PORTAGEVILLE BASEBALL HOSTS STATE QUARTERFINAL GAME THIS AFTERNOON
The Portageville Bulldogs baseball team will be hosting their Class 2 state quarterfinal matchup this afternoon.
The Bulldogs will face the Veritas Christian Academy Eagles at 4 pm at Meatte Park in Portageville.
Audio coverage of the state quarterfinal matchup will be carried live on Shuffle 92.9 and on the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook page.
Video coverage will also be available for a fee at MSHSAA.tv.
MALDEN MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING CHILD MOLESTATION AND STATUTORY SODOMY
An investigation has led to the arrest of an area man on multiple charges.
According to a Probable Cause Affidavit filed in Dunklin County, Anthony Adams, of Malden, is accused of having inappropriate contact with a juvenile victim.
Adams is facing charges including statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy and two counts of child molestation - 1st degree.
His bond was set at $135,000, cash only.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ATHLETES TO COMPETE IN SPECIAL OLYMPICS USA GAMES THIS SUMMER
Multiple Southeast Missouri athletes will be participating in the Special Olympics USA Games this summer.
Team Missouri will include two athletes from the Sikeston area. Kayla Dannenmuller will be competing in bowling, while Logan Gardner is a member of the Volleyball team. Melody Gardner, also of Sikeston, will serve as a volleyball coach.
The Special Olympics USA Games will take place from June 20th June 26th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS ELLSINORE GRANT APPLICATION
A meeting will be held later this month to discuss a submission for grant money for the city of Ellsinore.
City officials will hold a public hearing at 4:45 p.m. on May 29th at the Ellsinore City Hall to discuss the city’s submission of an application for a Community Development Block Grant.
The proposed project consists of creating an ADA sidewalk along the east side of Herren Avenue from the intersection with N Highway at the north and the bridge over Cane Creek at the south end. The project estimate eligible for CDBG funding will be equal to or less than the cap allowable amount of $500,000.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE ROAD CLOSURE TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY
Route P in Wayne County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of roadway being closed is located from Route TT to County Road 511. While work takes place, the road will be open to local traffic only.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
EXPECT DELAYS THIS WEEK ON ROUTE U IN THE PATTERSON AREA
Route U in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement improvements.
MoDOT officials say that flaggers and a pilot car will be in place to guide traffic from Route FF to Route B near Patterson.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Thursday.
