MOTORISTS REMINDED TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR BLACK ICE

While yesterday’s snowfall might not have resulted in much accumulation, weather officials are telling motorists that they still need to be on the lookout for black ice.

According to the National Weather Service, with temperatures falling into the teens overnight, water from melted snow could freeze into a very thin, nearly transparent, layer of ice on roads and sidewalks.

Motorists should avoid sudden stops or braking while driving, since the traction of the wheels on the road could be reduced significantly compared to dry pavement, causing you to travel much further down the road before stopping.

Also remember to allow extra time to reach your destination this morning.
