DRIVER KILLED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
A Tallapoosa driver was killed from a vehicle crash in New Madrid County on Friday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling down Route 62, west of Route J, before it ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch, causing it to overturn and catch fire.
The 60 year old driver, Danny Summerton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
BUTLER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFERING FREE COVID-19 TESTING
The Butler County Health Department is offering coronavirus tests through the next few months.
According to the Department, testing for COVID-19 will be performed for residents at the Butler County Health Department building throughout June and July. Testing will be performed through nasopharyngeal swabs.
To register for a test, you must be 16 years of age or older. Registration is available at www.ButlerCountyHealth.org
AREA RESIDENT ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A Poplar Bluff resident was taken into custody in Stoddard County on drug related charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 20 year old Shannon Hatcher was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, as well as unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following her arrest, she was transported to the Stoddard County Jail.
ADDITIONAL CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY; MISSOURI TOTAL NOW OVER 18,000
More cases of the coronavirus have been reported over the weekend, while the total cases in Missouri have reached over 18,000.
According to the Butler County Health Department, 3 cases have been reported since Friday, raising the County’s total to 78. The patients have been quarantined, and the department is working with the CDC to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patients were active.
In Missouri, as of Sunday, there are a total of 18,003 cases of COVID-19 in the state, and 956 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.

DEXTER WOMAN CHARGED ON METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION IN BUTLER COUNTY
A Dexter woman was arrested in Butler County on Sunday for methamphetamine possession.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that 25 year old Autumn Williams was taken into custody on possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, and possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.
She was also charged on unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Williams was transported to the Butler County Jail following her arrest.
INJURIES REPORTED FROM VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
Injuries were reported from a Butler County vehicle crash on Saturday.
According to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Highway O, north of Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle suffered moderate injuries from the crash, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.
