TWO MISSING ENDANGERED PERSONS REPORTED IN DEXTER
Two missing endangered persons have been reported in Dexter on Sunday.
According to the Dexter Police Department, the two missing and endangered persons are 48 year old Maria Reyes and 7 year old Aryany Reyes, who both went missing on Sunday in Dexter.
Maria Reyes is a Hispanic female, described as being 4’11 and 120 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair. Aryany Reyes, also a Hispanic female, is 50 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police are also searching for a person of interest, 45 year old Esbin Martines – a Hispanic male who may be with the two.
They may both be driving a 2005 Silver Pontiac Grand Am with tinted windows.
Anyone who has information on their location is asked to contact the Dexter Police Department by calling 573-624-5512.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN POPLAR BLUFF
Updating a story we brought to you last week, and armed and dangerous suspect was taken into custody in Poplar Bluff early this morning.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Carlos Wallace was captured by the department’s Patrol Division after a vehicle pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
He was charged on first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Wallace has been additionally charged on several warrants, and faces additional charges on the vehicle pursuit, the stolen vehicle, as well as charges on stolen firearms that were found inside the stolen vehicle.
INJURIES AND PROPERTY DAMAGE REPORTED FOLLOWING FIRE IN POPLAR BLUFF
Injuries and property damage were reported following reports of a fire on Friday in Poplar Bluff.
According to the Poplar Bluff Fire Department, the fire occurred on 827 Poplar Street, where the fire had spread to the majority of the home by the time authorities arrived.
One of the homes occupants, 29 year old Steven Moore, threw himself through a window to escape the flame, where he received some injuries, with the possibility of drugs being involved.
The department states that the fire started on the balcony, however the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. More information will be available as the investigation of the fire continues.
OFFICIALS WITH STODDARD COUNTY SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ON ESSEX SHOOTING
Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department are searching for information on an Essex shooting that occurred on Thursday.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to a call in Essex on Thursday, where a man reported that a driver asked him directions to Malden, when another man in the vehicle shot at him when he turned to go back to his home.
Police are searching for a red, four door vehicle, and anyone with information that can help this investigation is asked to call the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office at 573-568-4654.
DEATH REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
A Malden man has died from injuries he received in a vehicle crash early Monday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on County Road 118 at Malden, where a vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.
The driver, 43 year old Jared Risinger died from his injuries from the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS
A man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Saturday on multiple warrants.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 48 year old Jeffrey Hobson, of Dexter, was arrested on two felony warrants on possession of a controlled substance, a warrant on probation violation, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hobson was also charged on a Jefferson County Warrant, a Muhlenburg County warrant, a Dexter Police Department Warrant, a public peace disturbance charge, and resisting an officer.
Hewas transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest.
MAN ARRESTED IN PARAGOULD IN RELATION TO BANK ARREST
Updating a story we brought to you previously, a man has been arrested in Paragould in relation to a bank robbery.
According to the Paragould Police Department, 44 year old Nathaniel Painter, of Hot Springs, was arrested on Thursday for charges regarding an investigation on the bank robbery of the First National Bank in Paragould.
Officials responded to a call at the bank on December 12th, with witnesses reporting that an armed man walked into the bank and demanded money before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.
Painter was arrested the following week, after most of the money he had stolen in the robbery was found in his vehicle, and he was charged on aggravated robbery.
He was taken into custody shortly after, being held on a $250k bond.
MODERATE INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN BUTLER COUNTY
Moderate injuries were reported on Sunday following a vehicle accident in Butler County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on a southbound outer road near Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle received moderate injuries as a result of the crash, and was transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff.

Students in Poplar Bluff are getting ready to begin their holiday break.
Poplar Bluff R-1 School officials say that the holiday break this year will begin on Monday, December 23rd.
Students will return to class on Monday, January 6th, 2020.
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN DOWNTOWN POPLAR BLUFF
There is a Christmas shopping festival scheduled to be held this weekend in downtown Poplar Bluff.
The event will be held on Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, with 10x10 booth space available for $60, and limited 15x15 booth space available for $85. The booths will be available until all spots are sold.
The festival will be located at the Black River Ballroom at 502 Vine Street, and set up for the event will be on Friday night from 5 to 9 pm, and Saturday morning from 6 to 8:30 am, with loaders and un-loaders available.

FISK LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR THIS WEEKEND
Parade lights will be illuminating a Butler County city this weekend.
The Fisk Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm Saturday night, with line-up beginning at 5 pm at the Fisk school.
The parade will run through the city before ending at the Fisk Park where Santa will be available to take pictures.

33rd POPLAR BLUFF SHOWDOWN TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK
The 33rd Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown is scheduled to begin next week.
According to Poplar Bluff Athletic Director Kent Keith, the Showdown will feature eight teams across four states at the Poplar Bluff Senior High gym.
The games will begin at 4 pm next Thursday with Tennessee’s South Side High School facing Memphis Central High School.
The Poplar Bluff Mules will be taking on Kauffman High School out of Kansas City, Missouri, beginning at approximately 7 pm. All Mules games during the showdown will be live on Today’s Talk KWOC.
Other matchups for next Thursday include Jonesboro High School vs. Arkansas High School at approximately 5:30 pm, and Southmoore High School vs. Kirby High School at approximately 8:30 pm.
Tickets to enter the showdown are $7 per day.
AG EXPO 2020 TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 31st AND FEBRUARY 1st
We are less than one month away from Ag Expo 2020.
Next year’s Ag Expo will be held on January 31st and February 1st at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. There will be over 100 agriculture related booths and exhibits at the expo along with many activities for the whole family.
Other events will include the beauty pageant, FFA tractor driving contest, petting farm, old time auction, and cow milking contest.

DEXTER WOMAN DIES FROM CRASH IN NEW MADRID
A Dexter woman has died from injuries she received from a crash in New Madrid County on Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on US Highway 60 at Highway FF, where a vehicle was attempting to make a left turn, where they failed to yield, causing another driver to strike the vehicles trailer.
The driver of the crashed vehicle, 46 year old Jennifer Cox, of Dexter, was pronounced dead at the scene.

MULTIPLE ARRESTS REPORTED IN RANDOLPH COUNTY AFTER METHAMPHETAMINE WAS FOUND
Multiple arrests were reported on Wednesday in Randolph County after drugs were found.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, authorities responded to a call on Wednesday, leading to a search warrant that lead to finding methamphetamine and a firearm, with several felony and misdemeanor warrants being issued as 11 people were taken into custody.
More information on the arrests and charges will be available as the investigation continues.
ROAD WORK SCHEDULED TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
There is road work scheduled for today in Butler County.
The roads being worked on are County Road 367, 604, and 602, which will be closed while MoDOT crews replace pipes beneath the roadways.
Roads 604 and 602 are scheduled to be closed today from 8 am to 3 pm, and County Road 367 is scheduled to be closed from 9 am to 3 pm.

SEARCH AREA FOR MISSING ENDANGERED PERSON FROM CARUTHERSVILLE EXPANDED
The search area for a missing endangered person from Caruthersville has been expanded.
The missing person is 36 year old Michele Bell, who was reported to have had a mental breakdown before leaving the city of Caruthersville on December 8th. She is 5’4, 105 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes, and was wearing a pink shirt and leggings on the night she left the city.
Her vehicle was reported being found near Joiner, Ark. On December 9th, on an exit ramp of Interstate 55.
Along with Missouri and Arkansas, she is now being searched after in Tennessee and Mississippi, and a reward is still being offered for her safe return.

MODERATE INJURIES REPORTED FROM VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
Moderate injuries were reported on Wednesday from a vehicle collision in Butler County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on Route HH, near Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
The driver of the vehicle received moderate injuries, and was transported to a hospital in Cape Girardeau following the crash.

An investigation into a death in Carter County has led to charges being filed.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, officials received a call from 27 year old Dakota Taylor, saying that he had hurt his mother, leading police to discover Taylor’s mother, 58 year old Kathryn Hall, with severe physical injuries that she later died from.
Taylor says that the two had gotten into an argument, leading Hall to pull a knife on Taylor, where he then struck her with a baseball bat.
He was charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, with more charges expected as the investigation proceeds.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on US 60, near Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle was travelling eastbound in the westbound lane and struck another vehicle head on.
Both drivers received injuries as a result of the crash, one with moderate and one with minor, and both were transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff.
FILING COMMENCING FOR POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL SEATS
Filing has commenced for two seats on the Poplar Bluff City Council.
The seats on file are currently held by deputy mayor pro tempore Steve Davis and current council member Ron Black, with four people having already filed for the seats, which include Davis himself. Black has been reported saying he is unsure if he will run for another term.
Filing for the positions will continue until January 21st, and is available at the Poplar Bluff City Clerk’s office at 501 Vine Street, from 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 7: 30 am through 5 pm on the final filing day.

LOCAL RESIDENTS SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROBBERY
Two Poplar Bluff residents were sentenced to more than a year in prison on a robbery charge.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Ty Farris and Kelsie Armor, of Poplar Bluff, were arrested in April for robbing a convenience store, where the clerk recognized Farris, who was arrested in Stoddard County along with Armor, who drove Farris away from the robbery.
They were both charged with felony first-degree robbery, felony of stealing, and armed criminal action. They were both sentenced to 14 months in federal prison, and are both set to appear in court in January for a review of their cases.

WAPPAPELLO LAKE U.S. ARMY CORPS HOSTING HOLIDAY EVENT THIS WEEKEND
The Wappapello Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a holiday event this weekend.

2020 DEFICIT BUDGET FOR CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF PASSED
The 2020 deficit budged for the city of Poplar Bluff was passed on Monday.
The members of the Poplar Bluff City Council met yesterday at the Black River Coliseum, where one of the topics discussed was working out the budget for 2020, where is was planned and ultimately approved on.
The budget passed involves cutting two part time positions, and reducing a full time position at the Coliseum to a part time position, with an estimated $300,000 deficit anticipated for 2020.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WARNS OF HAZARDOUS ROADWAYS
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is warning drivers of hazardous roadways.
According to the Patrol, the roadways are slick, and dangerous, from the recent rain and snowfall, combined with the cold to cause the roads to deteriorate as the weather continues to worsen.
Officials with the Patrol urge drivers to stay cautious and to drive slowly to allow yourself more time to stop, clear your vehicle completely of ice and snow, and to stay inside your vehicle if you are involved in an accident.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE IN DONIPHAN
A mobile food pantry is scheduled to arrive in Doniphan next week.
The pantry will be hosted by the Doniphan Fire Department, and will be available to the public. Those who come are asked to bring their own bags.
The department is located on 124 West Jefferson Street, and the pantry will open on December 23rd at 4 pm.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE OFFERING REWARD FOR HELP IN INVESTIGATION
The Poplar Bluff Police Department is offering a cash reward for information that can help in an investigation.
According to the Department, the investigation is on finding Carlos Wallace, who is wanted for questioning concerning several felony charges, and who holds several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.

DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS SET TO CLOSE STATEWIDE NEXT WEEK
Driver Examination stations statewide are set to close next week.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver examination stations around the state will close on December 25th and January 1st, for Christmas and New Years respectively.
Operations of examination stations will resume on December 26th through 31st, and will resume again on January 2nd.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON ASSAULT CHARGES
A woman was taken into custody in Stoddard County on assault charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 32 year old Jessica Cobb, of Kennett, was booked on a warrant on Assault – 3rd degree, and on assault 4th degree.
She was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following her arrest, on a $5000 cash only bond.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Timothy Hendrix, 38 year old Timothy Lipsey, and 28 year old Karissa Reed, all of Poplar Bluff, were all arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hendrix was also charged on felony possession of a controlled substance – 27 pills of Tramadol.
They were all transported to the Butler County Jail following their arrests.
SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
Serious injuries were reported on Saturday following a vehicle collision in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on US 60 near Fisk, where a vehicle failed to yield and struck another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle received serious injuries, and was transported to a hospital in St. Louis following the crash.

CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF HOLDING PUBLIC MEETING TODAY
The city of Poplar Bluff will be having a public meeting today.
The meeting will be a public hearing, which will discuss the restoration of the roof at the Rodgers Theatre.
There will be another meeting which will discuss the transfer of funds related to the health insurance deficit, rezoning of property at 462 North Main Street, board composition for the residential housing advisory board, and the review and approval of the 2020 budget for the city and its utilities.
The initial meeting will be held at 6:45 pm at the city council chambers in the Black River Coliseum, with the following meeting being held at 7 pm.
EAST PRAIRIE MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG AND FIREARM CHARGES
An East Prairie man was arrested on Friday on drug and firearm charges.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 34 year old Bryan Cook, of East Prairie, was arrested on two felony counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts unlawful use of a firearm.
He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the New Madrid County Jail following his arrest.

SNOW POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Southeast Missouri could be seeing some snowfall this weekend.
According to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service, precipitation may reach portions of the region during the day on Sunday, but temperatures will be mainly above freezing in the afternoon. The primary time period of concern is Sunday evening, when temperatures will fall to under 30 degrees.
The potential exists for multiple inches of snow accumulation this weekend.

SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS TO PREMIERE THIS WEEKEND AT THE PALACE OF PRAISE
A Poplar Bluff Church is preparing for their annual performance of a Christmas themed play.
The Palace of Praise is presenting the Sounds of Christmas beginning at 7 pm nightly from December 15th through the 18th.
Admission to the show is free, but you can also purchase tickets for a dinner theater experience and reserved seating for the show on the 16th, 17th, and 18th.

FISK LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR NEXT WEEKEND
Parade lights will be illuminating a Butler County city next weekend.
The Fisk Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 pm Saturday night, with line-up beginning at 5 pm at the Fisk school.
The parade will run through the city before ending at the Fisk Park where Santa will be available to take pictures.
WINTER WEATHER DRIVING TIPS
With the possibility of winter weather coming up this weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to exercise caution while driving.
The patrol says that planning ahead can help in case of an emergency. Before you travel, make certain your vehicle is in good working condition.
The Highway Patrol suggests keeping your fuel tank at least half full. Place an ice scraper, tire chains, battery booster cables, blankets, flashlights, and a bag of sand or cat litter in your trunk.
Also, take the time to make sure the windows are completely cleared to ensure visibility and clear your driveway so that your vehicle enters the roadway safely. Allow extra driving time for you to reach your destination at a slow, safe speed.

33RD ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF BASKETBALL SHOWDOWN TO BEGIN LATER THIS MONTH
The 33rd Annual Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown is scheduled for later this month.
Teams from as far away as Kansas City, will be in Poplar Bluff from Thursday, December 26th through Saturday, December 28th for the basketball tournament.
Joining the defending champion Poplar Bluff Mules will be Kauffman High School out of Kansas City, Southmoore High School from Moore, Oklahoma, Tennessee’s South Side High School from Jackson, Kirby High School, Central High School, both from Memphis, along with Arkansas High School and Jonesboro High School from Arkansas.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths across America program this weekend.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends, as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.
The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.

According to the Patrol, last year’s Christmas counting period saw over 1000 crashes, where out of them over 400 resulted in injuries, with 11 deaths reported. There were also just over 100 people arrested for impaired driving.
The Patrol urges drivers to stay safe and ready this year, and recommends that drivers obey traffic laws, pay attention while driving, and to drive sober.

PAYMENT SCAM CIRCLING THE CLAY COUNTY AREA
Officials with Clay County are warning residents that there is a new scam circling the area.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, there have been reports of residents receiving calls from either Clay County Electric or Entergy, where they state that they will be shutting off their electricity if payment is not secured.
To ensure you are not being scammed, be sure to call one of the local offices to check if the call is official.
INJURIES REPORTED AFTER MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASH IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Injuries were reported after a multiple vehicle crash on Wednesday in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on US 412, near Cardwell, where a vehicle was stationary in the roadway while attempting to turn, before it was struck by another vehicle in the rear, with another vehicle rear-ending the colliding vehicle.
One of the drivers received minor injuries in the collision, and was transported to a hospital in Paragould.
INVESTIGATION PROCEEDING ON BANK ROBBERY IN PARAGOULD
The investigation continues on a bank robbery that happened on Monday in Paragould.
According to the Paragould Police Department, officers with the department responded to a call-in from the bank on Monday, where a man, who was allegedly armed, demanded money from the bank before leaving with an unknown amount of money.
Police have been searching through video surveillance of the robbery, as well as any evidence that may have been left at the scene.

MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION
A man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Wednesday on a drug possession charge.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 35 year old Eric Santiago, of Dexter, was booked on possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid.
He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest, on a $12,500 cash only bond.
LOCAL CHURCH HOSTING CHRISTMAS EVENT THIS WEEKEND
A local church will be hosting a Christmas event throughout the weekend.
The First Church of God will be hosting the ‘Walk Through Bethlehem’ event, which features a live retelling of the first Christmas for the holiday season. It will feature sights, smells, and tastes from the past, and the experience of what it would have been like to be in Bethlehem on the first Christmas. There will also be a marketplace, Wise Men, and traditional bread, as well as stories from Simeon, Mary, and Joseph.
This event is free to the public and is scheduled to open on Friday from 6:30 to 8 pm, and will continue until the 15th. The church is located on 3482 South Westwood Boulevard, in Poplar Bluff.

ENDANGERED PERSON FROM CARUTHERSVILLE’S VEHICLE LOCATED
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, the vehicle of a missing person from Caruthersville was discovered abandoned near Joiner, Arkansas.
The missing person is 36 year old Michele Bell, who was reported to have a mental breakdown on Monday before leaving the city of Caruthersville. She is 5’4, 105 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes, and was wearing a pink shirt and leggings when she left the city.

FOOD PANTRY FOR VETERANS SCHEDULED TO BE HELD NEXT WEEK
A local medical center will be holding a food pantry for veterans next week.
The local John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will be hosting the pantry on Wednesday, December 18th, to aid in feeding veterans healthy meals. The pantry usually opens on the fourth Wednesday of every month, but will be opening earlier due to Christmas.

TRIAL SET FOR VAN BUREN MAN ON SEVERAL ARMED CRIMINAL ACTION CHARGES
A date has been set for the trial of a Van Buren man who opened fire on several law enforcement officers.
According to officials with the Carter County Police Department, 31 year old James Cummings, of Van Buren, shot at four officers after they attempted to act on James’ eviction notice.
He is set to appear at court on December 18th on four counts of first-degree assault and armed criminal action against the four officers he shot at, with one of the officers being seriously injured by Cumming’s gunfire.
POLICE INVESTIGATING POTENTIAL BANK ROBBERY IN PARAGOULD
Police are investigating a potential bank robbery that occurred on Monday in Greene County, Arkansas.
According to the Paragould Police Department, officials with the department responded to a call in on a suspicious individual, who was said to be armed, leaving a bank with an unknown amount of money.
Witness reports claim the man had a weapon, and demanded the teller for money after entering the bank.

A woman was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Monday on drug related charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office, 41 year old Theresa Miller, of Sikeston, was booked on possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was also charged with driving while suspended on a DWI, and was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following her arrest, on a $7,500 cash only bond.
INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Injuries were reported on Monday after a vehicle crash in New Madrid.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on I-55 Southbound, near Matthews, where a vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a median cable barrier, overturning. About 140’ of cable barrier was damaged in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries in the collision, and was transported to a hospital in Sikeston.
PARAGOULD POLICE INVESTIGATING VEHICLE BREAK-INS
The Paragould Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a string of vehicle break-ins.
According to the Paragould Police Department, the suspect was caught on surveillance camera breaking into multiple vehicles, as well as a utility trailer, on US 49 North. He is reported to have broken into the vehicle, stealing it as well as a firearm and hunting supplies.

FERAL SWINE HUNTING RESTRICTIONS SET IN MARK TWAIN NATIONAL FOREST
There have been restrictions set on the hunting of feral swine in the Mark Twain National Forest.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service, the only way for a hunter to kill a hog is during a hunting season such as deer season, where a hunter with a valid hunting permit may kill a hog if one is seen.
The decision of restricting the hog hunting was made as a result of a 60-day public commenting period, and more information is available at the Forest Service’s website at www.FS.Usda.Gov.

A local church will be hosting a Christmas dinner for the community on Wednesday.

A Poplar Bluff citizen was taken into custody in Butler County on drug related charges.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 48 year old Julie Mccranie, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
She was transported to the Butler County Jail following her arrest.
MODERATE INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISION IN NEW MADRID
Moderate injuries were reported on Friday following a vehicle crash in New Madrid.

MULTIPLE DWI SATURATION’S TO BE HELD IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that multiple special operations are planned for Southeast Missouri throughout December.
According to Captain Phil Gregory, commanding officer of Troop E of the Highway Patrol, sometime during the month of December, Troop E officers will be conducting several driving while intoxicated saturation enforcement operations.
Gregory says the operations will be conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
A local man was taken into custody in Butler County on Thursday on multiple charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Ronnie Hawks, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on multiple warrants and several charges.
The warrants include a felony warrant in Scott and Ripley Counties on failure to appear on non-support, a Butler County probation violation warrant, and a warrant on probation & parole on possession of a controlled substance.
His charges include two charges on felony possession of a controlled substance – Hydrocodone and Buprenorphine/Naloxone, and driving while suspended.
Hawks was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
FILING TO BEGIN TODAY FOR SEATS ON THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD
Filing is set to begin December 17th for three seats on the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
Officials say that filing for the 3, three year terms on the School Board will run from 8 am to 5 pm through January 21st, while school is in session.

SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
Serious injuries were reported on Thursday after a vehicle accident in Butler County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the accident occurred on Route AA, near Broseley, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle received serious injuries, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital following the crash.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE MAKE ADDITIONAL PATROLS THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS
The Poplar Bluff Police Department will be making additional patrols throughout the holiday season.
The Department tells KWOC News to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, as well as keeping in mind several tips for crime prevention, such as keeping your lights on in your home, keeping your door and home windows locked, and to stay in public areas as much as possible.
The additional patrols will continue until December 24th, with over 40 more eight-hour shifts being added to Officer’s schedules.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WARNS OF COLD WATER RESCUE
The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a warning on Wednesday about cold water rescues.
According to the Patrol, many cold water victims begin as attempted rescuers, and stresses to not go out on icy waters to rescue people or pets.
Instead, the Patrol recommends to call 911, and if possible, to extend a ladder, pole, or rope to a victim, as well as an item that will float.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN NEW MADRID NAMED DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL
A school in New Madrid County was named a distinguished school.
The New Madrid Elementary School was nominated as a National ESEA Distinguished School by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Only two schools in a state are nominated each year, with New Madrid Elementary being one of the 100 schools in the country being nationally recognized.

FORMER ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN 2015 ASSAULT CASE
Updating a story we brought to you recently, a former assistant Naylor principal was sentenced to 15 years in a previous assault case.
Presiding Circuit Judge Michael Pritchett oversaw the sentencing of 56 year old John Mullins, after he had pled guilty to sexually assaulting a student in 2015.
He was charged on felony first degree statutory sodomy, with an additional charge of first-degree rape and two felony sexual contact charges being dismissed at his sentencing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on Highway 25, near north of Missouri 91, where a vehicle drove into the path of another vehicle, side swiping it.
One of the drivers received moderate injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

MAN ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY FOLLOWING VEHICLE THEFT
A man was taken into custody in Wayne County following a vehicle theft.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36 year old Brandon Luke, of Piedmont, was arrested on felony possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as operating a motor vehicle with no valid license.
He was transported to the Wayne County Jail following his arrest.
INJURIES RECEIVED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISION IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Injuries were reported following a vehicle collision in Dunklin County on Tuesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on US 412, near Cardwell, where a vehicle failed to yield to another vehicle, striking it on the drivers’ side. The vehicle then travelled off the west side of the roadway, and struck a traffic sign.
A driver in one of the vehicles received moderate injuries as a result of the collision, and was transported by ambulance to a Paragould hospital.
VETERAN REFUNDED FOLLOWING ATTEMPTED SCAM BY LIFT COMPANY
An elderly veteran was given a refund after a chair lift company attempted to scam him.
Attorney General Eric Schmitt tells KWOC News that the disabled veteran spent around $2,000 for a chair lift to be installed in his home, where the company both refused to install the lift, as well as denied him a refund from his wasted purchase.

$20K REWARD BEING OFFERED FOR INFORMATION ON ELK POACHING
A reward of $20k is being offered for information on the case of an elk poaching in Carter County.
Missouri’s Operation Game Thief is offering the reward in relation to a poaching incident on November 18th, when the body of an elk was found shot dead, with no parts or meat being taken from the body.

GREENE COUNTY CHURCH HOSTING SAFETY TASK FORCE MEETING
A church in Greene County Arkansas, will be hosting a safety task force meeting next week.
The event will reflect the task force meetings that have been held for several schools in the area, and will focus on the needs and concerns of the churches.

CITY OF DONIPHAN HOLDING CENSUS APPLICANT SESSION NEXT WEEK

3 DEATHS REPORTED FROM DROWNING FOLLOWING FLOOD IN BOLLINGER COUNTY
Three deaths were reported after a flood swept through Bollinger County on Saturday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two vehicles were swept off the roadways in the flooding.
In the first vehicle, a 5 year old and an 8 year old boy died after their vehicle was swept off County Road 356, near Patton, with the driver and a 2 year old being transported to a St. Louis hospital.
The second vehicle, driven by 48 year old Todd Dean, of Louisiana, was swept downstream on County Road 234, 1 Mile from Sedgewickville, where he drowned inside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER VEHICLE COLLISION INTO SHERIFF’S OFFICE
A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody after a vehicle crashed into the Butler County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 29 year old Chaddrick Smith, of Poplar Bluff, allegedly crashed his vehicle into the Butler County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, partially caving in the struck wall.
Officials say that Smith was allegedly driving drunk when the collision occurred.
ROAD WORK SCHEDULED THIS WEEK IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Road work has been scheduled to begin this week in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Westbound Missouri Route 412 in Dunklin County will be reduced for bridge repairs Tuesday through Wednesday, from 7 am to 3:30 pm daily.

SENTENCING SCHEDULED FOR FORMER ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
A Butler County judge is scheduled to announce the sentencing for a former assistant principal this week.
According to officials with the Ripley County police department, 56 year old John Mullins is facing up to 30 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a student in 2015.
His sentencing is scheduled today at 1 pm, with Presiding Circuit Judge Michael Pritchett overseeing the sentencing.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A woman was taken into custody in Wayne County on Friday on drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 57 year old Sandra Bowman, of Piedmont, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, felony possession of a controlled substance – 506 grams of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
She was transported to the Wayne County Jail following her arrest.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON SEVERAL WARRANTS
A woman was taken into custody in Dunklin County on Friday on several warrants.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 34 year old Sonnie Gaskins, of White Oak, was arrested on two felony New Madrid County warrants for failure to appear – one on dangerous drugs and one on amphetamine possession – and a felony Dunklin County warrant on child neglect.
She was transported to the Dunklin County Jail following her arrest.

A woman was arrested in Stoddard County on Sunday on drug possession.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 53 year old Monica Miller, of Dexter, was booked on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

A fatality was reported following a vehicle crash in Butler County on Wednesday.
According to Butler County Coroner Andy Moore, the crash occurred on Missouri 53, 2 miles north of Qulin, where a vehicle was slowing to make a turn and was struck by another vehicle.
The driver of the slowing vehicle was 45 year old Jacky Battles, of Poplar Bluff, who received fatal injuries as a result of the crash, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

He was also charged on a federal detainer for drug trafficking, and receiving stolen property.
He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following is arrest on a $17,500 bond, cash only.

MOTORISTS ENCOURAGED TO DRIVE SAFELY OVER THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Many Missouri residents are getting ready to get on the road to see their family over the Thanksgiving holiday, but officials are urging motorists to keep safety in mind.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, during the 2018 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, 17 people were killed and another 555 were injured in 1,364 traffic crashes.
During the holiday weekend, troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E., enforcing all traffic laws, and making themselves available to assist the public.

ROAD IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REPAIRS NEXT WEEK
A one mile road in Stoddard County is scheduled to be reduced to one lane for pavement repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of roadway located between County Road 413 and Hickory Hills drive will be reduced to one lane on Monday through Wednesday, with work scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm each day.

Thanksgiving is almost here, and the American Red Cross is reminding you to stay safe while you prepare the holiday dinner.
The Red Cross advises that cooks should avoid wearing loose clothing or dangling sleeves while preparing the holiday meal. You should also never leave the stove unattended – if the cook has to leave the kitchen even for a short time, they should turn off the stove.
Remember to clean cooking surfaces on a regular basis to prevent grease buildup and keep anything that can catch fire, including pot holders, oven mitts, and food packaging, away from the stove, oven or any other appliance in the kitchen that generates heat.
Children and pets also bring an increased chance of accidents and should be kept away from the cooking area.

SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE TONIGHT IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

SIKESTON MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOLLOWING CRASH IN STODDRAD COUNTY
A Sikeston man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following a vehicle crash in Stoddard County.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 24 year old Robert Sitzes-Mason, of Sikeston, was sentenced for possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking charge.
He had also pleaded guilty to a previous incident when he crashed his vehicle in Stoddard County, where officials found just over four ounces of methamphetamine, as well as a loaded, stolen firearm.
Mason’s record also includes a charge in 2014 for distributing a controlled substance, and a charge in 2015 for assault on an officer.
WAPPAPELLO LAKE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS HOSTING FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS EVENT

A woman was taken into custody in Dunklin County on Monday on possession of methamphetamine.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 40 year old Jamie Holliman, of Kennett, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, as well a felony probation and parole warrant, and parole violation on dangerous drugs.
She was transported to the Dunklin County Jail following her arrest, with no bond.
INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN RIPLEY COUNTY
Injuries were reported following a vehicle collision in Ripley County on Monday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells (Station name) News that the crash occurred on Missouri 142 at Highway Street, Doniphan, where a vehicle pulled into the path of another moving vehicle.
The driver of one of the vehicles, who was not wearing a safety device, received minor injuries following the crash, and was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
PARAGOULD POLICE INVESTIGATING REPORT OF MUTILATED DOG
The Paragould Police Department is currently investigating the case of a mutilated dog.
According to officials with the department, the dog’s owner showed an officer pictures of the dog, which was found dead with multiple injuries inflicted to it.

Two Poplar Bluff residents were taken into custody in Butler County on Saturday on multiple charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old Stephanie Welsh was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance – hydrocodone, and 19 year old Shannon Hatcher was arrested on a Butler County felony warrant on damaged property, tampering with a motor vehicle.
They were both transported to the Butler County Jail following their arrests.

A Poplar Bluff organization is seeking assistance in preparing meals and desserts for area residents.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR THANKSGIVING
The Missouri State Highway Patrol warns residents of expected traffic increases for the holiday.
The Patrol warns drivers that traffic is expected to increase due to Thanksgiving, and that crashes become much more likely as the lanes fill in, with several deaths and hundreds of injuries from crashes during last year’s Thanksgiving.

MODERATE INJURIES REPORTED AFTER VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN BUTLER COUNTY
Moderate injuries were reported following a vehicle accident in Butler County on Friday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash occurred on Highway 158, west of highway 142, where a vehicle hydroplaned and ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle received moderate injuries, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital following the crash.

A Dexter woman was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Saturday on drug related charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 35 year old Amanda Cochran, of Dexter, was booked on possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid.
She was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following her arrest, on a $12,500 bond cash only.
