NO FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED AFTER BODY FOUND NEAR BLOOMFIELD
Officials in Stoddard County say that no foul play is suspected in connection to a body that was found earlier this week.
According to Stoddard County Chief Deputy Andrew Holden, the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office responded to the scene of a deceased individual Monday evening near State Highway AB, north of Bloomfield.
The individual has since been identified as 46 year old Michael Curry, of Matthews.
An autopsy was conducted on Thursday and Holden says that no foul play is suspected at this time.
11TH ANNUAL RIDE FOR A CURE TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY
The 11th Annual Ride for a Cure Dice Run in memory of Larry Maronay is set for this weekend.
Registration for the event will begin at 10 am on Saturday at the Dexter Elks Lodge, with the ride beginning at 11 am. The entry fee is $20 per bike and $10 for an additional rider with a meal included at the end of the ride.
All proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH ON US HIGHWAY 67
A Poplar Bluff woman was flown from the scene of a crash Thursday afternoon in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 34 year old woman was driving on US Highway 67, three miles south of Poplar Bluff, when the vehicle travelled off the side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.
The woman, who was not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the wreck and later flown to a Memphis hospital with serious injuries.
REGISTRATION AVAILABLE FOR FALL YOUTH SOCCER IN POPLAR BLUFF
Registration is available for OSL youth soccer this Fall in Poplar Bluff.
Parents can register their children in ages 4 through 8th grade through September 1st. The cost is $30 per player with games expected to begin the week of September 22nd.
A special sign up event has also been scheduled for this Saturday from 10 am to noon at the Whiteley Park Pavilion.

HEALTH EXPO TO BE HELD IN LATE AUGUST AT BLACK RIVER COLISEUM
A free health event has been scheduled for late August in Poplar Bluff.
Missouri Highlands Healthcare is holding the Hope and Healing Wellness Expo from 9 am to 2 pm on August 28th at the Black River Coliseum.
The event is free to attend and will include health screenings, wellness and recovery resources, a food bank, and more.

RIPLEY COUNTY MAN TO TAKE OVER AS AREA REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI REGION FOR THE FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
A Ripley County man will be the new area representative for the Ozark-Southwest area of the Southeast Missouri FCA Region.
Derrill Martin accepted the position earlier this month and will serve a six county area in Southeast Missouri.
Martin has served on the staff of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for a combined twenty years, as a Huddle Coordinator of the Greater St. Louis Area FCA from 1984 to 1996 then as the Area Director of the St. Charles Area FCA from 2007 to 2014.
Martin has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Missouri and a Master’s Degree in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University.
