RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TODAY FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

We are continuing to follow chances of severe weather today for parts of Southeast Missouri.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service, there is a slight to enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms. The most favorable window for severe weather spans from the afternoon into the early evening hours.

Weather officials say that damaging winds will be the primary concern, but large hail and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

A wind advisory will also be in effect today until 7 pm for most of our listening area. Winds will average 20 to 30 mph in many locations, especially as we get into the afternoon hours. Some wind gusts over 40 mph are also expected.

 

MODOT CREWS TO WORK ON ROUTE FF IN STODDARD COUNTY TODAY

Route FF in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today and tomorrow as Missouri Department of Transportation crews partially overlay the roadway. 

MoDOT officials say that the section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route E to Route 114.

Weather permitting, work will be performed from 6 am to 4:30 pm both days.

 

DRUG FREE YOUTH RALLY SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK IN BUTLER COUNTY

An area organization will be hosting a youth rally next week.

The Butler County Community Resource Council will host a Drug Free Youth Rally from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, April 13th.

The event, for children 10 to 17 years old, will feature food, music, games, and prizes.

TODAY IS MUNICIPAL ELECTION DAY

A number of local races and propositions will be voted on today by citizens in Missouri.

There are city council and school board elections in multiple communities in Southeast Missouri.

School propositions are also on the ballot for the Twin Rivers, Bloomfield, Kennett, and Pemiscot County school districts.

BRIDGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY ON ROUTE 60 IN STODDARD COUNTY

Westbound Route 60 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge maintenance. 

Work is scheduled to be performed from 6 am to 4:30 pm.

Official say the work zone is located between Routes WW and DD.

 

POPLAR BLUFF KIDS YOGA DAY EVENT TO BE HELD THIS FRIDAY

An event will be held this Friday in Poplar Bluff for Kids Yoga Day.

Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation will be holding the event with instructor Judy Schremp at 5:30 pm Friday at Whiteley Park. Attendees should bring a blanket or mat.
