ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED, FOLLOWING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI CRASH
Three people were involved in a single vehicle crash on Monday in Southeast Missouri that left one person dead.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Highway 21 in Reynolds County when an 18 year old man lost control of his vehicle.
The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 41 year old man, from Centerville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suffered serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.
Another passenger was transported to a St. Louis hospital with minor injuries.
PORTAGEVILLE BULLDOGS ARE THE CLASS 2 STATE BASEBALL RUNNERS UP
The Portageville Bulldogs are the Class 2 state baseball runners up.
The Bulldogs were defeated by the Faith Christian Academy Eagles, 5-4 Tuesday afternoon in the Class 2 state championship game in Ozark.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 29-9 record.
The Bulldogs are the state runner up for the second time in the last five seasons, having finished in 2nd in 2022. They also won the state 3rd place game in 2023 and 2025.
11TH ANNUAL ST. JUDE VIP BANQUET SET FOR AUGUST 7TH
The 11th Annual St. Jude VIP Banquet in Poplar Bluff is coming in August.
The event, put on annually by Poplar Bluff Heroes, is scheduled for Friday, August 7th at the Black River Coliseum.
Officials say that doors will open for the event at 5 pm and in addition to dinner, there will also be Live and Silent Auctions, Games, Raffles, and more.
Tickets can be purchased for $50 each or $575 to reserve a table for 10 people.

POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION OFFERING SWIM LESSONS THIS SUMMER
Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation is offering swimming lessons this summer at the R.W. Huntington Municipal Pool.
Officials say that the program will run from June 8th through July 2nd and the cost is $40. Parents can choose from either Monday and Wednesday sessions or Tuesday and Thursday.

STODDARD COUNTY KIDS FISHING EVENT SET FOR JUNE 6TH
Stoddard County children and their parents are invited to join law enforcement officials for a morning of fun and fishing this weekend.
Cops-N-Bobbers has been scheduled for 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, June 6th at Dexter Lake. There will also be free food and giveaways.
A limited number of fishing equipment will be available for those who do not have their own.
June 6th is also a free fishing day in Missouri, so no permit is required.
LONG TERM ROAD PROJECT UNDERWAY ON ROUTE 160 IN RIPLEY COUNTY
East and Westbound Route 160 in Ripley County will have intermittent lane closures with a 12-foot width restriction for several months so construction crews can perform pavement repairs, bridge modifications, and pavement overlays.
According to MoDOT, the work zones will be located from Route JJ to South Route 21 near Doniphan.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Thursday, October 1.
