DEXTER MAN CHARGED WITH 10 COUNTS OF CHILD MOLESTATION

A Dexter man has been charged with multiple counts of child molestation.

Dexter Police Chief Hank Trout tells KWOC News that 39 year old Andrew Rudd was arrested in connection to an investigation into a report of sexual assault involving a juvenile.

Rudd is being held at the Stoddard County Jail on a no bond warrant for ten counts of child molestation - 4th degree.

MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTING TO HIT A JUVENILE WITH A HAMMER

A northeast Arkansas man has been taken into custody after he allegedly attempted to attack a juvenile with a hammer.

According to an arrest affidavit, on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a residence in Paragould for a subject that had attacked multiple people.

At the scene, officers were advised that the defendant, 37 year old Robert Calhoun, of Paragould, attempted to hit a juvenile with a hammer and was immediately confronted by another adult male inside the residence.

The defendant and the male victim got into a physical altercation where the victim received minor injuries to the face and lip.

Calhoun was quickly located and placed into custody.

He is being held in the Greene County jail on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and domestic battering - 3rd degree.

His bond was set at $35,000.

POPLAR BLUFF EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENINGS SET FOR THIS MONTH

The Poplar Bluff Early Childhood Center will soon host its final screenings for the 2026/27 school year this month.

According to school officials, screenings will be held today and the final screening day will take place on Thursday, May 28th.

To be eligible, children must be between three or four years old on July 31st, 2026.

TRC COMMUNITY CHOIR TO PERFORM NEXT WEEK

The Three Rivers College Community Choir will be putting on a performance next week.

The Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts is presenting the TRC Community Choir at 7 p.m. on May 18th at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center.

The choir features local singers who will be performing a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to theatrical to popular to sacred.

CREWS TO CLOSE STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT

Route Y in Stoddard County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.

The section of Route Y affected is located from Route DD to County Road 585.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through 4 p.m.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY ON ROUTE AD IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route AD in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge maintenance.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from North Outer Road to South Outer Road in Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
