POPLAR BLUFF MULES FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
The Poplar Bluff Mules football team will be kicking off the fall season this week.
The Maroon/White Scrimmage game will be held Saturday at 7 pm at Poplar Bluff High School. Poplar Bluff Athletics Director Joe Brown tells KWOC News that they will be taking sports drink donations at the door for admission.
Today’s Talk KWOC 93.3 FM and 930 AM will be covering the scrimmage live Saturday beginning at 6:45 pm on the KWOC Facebook and River Radio Youtube pages.
SEND OFF PARADE TO BE HELD IN QULIN FOR UPCOMING VETERANS HONOR TOUR
The Veterans Honor Tour will depart for their annual Washington DC trip next month and a local community is stepping up to give the veterans the send off they deserve.
Qulin Mayor Justin Parks tells KWOC News that the city of Qulin will be hosting a celebration for the veterans beginning at 9:45 am on Wednesday, September 24th at the Qulin Lion’s Club Park.
A send off parade will follow at 10 am with the route going from 5th Street, to Highway 53, to D Street, and ending on 2nd Street.
The public is encouraged to line the streets and wave flags to celebrate our veterans.

DUCK BLIND DRAWING SET FOR THIS WEEKEND AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE
The annual duck blind drawing at Wappapello Lake will be conducted this weekend.
According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the drawing and registration will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitors Center.
The registration fee is $15 and applicants are asked to use a credit or debit card.
Permitted duck blinds may be placed on the lake after Labor Day and must be removed from the lake, or transferred to a permitted storage cove, within two weeks of the closure of the zoned duck season.

POPLAR BLUFF MULES SEASON PASSES NOW AVAILABLE
Fans of the Poplar Bluff Mules athletics program now have a chance to purchase season passes for the upcoming athletic year and help our student athletes.
The Mules Booster Club is offering the passes, which grants access to almost all Poplar Bluff Mules home games in all sports for the 2025-26 school year.
A single pass is $75 and a family pass is $150. For more information, contact any Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club member. Passes will also be available before the Maroon/White Scrimmage game Saturday night.
POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION TO HOST FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE THIS FALL
Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for a flag football league this fall.
According to officials, league play will be held from September 6th through October 11th and there will be two divisions, one for 1st and 2nd graders and the other for 3rd and 4th graders.
The cost is $20 per child to register, which includes a t-shirt and team jersey. Today is the final day to get your child registered.

ALMOST MONTH LONG ROAD PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
Route 158 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction for almost a month as contractor crews perform pavement repairs.
The section of roadway being reduced is located from Route 160 to Route 142 near Harviell.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday, September 11th, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
