TWO KENTUCKY RESIDENTS INJURED IN CARTER COUNTY WRECK

Two Kentucky residents were injured in a motorcycle wreck Thursday afternoon in Carter County. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly before 1 pm on US Highway 60 in the Fremont area. 

Two people on the motorcycle, both of Central City, Kentucky, received moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals. 


AUTHORITIES IN DONIPHAN WARNING BUSINESSES TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FAKE MONEY

Authorities in a Southeast Missouri community are warning area businesses to be on the lookout for fake money. 

Officials with the Doniphan Police Department tell KWOC news that they have received several reports of counterfeit bills. They are urging businesses and individuals to be extra careful when accepting cash. 

If you have any question if a bill is genuine, you can have it checked at a local bank or the Doniphan Police Department.

The Doniphan Police Department also says that a boil water notice that had been in effect for parts of the city has been lifted. 


4-H CSI MYSTERY CAMP SCHEDULED FOR EARLY AUGUST IN POPLAR BLUFF

Area parents can get their children registered to participate in an upcoming 4-H Mystery Camp. 

Kid detectives are wanted for the 4-H CSI Mystery Camp on August 7th. The event will be held from 9 am to 3:30 pm at Living Word Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. 

Kids 8 to 18 can sign up and the cost is $25 for 4-H members at $45 for non-members. The registration deadline is August 1st.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE TO OFFER HISET TEST IN DEXTER

Three Rivers College will be offering a High School equivalency test in September. 

The HiSET High School Equivalency Test will be offered at the college’s Dexter location on Saturday, September 15th, from 8 am until 4 pm.

The HiSET is an online test that covers writing, essay, math, science, social studies, and reading. 

Those interested in taking the test should go to hiset.ets.org to register, pay, and schedule the test. The registration period for the test will close on September 13th. 


SCHOOL READINESS EVENT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND IN CARTER COUNTY

The South Central Missouri Community Action Agency will be holding a school readiness event this weekend in Carter County. 

The event is scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm Saturday at the East Carter County FEMA Room in Ellsinore. 

The event will feature many different organizations in the community with services for low income families. 

Children registered for the event can receive free age appropriate school supplies, including backpacks, paper, folders, and pencils. Health Screenings will also be completed for the children.

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

A Poplar Bluff church will be hosting a Back to School Bash this weekend. 

The event will be held on Saturday at the Southside Assembly of God on Midland Street. 

Registration will begin at 4:30 pm with the bash starting at 5 pm. Officials say the first 100 visitors will get a free backpack. 

The church will also be hosting a school supply give away at 10:30 am on Sunday, July 29th.
