WOMAN ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT OF A CHILD IN POPLAR BLUFF

A woman was arrested Thursday after a small child was located in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on Thursday, officers were dispatched to a residence on Midland Street in Poplar Bluff in reference to a toddler knocking on doors.

Officers located the child, only wearing sweatpants and began looking for their parents or guardians.

The officers found a residence with a door wide open and announced themselves several times with no answer.

After they entered, they found a male and female sleeping inside the residence.

Both subjects initially denied having any children multiple times, however the female eventually admitted to being the parent.

Officials say that She'sa Williams was taken into custody for abuse or neglect of a child and lodged in the Butler County Justice Center.

Children's Division was also contacted for an investigation.

ONE PERSON SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR PUXICO

One person was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash near Puxico.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 44 year old Jeremy Stallings, of Sturdivant, was driving on Missouri Highway 51 when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

Officials say the crash occurred five miles south of Puxico.

Stallings suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN THE UPCOMING ARKANSAS PRIMARY

The Arkansas Primary date has been set for March 5th, which makes today the final day for voters to make sure they are registered.

New voters can register for the primary at their local County Clerk’s office or Department of Motor Vehicles.

AREA ORGANIZATIONS TO RECEIVE TAX CREDITS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Multiple area organizations will receive tax credits for community development projects.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development has announced that it will award more than $9 million in tax credits through the Neighborhood Assistance Program to 46 organizations in the state.

In Southeast Missouri, the Boys and Girls Club of Poplar Bluff will utilize $250,000 in NAP credits to perform civil and vertical engineering work for a 30,000-square-foot workforce development center.

Whole Kids Outreach in Ellington was chosen to receive almost $350,000 in tax credits which will be directed to the Healthy Families America program and Maternal-Child Nursing program.

The Williamsville Area Association of Senior Citizens will utilize almost $200,000 in NAP funds to purchase and install two HVAC systems, upgrade kitchen equipment, improve the parking lot, and improve the entrance to allow easier wheelchair access to the building.

SHOULDER WORK PROJECT SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Missouri Route 51 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.

The section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 659 to County Road 644 near Qulin.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through Wednesday.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route AB in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane early this week as crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation replace a culvert along the roadway.

The work zone is located between Route 25 and County Road 503 near Bloomfield.

Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
