MAN ARRESTED ON WEAPON AND DRUG CHARGES IN WAYNE COUNTY
A man has been taken into custody in Wayne County on weapon and drug charges.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, on August 22nd, deputies responded to a residence in Wappapello regarding a male subject acting erratically and firing a firearm.
At the scene, deputies seized the firearm and found narcotic equipment containing methamphetamine residue on the person of a subject identified as Jared Hull.
Hull was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail where more methamphetamine was located on his person.
Hull has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and delivery of a controlled substance inside a jail facility.
MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING A VICTIM WITH A FLASHLIGHT IN RIPLEY COUNTY
A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a victim on Monday in Ripley County.
According to a probable cause statement, 54 year old William Dilbeck, of Oxly, is accused of striking the victim in the head with a metal flashlight three times and then punching them. The victim had a deep cut over their left eyebrow, but refused EMS treatment.
A deputy made contact with Dilbeck who said that an argument had occurred but nothing was ever physical.
Dilbeck was taken into custody and a black metal flashlight was seized that matched a description provided by the victim.
According to Missouri Case Net, Dilbeck is facing felony charges of assault 2nd degree and armed criminal action.
25 MILE COMMUNITY YARD SALE TO BEGIN ON FRIDAY NEAR WAPPAPELLO LAKE

The 25 mile Community Yard Sale will be going on from August 29th through September 1st along T Highway in Butler County and Route D in Wayne County from the north end of the Dam to AA Highway.
According to the US Army Corps of Engineers, vendors will be set up in the large grassy area at the Spillway Recreation area during the event.
Officials say that anyone who wants to set up at the Spillway Recreation Area needs to contact the Wappapello Lake Management Office at 573-222-8562 to receive a free application form.
POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES NEW TRUCK
The Poplar Bluff Fire Department has received a new tool to help save lives of citizens in the city.
The Fire Department recently took delivery of a Rosenbauer Group rear mount pumper fire truck.
Officials say that a second raised roof pumper will be delivered to the Poplar Bluff Fire Department later this year.
The Fire Department has shared a walkthrough of the features of the new fire truck on their facebook page.
PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT UNDERWAY NEAR VAN BUREN
Route D in Carter and Reynolds Counties will be reduced to one lane through next week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
The work zone is located between County Road 630 and County Road 123 near Van Buren.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday, September 5.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON US ROUTE 62
Route 62 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
The section of roadway being reduced is located between Route NN and County Road 558 near Malden.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
