FALL BUFF UP THE BLUFF COMING ON OCTOBER 10TH

The 2026 Fall Buff up the Bluff event is set for this weekend.

The citywide clean up event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 10th.

Henson’s Transfer Station on the Industrial Park Bypass will be accepting items during the event.

2026 POPLAR BLUFF WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

An annual event in Poplar Bluff to help fight Alzheimer’s disease is coming soon.

The 2026 Poplar Bluff Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin at 10 am on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff High School track.

Registration will begin at 9 am that morning and you can also register online at alz.org/PoplarBluff.

All funds raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer's furthers the care, support, and research efforts of the nonprofit Alzheimer's Association.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IN POPLAR BLUFF HOSTING CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT BUDDY BALL

A cornhole tournament is scheduled for Sunday to benefit a local organization.

The Knights of Columbus in Poplar Bluff will be hosting the Tootsie Toss Cornhole Tournament beginning at 2 pm on Sunday.

Entry for the double elimination tournament is $40 per team, with cash prizes awarded to the top 3 teams. Proceeds will stay local to support Buddy Ball.

POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST PARADE FOR VETERANS DAY

Poplar Bluff area veterans are being invited to participate in a parade for Veteran’s Day this November.

The Poplar Bluff Middle School is hosting its annual Veteran’s Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11th. Veterans who want to be involved will get to drive through a parade loop around the PBMS campus to be recognized and cheered on by students.

The Parade will begin at 9:15 am.

Only veterans, students, and school staff will be allowed on campus for the event.

Any veteran that would like to join the parade is asked to call 573-785-5566 and ask to speak to a counselor.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR YOUTH VOLLEYBALL IN POPLAR BLUFF

Parents in Poplar Bluff have the opportunity to get their children registered for youth volleyball.

According to the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Department, girls in 7th through 12th grade can be registered through October 18th.

Games are expected to start in mid-November at Poplar Bluff Middle School.

STATE OFFICIALS REMINDING MOTORISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR DEER

With fall upon us, Missouri officials are warning motorists to watch for deer.

State officials say that deer are more active and create hazards for Missouri motorists at this time of year.

The majority of deer strike crashes occur in October and November each year, with the largest number taking place in November. Although deer strikes can occur at any time, most occur between the hours of 6 and 7 am in the morning and 6 to 9 pm in the evening.

Last year, drivers in Missouri experienced over 2,800 traffic crashes involving a deer. In these crashes, there were six fatalities and 435 people were injured.

Missouri ranked 15th in the country in deer-vehicle collisions last year according to an annual report by State Farm.
