darter says that he has asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control to conduct the investigation into the incident.

An autopsy has also been scheduled by the Dunklin County Coroner.

ROAD PROJECT UNDERWAY IN DUNKLIN AND PEMISCOT COUNTIES

Route HH in Dunklin and Pemiscot counties will be reduced this week while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of Route HH being reduced is located from Route 153 in Dunklin County to Route EE in Pemiscot County.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through Wednesday.
