BONESTOCK RETURNS THIS WEEKEND IN POPLAR BLUFF
A beloved music festival returns this weekend in Poplar Bluff.
The gates will open for Bonestock at 11 am this Saturday at Ray Clinton Park.
Ten bands will be performing throughout the day, including Fallen Within, Kain’s Alibi, Stay the Sane, Judah Dean, and headchange.
Tickets are available for $20 at Z95theBone.net. Tickets will also be available for $20 cash at the gate on Saturday.
Part of the proceeds from Bonestock will go to the Animal Welfare Alliance in Poplar Bluff.

FALLEN BUTLER COUNTY FIREFIGHTER TO BE HONORED AT MEMORIAL SERVICE THIS WEEKEND
A fallen Butler County firefighter will be honored at a memorial service this weekend.
Missouri’s fire service will host memorial services at the Fire Fighters Memorial of Missouri in Kingdom City to honor the state’s fallen firefighters. On Saturday at 7 p.m., a candlelight vigil will be held for all Missouri firefighters who have died while serving their communities.
On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., a memorial service will be held in which attention will be called to five Missouri firefighters recognized recently as having died in the line of duty, including Butler County Fire Protection District Shift Commander Jackson Warren.
Warren died in the line of duty on March 6th when a brush truck he was driving to respond to a grass fire crashed in a single vehicle accident.
Warren’s name has also been added to a monument wall commemorating Missouri firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their fellow Missourians.
Governor Mike Kehoe has proclaimed October 4th as Fire Service Memorial Day in Missouri.
NINE JAIL EMPLOYEES FIRED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS IN CONNECTION TO INVESTIGATION OF INMATES DEATH
Numerous employees at a Northeast Arkansas jail have been let go in connection to the investigation of an inmate's death last month.
Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder tells KWOC News that on September 22, 18 year old Atiyanna Willis died after experiencing a medical emergency in the Greene County Detention Center.
The Arkansas State Police was requested to conduct an independent investigation which is ongoing.
Sheriff Snyder says that he has also conducted a preliminary review and fired nine jail employees who did not meet the standards set for the jail.
The Sheriff added that every jail employee will also be re-trained, starting immediately.

MALDEN MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE
A Malden man has been taken into custody on a child pornography charge.
According to a probable cause affidavit, earlier this year authorities received information about possible possession, manufacture, or distribution of child pornography concerning an individual in Malden.
An investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on Wednesday at the residence of 29 year old David Gibbs III. During an interview with Gibbs, the man reportedly admitted to using the internet to find and download child pornography. He had also sent it to other users.
Gibbs is being held on a charge of possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $95,000.
TRADITION TO BE CELEBRATED DURING NAYLOR HERITAGE DAY THIS WEEKEND
Area residents will be celebrating the community of Naylor’s traditions this weekend.
The 43rd Annual Naylor Heritage Day will begin at 9:30 am on October 3rd with the flag raising on Front Street.
The parade down Main Street will follow starting at 10 am. The Heritage Day festivities will also include a pageant, kid zone, fish fry, and vendors.
The event will wrap up with a block party starting at 6 pm.

FALL FIREARMS TURKEY SEASON UNDERWAY IN MISSOURI
The fall firearms turkey season is underway in Missouri.
According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, the season will run through October 31st. The hours for hunting will be from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset each day.
Hunters may take two turkeys of either sex during the season and there are restrictions on the type of firearms that may be used.
There are also multiple counties where firearm turkey hunting will not be permitted during the season, including Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, and Scott counties.

14TH ANNUAL LIBERTY DAYS EVENT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY
The Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library in Bloomfield is hosting its 14th annual Liberty Days event in early October.
The public event will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on October 3rd. Officials say there will be a living history village, food and craft vendors, live entertainment, battle reenactments, and more.
Admission to the event is free.
