KENNETT MAN FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES IN CONNECTION TO INCIDENT LAST WEEK

An area man is facing multiple charges in connection to a domestic disturbance last week in Kennett.

Officials with the Kennett Police Department tell KWOC News that Friday evening officers were dispatched to a residence where they learned that a suspect, armed with a handgun, had allegedly forcibly entered without permission and assaulted and threatened the occupants within.

31 year old Sedrick Harrell, of Kennett, was later arrested for burglary 1st degree, domestic assault 1st degree, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, property damage 2nd degree, and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Following the arrest, Harrell was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center.

 

NO ONE INJURED IN SIKESTON DRIVE BY SHOOTING

No one was injured following a drive by shooting earlier this week in Sikeston.

According to authorities, the incident occurred Monday evening on Greer Street.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no arrests have been announced.

 

PIPE REPLACEMENT TO FORCE CLOSURE OF RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing a portion of Route N in Ripley County today to replace a pipe under the roadway.

Officials say the section of roadway to be closed is located between County Road 142E-30 and County Road N-1.

Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 3 pm today.

 

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST IN KENNETT

A traffic stop led to a drug arrest Monday in Kennett.

According to the Kennett Police Department, shortly before 11 pm Monday night, officers conducted a traffic stop during which a suspect exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, the subject, identified as 40 year old Calvin Harrell, of Kennett, was apprehended and detained. While searching the area, officers found a container which had a baggie with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and several individually wrapped baggies of synthetic marijuana.

Harrell was taken into custody for resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of synthetic marijuana with the intent to distribute. Harrell was also arrested on an active warrant previously issued by the Missouri Probation and Parole board and an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Butler County.

 

MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY MARIJUANA CHARGE IN WAYNE COUNTY

Authorities in Wayne County have arrested an area man on a felony drug charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 35 year old Scott Peterson, of Patterson, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute for marijuana.

Peterson is also facing a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

 

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS DUE TO PIPE REPLACEMENT

Route Y in Stoddard County will be closed today and tomorrow as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a couple of culvert pipes under the roadway. 

The closure will take place today and tomorrow from 7 am to 4 pm each day.

The work zone will be located from Route AB to Route DD.

In Dunklin County MoDOT crews will also be closing Route B between Route BB and County Road 322 both today and tomorrow for pavement repairs. Crews are scheduled to be on site from 6:30 am to 6 pm each day.
