POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN KILLED IN COLLISION NEAR GREENVILLE
Authorities have released information concerning a fatal weekend crash in Wayne County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a 61 year old Poplar Bluff woman pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle on US Highway 67 at Greenville Saturday afternoon.
Wayne County Coroner Mark Smith tells KWOC News that the woman has been identified as 61 year old Mildred Richardson. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Wayne County assistant coroner.
No injuries were listed for the driver of the other vehicle.
COOLING ITEM GIVEAWAY TO BE HELD TODAY AT RIVER RADIO IN POPLAR BLUFF
River Radio and Missouri Highlands Health Care are teaming up today to distribute cooling items to area residents during the ongoing heatwave.
Beginning at 9:30 this morning, the River Radio parking lot in Poplar Bluff will be stocked with free box fans, bottled water, neck fans, and more.
Supplies are limited so area residents are encouraged to stop by River Radio early to pick up some items to help you stay cool.
FREE MEALS TO BE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR FOR TWIN RIVERS STUDENTS IN FISK AND QULIN
Twin Rivers elementary and middle school students will be getting free meals this year.
School officials have announced that for the upcoming school year, Twin Rivers is participating in the Community Eligibility Program at the Fisk and Qulin Elementary and Middle School campuses.
The program will serve meals to students at no cost and without the need for families to complete meal applications, giving students one breakfast and one lunch per day for free throughout the academic year.
MOTORCYCLE RIDER INJURED AFTER STRIKING ANIMAL ON ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
A motorcycle rider was transported to an area hospital Sunday evening after striking an animal in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 8 pm Sunday on Route K near Leora.
The driver, identified as a 42 year old male from Pacific, Missouri, received serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Dexter hospital.
FREE STUDENT ATHLETE PHYSICALS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK IN POPLAR BLUFF
Poplar Bluff High School and Junior High student athletes can get a free physical done this week at the High School.
Physicals will be conducted beginning at 5:30 pm on Thursday, July 31st for athletes in the 7th and 8th grades, beginning at 6:30 pm for 9th and 10th grades, and beginning at 7:30 pm for 11th and 12th grades.

OVER TWO MONTH ROAD PROJECT BEGINS TODAY NEAR COOTER
Route O in Pemiscot County will be closed for over two months beginning today so construction crews can replace a box culvert under the roadway.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of roadway being closed is located from County Road 559 to County Road 561 near Cooter.
Weather permitting, work will start today with completion anticipated by Thursday, October 2nd.
