BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SERVES SEARCH WARRANT AT INTERNET CAFE

A search was conducted over the weekend at a Butler County business.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that shortly after noon on Saturday, officers with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the Boomtown 2 Internet Café, located near the intersection of Highways 142 and 53 in Butler County.

Dobbs says the investigation at Boomtown 2 is not connected to the other businesses involved in previous cases, but is part of the Sheriff’s Office’s overall operation targeting alleged illegal gambling activity.

Officers seized what authorities described as illegal gambling equipment, proceeds connected to the alleged gambling operation, and other evidence associated with the investigation.

Dobbs added that the investigation is ongoing.

BUTLER COUNTY WARNING SIRENS TO BE TESTED TODAY

Don’t be surprised if you hear sirens today in Butler County.

According to the Butler County Emergency Management Agency, the Poplar Bluff and Butler County outdoor warning sirens are scheduled to be tested today at noon.

Officials say that the tests will be conducted every month on the first Monday.

2026 POPLAR BLUFF WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

An annual event in Poplar Bluff to help fight Alzheimer’s disease is coming soon.

The 2026 Poplar Bluff Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin at 10 am on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff High School track.

Registration will begin at 9 am that morning and you can also register online at alz.org/PoplarBluff.

All funds raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer's furthers the care, support, and research efforts of the nonprofit Alzheimer's Association.

FALL BUFF UP THE BLUFF COMING ON OCTOBER 10TH

The 2026 Fall Buff up the Bluff event is set for this weekend.

The citywide clean up event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 10th.

Henson’s Transfer Station on the Industrial Park Bypass will be accepting items during the event.

MODOT CREWS TO BE WORKING THIS WEEK IN DUDLEY

Route TT in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.

This section of roadway is located from Route 60 to Stone Street in Dudley, Missouri.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

TWO WEEK INTERSTATE REPAIR PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 14-foot width restriction beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. 

The work zone is located from mile marker 9.4 to mile marker 8.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, October 16.
