FAIRDEALING WOMAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH
A woman was killed in an early morning crash in Stoddard County.
According to the authorities, the crash occurred shortly after 2 am Thursday morning on US Highway 51, three miles south of Puxico, when a vehicle ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 44 year old woman from Fairdealing, was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham.
MULES FOOTBALL KICKS OFF REGULAR SEASON TONIGHT IN JONESBORO
The Poplar Bluff Mules Football team is looking to get the 2025 football season off to a great start tonight against Valley View High School, from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The Mules will travel to Jonesboro today, with kickoff set for 7 pm. The teams also kicked off the season last year with Valley View picking up a 42-14 win in Poplar Bluff.
The Mules went 4-5 in the regular season last year before falling to Cape Central in the Class 5, District 1 Semi-Finals. Valley View finished the 2024 campaign with a 12-1 record, with their season coming to an end in the Arkansas Class 5A State Semifinals.

HIGHWAY PATROL URGES SAFETY FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND
With Labor Day weekend almost here, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is urging everyone to be safe during the holiday weekend.
The Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. this weekend.
Troopers will be patrolling Missouri’s roadways, enforcing Missouri’s speed limit, seat belt, and impaired driving laws, in addition to being available to assist motorists.
Last year, 17 people were killed and 498 were injured in Missouri over the Labor Day holiday weekend in 1,058 traffic crashes. Also, 110 people were arrested by the Highway Patrol for driving while intoxicated.
The Labor Day holiday is also a busy boating weekend. In 2024, there were four boating crashes which included two fatalities and eight injuries.
TWO PEOPLE FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH IN MISSOURI BOOTHEEL
Two people were flown from the scene of a crash earlier this week in Southeast Missouri.
According to authorities, the crash happened south of Caruthersville Wednesday evening when a truck ran off the side of Highway D and overturned.
The driver and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 55 year old man from Ridgley, Tennessee, and a 44 year old man from Caruthersville, each suffered serious injuries in the crash and were flown to a Memphis hospital.
DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED MONDAY IN MISSOURI
Missouri state officials are reminding motorists that driver examinations will not be available on Monday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
Officials say that normal operations will resume on Tuesday.
TRUCK PARKING ON INTERSTATE 55 IN PEMISCOT COUNTY TO BE CLOSED NEXT WEEK
Truck drivers should be aware of a closure scheduled for next week in Southeast Missouri.
Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation tell KWOC News that the northbound Pemiscot County truck parking on Northbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be closed so crews can perform facility repairs.
Weather permitting, work will begin on Monday, with the site re-opening by 4 pm on Thursday.
