POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION TO BE HELD AT BLACK RIVER COLISEUM 

 

The Poplar Bluff High School’s Graduation Ceremony has been scheduled to take place at the Black River Coliseum. 

According to a post by the High School, the ceremony will be held at the Coliseum on Tuesday, starting at 7 pm, and will be broadcast live through the school’s Facebook page. Admittance to the ceremony will be by ticket only. 

The school’s Prom will also be held at the Coliseum, from 7 through 11 pm on Saturday.

TOTAL CASES OF CORONAVIRUS IN BUTLER COUNTY CONTINUES TO RISE

 

The total number of cases of the COVID-19 virus in Butler County have continued to increase. 

According to the Butler County Health Department, four new cases of the disease were reported Thursday, raising the County’s total cases to 71. The patients have been quarantined, and the department will be working to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patients were active. 

Of the 71 cases, one is hospitalized, 29 are in self-isolation, and 41 have recovered. 

If you are showing any symptoms of the coronavirus, such as shortness of breath, fever, and persistent coughing, you are advised to contact your primary healthcare provider before visiting any hospital or emergency rooms.

ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION

 

A roadway in Stoddard County will be reduced while several projects take place. 

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, various locations across Route WW will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction while the multiple road projects are underway, including pavement repairs from Route 60 to Route J. 

The work is set to begin today, and will continue through July 15th, from 6 am to 6 pm each day.

RIVER RADIO BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH

 

There will be an opportunity next month to give blood and help save lives.

 

The River Radio Blood Drive has been scheduled for noon to 6 pm on Friday, July 10th at the Sacred Heart Catholic School Gym in Poplar Bluff.

DOWNTOWN POPLAR BLUFF HOSTING MEETING FOR REVITALIZATION METHOD

 

Downtown Poplar Bluff will be hosting a project meeting next week. 

According to the district, the meeting will be joined by Downtown Strategies, and will be used to work with the community to make a strategic plan to revitalize, enhance, and improve Downtown Poplar Bluff. Participation and attendance to the event is encouraged. 

The meetings will be held on Wednesday, in the front room from the lobby in the Black River Coliseum, from 1 to 5:30 pm.

ROADWAY IN NEW MADRID AND MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES TO BE REDUCED FOR ROAD WORK

 

A stretch of road through New Madrid and Mississippi Counties will be reduced while undergoing repairs. 

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Westbound Route 60, from Route 57 in Mississippi County to Route 61 in New Madrid, will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction while contractor crews perform pavement repairs. 

The work is scheduled to start on Thursday, June 25th, and continue through July 25th, from 7 am to 7 pm each day.
