BUTLER COUNTY RECORDER OF DEEDS CANDIDATE FORUM SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT
Candidates for the Republican nomination for Butler County Recorder of Deeds will both be participating in a forum tonight.
Today’s Talk KWOC will be broadcasting the candidate forum, presented by Pro Tint Window Tinting and Accessories, beginning at 6 pm.
The candidates, Lisa Larmie and Travis Gowen, will be answering questions about their plans and priorities for if they are elected.
The event will be broadcast live on the KWOC Facebook Page and River Radio Youtube page.
BOAT CAPSIZES ON CURRENT RIVER, TWO PEOPLE INJURED
A boat reportedly capsized Tuesday afternoon on Current River.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the incident occurred half a mile upstream from Hickory Landing in Carter County when the boat struck a log, causing it to overturn and eject all four occupants.
Two of the occupants, including a six year old child, suffered minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals by private conveyance.
WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER BEING EJECTED FROM A MOTORCYCLE IN CLARKTON
A Clarkton woman was seriously injured while riding a motorcycle Tuesday in Dunklin County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the 53 year old woman was riding on a motorcycle on Missouri Highway 162 when she was ejected from the vehicle while it was making a turn.
The woman, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was transported to a Memphis hospital with serious injuries.
DONIPHAN MAN ARRESTED ON BURGLARY CHARGE
A Doniphan man has been taken into custody on a burglary charge.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, Collin Kellerman, of Doniphan, has been charged with 1st degree burglary, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the charges stem from an incident on July 18th where Kellerman allegedly attempted to force his way into a residence while armed with a baseball bat.
Thomas Robbins, of Poplar Bluff, is facing a conspiracy charge in connection to the same incident.
Kellerman’s bond was set at $100,000, cash only, while Robbins bond was set at $50,000, cash or surety.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI OFFICIALS WARNING OF FAKE BILLS IN THE COMMUNITY
Officials in a Southeast Missouri community are warning business leaders and area residents that there have been reports of fake currency in the area.
According to the Caruthersville Police Department, a counterfeit $50 bill was recovered earlier this week.
Possible indicators of a counterfeit bill include missing or faint security features, including the embedded security thread, a washed-out or blurry appearance instead of the sharp, detailed printing found on genuine currency, and missing or poorly defined background printing and fine-line details.
If you receive a bill that you believe may be counterfeit, do not attempt to pass it to someone else, try to note a description of the person who passed the bill and any vehicle information if it is safe to do so, and contact your local law enforcement agency.
ROAD CREWS TO REDUCE ROUTE AA IN NEW MADRID COUNTY TODAY
Route AA in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
The bridge involved in the project is located from County Road 807 to County Road 544.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
