BUTLER COUNTY EMA LOOKING FOR NAMES OF VOLUNTEERS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO HELPED POPLAR BLUFF RECOVER FROM SPRING STORMS

The Butler County EMA Director is looking for the names of people who helped the area recover following the storms that occurred in March.

According to Robbie Myers, they are looking for the name of any group, agency, church, business, or individual that helped the community during the storm recovery.

The list will be shared online, with legislators, and Governor Mike Kehoe.

Anyone who wants to submit a name is asked to do it by emailing BluffStrongShoutout@gmail.com.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL AFTER WEEKEND CRASH

A Poplar Bluff woman was badly injured in a crash over the weekend near Harviell.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 24 year old woman was driving on US Highway 160 shortly before 2:30 am Saturday when her vehicle ran the left side of the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.

The woman suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR 2025 POPLAR BLUFF WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S

A date has been announced for an annual event in Poplar Bluff to help fight Alzheimer’s disease.

The 2025 Poplar Bluff Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin at 10 am on Saturday, October 4th at the Poplar Bluff High School track on Oak Grove Road.

Registration will begin at 9 am that morning and you can also register online at alz.org/PoplarBluff.

All funds raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer's furthers the care, support, and research efforts of the nonprofit Alzheimer's Association.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN ARRESTED ON RAPE CHARGES

Authorities in a Southeast Missouri town have arrested an area man on rape charges.

Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield tells KWOC News that on Friday, 66 year old Leon Amerson, of Steele, was arrested on an active Pemiscot County warrant charging him with 1st degree rape or attempted rape - aggravated sexual offense, 1st degree rape or attempted rape, and 1st degree sodomy or attempted sodomy.

Stanfield added that his department had received a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a minor which initiated the investigation.

Amerson was held on no bond at the Pemiscot County Justice Center.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR NEW DEXTER CLASSROOM

A ribbon cutting ceremony has been scheduled for this month to celebrate the opening of a new Three Rivers College classroom.

TRC and Farm Credit Southeast Missouri will be hosting the ribbon cutting for the new Farm Credit Southeast Missouri Classroom at 1 p.m. on August 21, at the Three Rivers College - Dexter location.

The classroom is part of a partnership that will include a new agriculture education classroom built on the Three Rivers Farm in Fairdealing, and Farm Credit Southeast Missouri classrooms at Three Rivers locations in Poplar Bluff, Dexter, Kennett, and Sikeston.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON BUSINESS 60 IN STODDARD COUNTY

Business 60 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace a culvert under the roadway.

The work zone is located from Two Mile Road to Smith Avenue in Dexter.

Weather permitting, crews will be working today through 4 p.m.
