POPLAR BLUFF MULES WIN STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The Poplar Bluff Mules are state golf champions.

The Mules won the Class 4 Boys State Team Championship on Thursday at Columbia Country Club.

For the individual results, Poplar Bluff’s Landon Barks finished in 1st place, Corbin Thomas was second place, Chaz Love finished in 5th place, Teagan Kassing was 74th, and Chase Maurer finished in 85th.

This is the 8th State Championship for the Poplar Bluff Mules Boys Golf team.

DISAGREEMENT LEADS TO FATAL SHOOTING IN BUTLER COUNTY

Authorities in Butler County are investigating a fatal shooting from Tuesday morning.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that shortly before 12:30 am Tuesday, deputies responded to a location on Sturgeon Lane, south of Poplar Bluff, for a male subject that had been shot.

Butler County Coroner Jim Akers says that 37 year old Earnest Luellen was found dead at the scene.

Dobbs says that all parties involved in the shooting have been located and detained. Dobbs added that the shooting was the result of an ongoing disagreement.

Coroner Akers says that his office is involved in the investigation and that an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR MURDER OF HIS MOTHER

A Southeast Missouri man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of murdering his mother.

Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain tells KWOC News that 43 year old Trevor Huber, of Cardwell, was found guilty of first degree murder following a two day trial this week.

Huber was arrested in December 2018 after his mother, 63 year old Charlotte Wilson, was found deceased inside their home.

Investigators interviewed Huber and he told them he had done methamphetamine a few days before the murder and that he believed his mother was poisoning him. He eventually wrote, “I killed my mother” on a piece of paper and swallowed it.

On Tuesday, Huber was sentenced to life in prison without the

possibility of parole.

CREWS RESPOND TO SCENE OF FIRE AT BUSINESS IN BROSELEY

Crews responded to the scene of a business fire Tuesday morning in Butler County.

According to authorities, the fire broke out at Jeff's Place bar in Broseley.

No information was available on how much damage the business sustained by the fire. There have been no reports of any injuries.

SEAL COAT OPERATIONS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK ON US HIGHWAY 60 IN CARTER AND SHANNON COUNTIES

Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be making driving surface improvements this week on East and Westbound Route 60 in Shannon and Carter counties.

Crews will be working from Route J in Carter County to Route 17 in Shannon County.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm today and tomorrow.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR VARIOUS ROUTES TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Missouri Department of Transportation crews will be reducing multiple Stoddard County roads today for bridge maintenance.

Crews will be working from Route 25 from Route E to Mary Street and Route AA from Depot Road to Route AC in Bloomfield, Route E from Route 25 to County Road 537 near Bloomfield, and Route 114 from Route KK to Route 25 near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 4 pm.
